Tony Award Winning Norbert Leo Butz to Release Live Benefit Concert Album on October 19th

ST. LOUIS (October 13, 2014) — Broadway star and two-time Tony

Award Winner, Norbert Leo Butz, will release a live recorded album

from his May 2013 benefit concert for The Angel Band Project, at

the Sheldon Music Hall in St. Louis. The album will be released

through Broadway Records on October 19th and is now available for

pre-order on its music store at www.BroadwayRecords.com. Also

on October 19th, the album will be available on iTunes and for pre-

order on Amazon.com with a retail release date of November 11,

2014. Proceeds from the album sales will fund The Angel Band

Project’s music therapy program for survivors of sexual violence.

“Music has the power to heal,” said The Angel Band Project co-founder, Rachel Ebeling. “There’s a

reason we put on our favorite album for comfort or a pick-me-up when we’re feeling low. Given the

fact that someone is sexually assaulted every two minutes in the U.S., we are using the therapeutic

power of music as a healing tool for survivors of sexual assault in their journey towards healing.”

The Angel Band Project was founded after the tragic murder of Butz’s sister, Teresa, in July 2009.

An intruder broke into the home she shared with her partner, Jennifer Hopper. Hopper and Butz

were both brutally attacked but Hopper survived. Soon after the horrific event, friends and family of

the pair released a benefit album to support and help ease the suffering of sexual violence survivors.

Based in St. Louis, The Angel Band Project has grown into a non-profit organization whose mission

is to promote healing and to cultivate empathy for survivors of sexual violence through music.

Butz’s sold-out concert at The Sheldon featured a group of musicians from Seattle, New York City,

and St. Louis. The emotionally driven and high-energy performances were a mix of blues, gospel,

and feel-good music. The album will be available in both physical and digital copies.

Butz received a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his role as Freddy in Dirty

Rotten Scoundrels, then a second Tony for Best Actor in a Musical for the role of Carl Hanratty in

Catch Me if You Can. He was last seen on Broadway in the Andrew Lippa musical, Big Fish. He is

an Angel Band Project board member and uses his talents to reach audiences with a powerful

message: music heals.

“We are so excited that Norbert is able to take time out from his busy theatre schedule to help raise

awareness of our cause while raising funds for our mission,” Ebeling continued.

About The Angel Band Project

The Angel Band Project began as a benefit album produced by friends and family of Teresa Butz after her tragic rape and murder. At Teresa’s funeral, there was more singing than speaking, and friends were inspired to record the emotional voices in an album. Dozens of professional singers and musicians, from the orchestra pits of Broadway to the bassist for Tracy Chapman, joined the group to honor Teresa. All proceeds from the album benefit the Voices and Faces Project, a non-profit national survivor network created to give voice and face to rape survivors. The Angel Band Project uses music to promote healing, raise awareness and create positive social change for survivors of sexual violence.
