“ICD-10 – How to Code It”8:30am–11:30am: AAPC accreditation 3 CEU’s, Fee: $75.00

ICD-10 is here at last. And the switch to ICD-10 from ICD-9 poses one of the most challenging transitions ever for providers. Smaller physician practices will be hit the hardest. Henry Schein has partnered with the Medical Business Institute to help you understand and prepare for the impact the changes will have on your practice.

This seminar will explain the ICD-10 regulation and HIPAA’s wide-ranging administrative simplification provisions. Physician practices must transition from the current Version of ICD-9 to Version ICD-10 by October 1, 2014. Just as physician practices are adjusting to the new HIPAA electronic transactions platform, they must transition from a diagnosis re-porting system that has been in use for decades to a brand new system. These changes are intertwined, expensive, and will complicate things for medical practices. We will cover the differences between ICD-9 and ICD-10, how to navigate the new ICD-10 format, and how to live with having to use two different coding systems simultaneously. This seminar will describe these changes as well as provide tools so your practice can prepare to meet these challenges.

Critical issues to be discussed include: • The key elements of ICD-10 • Compliance dates your practice will have to meet • The new ICD-10 code set components • Expected implementation costs for your size practice • Critical testing and implementation steps to avoid cash flow disruption

In addition, we will address how physician practices can effectively face challenges in: • Documentation changes you will need to make • Staff training and training timeline • Collection and use of research and benchmarking data • Clinical workflow adaptations • Strategies for working with your vendors and payers • Payer negotiations/contracting • Understanding the critical components of both the ICD-10 • Recognizing the major impact areas on your practice and the timeframes for implementation, testing, and compliance • Identifying the necessary steps practices will need to take to comply with these complex federal mandates • Recognition of the potential costs and benefits associated with adoption of ICD-10

OverviewImplementation of accountable care organizations (ACOs) has continued to advance rapidly in the past year. This seminar will discuss difficulties to ACO implementation and provide some ides for overcoming those. We will provide unique and in-depth insights on the establishment of ACOs and ongoing health care reform. We will discuss issues such as innovative payment models, performance measurements, delivery system reform and clinical transformation, managing vulnerable populations, and engaging patients in medical care.

What is an ACO?ACOs are groups of physicians, hospitals, and other providers that receive financial rewards for achieving patient-focused quality targets and demonstrating reductions in overall spending growth for their defined patient population. ACOs can be organized in a number of ways, ranging from fully integrated delivery systems to networked models within which physicians in small office practices can work together to improve quality, coordinate care, and reduce costs.

Join us to learn how the future of your practice can be impactedby an ACO.ACOs are one of the main focal points of the PPACA and to join or not, when and which, will be one of the major decisions you will have to make in the coming months. Makeyour decision with care by attending this workshop on their impact on your practice.
