Hello everyone,

Hope all is well with you and your families. Dennis Fitzgerald and myself are both better after our hospital stays. Frank Mahon and Frank Martucci are both better and resting at home. Our annual golf outing was very successful thanks to the hard work of the Committee Members. Well summer is here, the weather is great and we can enjoy our Jersey Shore with our friends and family.

Our next meeting is Tuesday, July 10th, at the Half Moon Point, 2154 Bridge Avenue, Point Pleasant. Hope to see you then.

A police officer kneeled on the job today.....They kneeled as they held the hand of a child as they took their last breath after being struck by a car while riding their bike.They kneeled while performing CPR on an elderly woman who was out shopping with her daughter.They kneeled as they comforted a lost child that was crying for their parent.

They kneeled as they reached into a sewer grate to rescue a kitten that fell down inside it.They kneeled after being struck in the head with a bottle thrown at them by some angry individual in a mob of angry individuals protesting the police based on a false narrative.They kneeled from exhaustion after jumping into a lake to rescue someone who had fallen in.They kneeled as they delivered a baby in the back of a car on the side of the highway because that baby just couldn’t wait.They kneeled as they took cover behind a small dumpster as they were being fired upon after responding to a burglar alarm.They kneeled as they provided first aid to a battered person after they responded to a domestic violence call.They kneeled in the doorway of a burning house as they moved under the smoke in an effort to rescue a small child left behind by their panic stricken parents.They kneeled as they administered narcan to another teenager that OD’d on heroin.They kneeled as the helped a stranded motorist change a tire on a lonely dark road.They kneeled as they kissed their young child, asleep in their bed, early in the morning as they headed out the door knowing that once again they would miss their dance recital, soccer game or school play.They kneeled as they wept at the casket of their partner who was shot and killed on a “routine” traffic stop because he/she was a cop.But they will stand tall each and every time they are called upon. No matter if you spit on them, call them vile names, tell them you hate them and say the world will better off without them.They stand tall, ever the faithful sheepdog’s, guarding their flock from the wolves that would devour them.Thank you my Brothers and Sisters for all you do and for showing all what kneeling on the job is really about.True American’s become Police Officers while cry babies become overpaid ungrateful “athletes” who sleep well at night!

LOOK IN THE MIRROR BROTHERS AND SISTERS...............THIS IS YOU..........Always a Cop: Once the badge goes on, it never comes off, whether they can see it, or not. It fuses to the soul through adversity, fear and adrenaline and no one who has ever worn it with pride, integrity and guts, can ever sleep through the ‘call of the wild’ that wafts through bedroom windows in the deep of the night.

When Cops Retire : When a good cop leaves the ‘job’ and retires to a better life, many are jealous, some are pleased and yet others, who may have already retired, wonder. We wonder if he knows what he is leaving behind, because we already know. We know, for example, that after a lifetime of camaraderie that few experience, it will remain as a longing for those past times. We know in the law enforcement life there is a fellowship which lasts long after the uniforms are hung up in the back of the closet. We know even if he throws them away, they will be on him with every step and breath that remains in his life. We also know how the very bearing of the man speaks of what he was and in his heart still is.

These are the burdens of the job. You will still look at people suspiciously, still see what others do not see or choose to ignore and always will look at the rest of the law enforcement world with a respect for what they do; only grown in a lifetime of knowing. Never think for one moment you are escaping from that life. You are only escaping the ‘job’ and merely being allowed to leave ‘active’ duty. So what I wish for you is that whenever you ease into retirement, in your heart you never forget for one moment that ‘Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called children of God,’ and you are still a member of the greatest fraternity the world has ever known.


Civilian Friends vs. Police Friends CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Get upset if you’re too busy to talk to them for a week.POLICE FRIENDS: Are glad to see you after years, and will happily carry on the same conversation you were having the last time you met. CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Have never seen you cry. POLICE FRIENDS: Have cried with you. CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Borrow your stuff for a few days then give it back.POLICE FRIENDS: Keep your stuff so long they forget it’s yours.........Like, it’s family you know...... CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Know a few things about you.. POLICE FRIENDS: Could write a book with direct quotes from you. CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Are for a while. POLICE FRIENDS: Are for life. CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Have shared a few experiences. POLICE FRIENDS: Have shared a lifetime of experiences no citizen could ever dream of... CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Will ignore this. POLICE FRIENDS: Will forward this.. There are those that think they understand. And then . . . there are cops


JS 10-13 Golf Outing 2018 – Gambler Ridge Golf Course In his absence, and at his request, since he is recuperating from Surgery, Dennis Fitzgerald who has chaired the Golf Outing for the past fifteen (15) years, along with Jack McGuirk as his Co-Chair, wished to announce his retirement from the position of Chairing the Golf Outing; should this occur, Jack McGuirk made note that he would be willing to carry on as the Chair for next year’s outing. Of course, it should be noted (and was at the luncheon) Dennis has retired from his position for the last five years.

Jack ran the show in the absence of Dennis and was greatly assisted by John Briganti (Co-Chair, Treasurer and 1st VP Hudson Valley 10-13), Sal Pepitone (Co-Chair – who was at the time celebrating his 50th Wedding Anniversary), John Cassidy (Sgt-at-Arms) and his brother Jim. Without all of their help, the

day would not have passed as successfully as it did. the golf outing made $1700 for our scholarship Fund. thank you to all that attended and made this possible.

As for the winners:

Then there was then the 50/50 Drawing and subsequent drawings off the same tickets sold.

2nd prize (Wrist worn Range Finder – Donated by Sal Pepitone) went to Marie Zolfo (Secretary, National 10-13)

3rd prize (Nike Sun Glasses – Donated by Dr. Dennis Lyons) – was also awarded individually – In the confusion – the name of the winner will remain anonymous.

All other prizes drawn from the remaining tickets went to a considerable number of guests and were obtained from selections on the table (e.g., Golf Bag, Golf Balls, Sun Glasses, Gift Basket, Coolers, etc.)
