• Dictionary definition: From 2500BC to 1600BC, is the period when the Indian subcontinent was dominated by Harappan culture. The Harappan culture had writing, complex social and economic systems, showed signs of urban planning, water supply, and drainage. The two leading cities were Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro. The Harappan culture rose along the Indus river valley.

• During the Ancient Times, the Indian sub-continent was inhabited by Hindus.
• The legal system took place from the Hindu religious and social practices.
• The first law is that the eldest male was the head of the family and he enjoyed considerable powers over the rest of the family.
• There were also a few criminal laws. • One of the worst crime you could do was lying. The punishment
for it was death. • Another crime you could do was murdering someone. Again the
sentence was death.
