This BPA focuses on the verification phase for die design. Virtual Die Tryout and collision checkcan be done by every die designer without special simulation knowledge. In addition, the realisticmotion of cam units and a complete collision check of die accelerates the commissioning of thedie.

The option to store the resulting motion curves as function of the slide angle only (KinematicRelations) simplifies further application disposal in process simulation.

3D Tribon Importer BPA (5672-CT9)

Tribon is a family of programs that creates and references a common set of databasescontaining the design details of a ship. Together, these databases are used to depict a 3D modelof the ship, with embedded information for all of the parts of the design, from ship structuralelements to pipe segments, to equipment.

This BPA acts as an interface between Tribon and CATIA V5 or DELMIA V5. The interface isused to import any hull structure from Tribon M3 to CATIA or DELMIA. Based on XML format, the application reads the XML and creates the appropriate geometry in CATIA V5 or DELMIAV5. The user can then add features of CATIA workbenches or launch simulations in DELMIA.

Animation Importer (5672-AI9)

A major challenge during the design phase of product development is the verification of productbehavior in its final environment. 3DVIA is an answer to that issue since it enables the designersto create a highly interactive 3D model of the product and its environment.

Animation Importer takes any 3D model coming from CATIA or DELMIA and imports the model, the position and kinematics to 3DVIA, based on 3DXML format.

• Avoid work duplication - The Animation Importer BPA allows animation files created in CATIAand DELMIA to be imported directly into 3DVIA. Previously, the user needed to redesign theanimation in 3DVIA, before it could be run/played.

• Ensure exact moves in 3DVIA - The moves in 3DVIA will look exactly like the original movesdefined in the CAD system with kinematics constraints and definitions.

• Optimize 3DVIA animation - 3DVIA uses a highly optimized class of objects for animation:the 3DVIA Animation. The motion in 3DVIA will always looks smooth thanks to the key-framemechanism implemented by 3DVIA Animation class.

Product highlights

• Export models, manikins, and positions from CATIA or DELMIA

• Import 3DXML data (models with real kinematics, constraints, and definitions) into 3DVIA

In CATIA or DELMIA there is an Animation Importer toolbar, which is composed of threefunctions:

• Export Geometrics Models to 3DXML - This command saves the geometric model as a3DXML file.

• Export the manikins one by one - This command exports all manikin data in the 3DXMLfile.

• Export Positions to the Position File - This command exports all positions in the 3DXMLfile.

In 3DVIA there are three functions for Animation Importer:

• Import 3DMXL into 3DVIA - This command imports a 3DXML file into 3DVIA.

• Replace the manikins - This command imports the manikin(s) from the 3DXML file.

• Import Position file into 3DVIA - This command connects all data together, to prepare the3DVIA session for playing the animation.

3D Tribon Importer (5672-CT9)

3D Tribon Importer BPA is an interface between Tribon and CATIA V5 or DELMIA V5. Tribon isa family of programs that creates and refers to a common set of databases containing designdetails of a ship. Together, these databases are used to depict a 3D model of the ship, withembedded information for all of the parts of the design, from ship structural elements to pipesegments to equipment.

This BPA exports models designed in Tribon, into CATIA or DELMIA. Based on XML format, theapplication reads the XML and creates appropriate geometry in CATIA V5 or DELMIA V5. Theuser can add features of CATIA workbenches or launch simulations in DELMIA.

Product highlights

A dedicated toolbar in CATIA V5 Product Structure and Assembly Design lets the user launchthe application interface. The user selects the file to import and options to define the results.

Implementation of Knuckled Panel Translation.

Naming elements in the spec tree as they are in the XML file.

Customer benefits

This BPA offers Tribon users features of other PLM products to:

• Import Tribon generated data into both CATIA and DELMIA

• Eliminate user error and costs associated with creating CATIA models for advanced CATIA /DELMIA features

• Apply electrical, piping, tubing, and other design features on the hull structure

Virtual Die Tryout BPA (5672-DI9)

To verify the proper function of a die model, the die designer needs to define the kinematics ofseveral types of cam units and to test for inner collisions. Creating the definition is difficult ascams and drivers are typically placed in different subassemblies on unequal assembly levels. Touse given mechanisms like slide curve joints, the die structure needs to be rebuilt, but the camunits need to be in steady contact. Another option defining curves in order to animate the motionof cam units is limited to linear cam units without links. Using this option, the die designer needsto manually group the collision partners or check a large list of interference conflicts. Animatedmotion reduces the informational value.

The Virtual Die Tryout BPA (DI9) reduces the time needed to check the die functionally. Incomparison to physical die tryout, this is a virtual die tryout as the motion is derived from thegeometric shape of the cam unit components.

Product highlights

The Virtual Die Tryout BPA die simulation and collision check is done by die designers withoutspecial simulation knowledge. Additionally, the realistic motion of cam units and a completecollision check of the die accelerates the commissioning of the die.

The option to store the resulting motion curves as a function of the slide angle only (KinematicRelations) further simplifies the process simulation application.

The Virtual Die Tryout BPA is composed of a specific toolbar integrated to the DELMIA userinterface. The toolbar contains special commands for die joint definition, kinematics generation, die motion calculation, die simulation, collision detection and viewing.

The process follows these steps:

1. Define Die Kinematics - The goal of this operation is to define kinematics through aselection of the related subcomponents on all levels of the die assembly. All the definingparameters are viewed and edited in a user form where all values and links can be easilychanged. Based on the user defined parameters, the die kinematics are automaticallygenerated.

2. Define cam units and calculate the motion - This step defines cam units in the diekinematics using a user interface. In addition to defining the moving component and thereference axis system, the user can assign a contact area related to the moving componentand a driver. For blank holders and cushions a spring force value can be added asinformation. A special algorithm calculates the motion of the displaced cam components. If

IBM United States Software Announcement208-314

IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 15

the cam and driver have springs or other back driving capabilities the algorithm considers thisduring calculation.

3. Inspect clash conflicts - Based on the cam unit grouping, the tool defines clash groups thatare calculated against each other. The collision between all groups is checked for one slidecycle. For each group, the slide angles are gathered where a contact or clash is detected.Clashes without collision are deleted. When complete, the user receives a listing of groupcombinations which can be selected to launch a motion sequence, jumping from conflict toconflict.

Follow these steps for virtual die tryout:

1. Define slide motion: The name of this joint have be same as selected KINcurve. It is expectedthat in the working directory a folder curves will exists in which the slide curves is stored andlater on all other curves.

2. Generate kinematics.

3. Calculate cam motion.

4. Simulation motion.

5. Calculated inner collision.

6. Generate kinematics relation to use the die in a process.

Key customer benefits

• Enable users to verify and deliver error-free designs

• Replace methodologies and macros

License Management

All BPAs implement LUM licensing mechanism (v4.6.8). The following licensing principles apply:

• Each BPA will require a license. Licenses for BPA are acquired and released for the totalproduct. Different products within one configuration will need different licenses.

• BPA products will require a license, in addition to one for the prerequisite configuration andany prerequisite product, if applicable.

In all cases, licenses are acquired at the beginning of the process and are released at itstermination.

Two license types are implemented:

• Nodelocked licenses: A nodelocked license allows the use of a BPA on the particular machinefor which the license was created for as long as the license remains valid.

• Concurrent licenses: A concurrent license is a network license that can be temporarilygranted to run the licensed BPA on a client. When the BPA is running, that license remainsunavailable to other users of the product. When the product stops running the license isreturned to the server, where it becomes available to other users. Concurrent licenses allowas many users to run a licensed BPA simultaneously as there are valid licenses for the BPAavailable from the network license servers in your licensing environment.

Software requirements

In general BPAs are built on top of one or several PLM Solutions (CATIA, ENOVIA, DELMIA,3DVIA Virtools), and therefore require a license for a configuration that includes at least theprerequisite products. Only one BPA product, Dysfunctional Analysis and Simulation (SD9), is astand-alone product, it does not have any prerequisite on CATIA, ENOVIA, DELMIA or 3DVIAVirtools.

A BPA configuration is defined as a bundling of BPA products, some or all of which may beavailable on an individual basis. When BPA products are purchased in a configuration, thoseBPA products can be used only by a single user at a given time.

IBM United States Software Announcement208-314

IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 34

Two license types are implemented:

• Nodelocked Licenses: A nodelocked license allows the use of a BPA on the particularmachine for which the license was created for as long as the license remains valid.

Licensed Program Materials Availability

Restricted materials - No. This licensed program is available without source licensed programmaterials. It is available in object code only.

A Business Process Accelerators (BPA) configuration is defined as a bundling of BPA products, some or all of which may be available on an individual basis. When BPA products are purchasedin a configuration, those BPA products can be used only by a single user at a given time.

Program Services

Program Services offer a method of reporting code-related problems for the Business ProcessAccelerators (BPAs) licensed software products. Program Services are available electronicallyusing the problem submission process at the PLM Technical Support web site at:

http://www.ibm.com/software/applications/plm/support/

Note: In order to use this facility, you must use an IBM ID which has associated to it thelicensed IBM customer number under which the product was purchased. If you have not yetobtained an IBM ID, visit

http://www.ibm.com/account/profile/

If you have not yet associated the licensed IBM customer number to your IBM ID, you will beprompted to do so when accessing the problem submission facility.

When using Program Services, the problem report is submitted via the PLM Technical Supportweb site; all subsequent communications will be via email. The response time for these problemreports, regardless of the severity, will be within two business days. All communications must bein English.

Not all options of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) technical support e-services areavailable in all countries.

Preventive Service is delivered through the next release of Business Process Accelerators'products. The new release also includes corrections to problems, depending on the time of theirsubmission and their severity.

During the Program Services period, Corrective Service for Business Process Acceleratorreleases is delivered through service packs. A service pack includes corrections for Blocking

IBM United States Software Announcement208-314

IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 35

Problems in production systems reported on this release and all corrections available for allcomponents at the time it is built. Service packs are provided at the same time for all platformscurrently supported. Each service pack is a refresh of the Business Process Accelerators.

Note: The GA level of the BPA Delivery 6 for V5.19 code is equivalent to the V5.19 GA level.Subsequently, a corresponding BPA service pack will be built for each V5.19 service pack, starting with Service Pack 1, and available approximately a month later. These BPA and V5.19PLM product service packs are synchronized and so the products must be run at the sameservice pack level.

Customers may request a correction via a service pack for Blocking Problems. A BlockingProblem is defined as:

• A problem that stops production: The customer is currently using the level for which a fix isrequested in a production environment.

• A problem that prevents migration: The customer must provide the migration plan.

• A problem that halts testing of a given level: A fix will allow customer to continue the testing.

• Installation problem: A problem that prevents the customer from installing or using the product.

• Regression: Problems reported as regressions may be due to an operation that was beingperformed erroneously or created incorrect data with a previous release and the currentrelease no longer permits these operations. Therefore, each problem reported as a regressionmust be evaluated. True regressions will be handled as Severity 1 problems.

Program Services will be provided for this release of the Business Process Accelerators (R506)until the end of support date for the PLM product it is associated with (that is, CATIA V425,CATIA V5.19, ENOVIA SmarTeam V5.19, ENOVIA VPM 1.6, or ENOVIA VPLM V5.19). If theBusiness Process Accelerator is associated with more than one PLM product, the end of supportdate will match the product with the earliest date.

Program Services for the Dysfunctional Analysis & Simulation BPA when running stand-alone(without any associated PLM product) will be provided until June 3, 2011.

Note: The prior level of the Business Process Accelerators (BPA Delivery 5 for V5.18) is beingshipped to all customers ordering this product. The BPA Delivery 5 for V5.18 (BPA 1.5) code willmaintain its previously-announced end of support dates.

For a list of all currently supported releases of CATIA, ENOVIA VPLM and ENOVIA SmarTeamproducts visit
