By this afternoon we will be in Omaha & ready to check into our hotel for the duration of our stay, the Hampton Inn & Suites. After we check into our hotel we will enjoy an Irish Dinner at the hotel with Irish Folk Singers & Dancers. Tonight experience an International Christmas Dinner Show with David Marsh. Dave performs on traditional folk instruments from around the world. You will hear familiar songs played on unfamiliar instruments, like “O Holy Night” on the hammered dulcimer. This evening continues with an Irish Dance Performance by the Dancers of Marty Dowds Irish Dance Studio. Marty was the lead dancer for River Dance for over 15 years. Tonight he will showcase some of his young Irish dancers. (D) Thursday, November 16 This morning after breakfast in the hotel we will enjoy a Guided Driving Tour of Omaha’s Past, Present and Future. A professional guide gives our group an overview of Omaha’s points of interest. Tour the historic Old Market District, Lewis & Clark Landing, the Historic Gold Coast District and Creighton University. Included sites include Billionaire’s Warren Buffet’s residence, the Blackstone Hotel (birthplace of the Reuben Sandwich), TD Ameritrade Park (Home of the annual College World Series), Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge (longest pedestrian bridge to connect two states), Omaha Community Playhouse (where Henry Fonda started acting), and much more. Lunch today is on our own at the Historic Old Market District. The Old Market District is Omaha’s former warehouse district with brick streets and unique shops, great for a little holiday shopping. Explore the three block area including Tannenbaum Christmas Shop, Red Square Russian gifts and Ashley’s Collectibles. We willexperience the art of violin making from one of the best, Omahan Alex Louis Reza, who currently crafts6 to 10 instruments a year, passionately creating each violin by hand for musicians form all over theworld. Learn the magic behind this craft and see Reza’s collection of rare violins, violas and bows formsome of the most sought after violin makers in the world, as we enjoy a live violin performance. Next,we will tour St. Cecilia Spanish Cathedral. Learn about its famous architect, and the fifty year struggleto complete the structure. View beautiful stained glass windows, amazing Spanish colonial artwork, anda massive three ton pipe organ. This evening enjoy a tour at the historic 1903 Joslyn Castle. This stone30 room mansion resembles a traditional Scottish castle in appearance. As you enter through the hugefront doors, you will be amazed by the craftsmanship of the elaborate wood interior. The wood is from allparts of the world. After the tour, we will enjoy a catered Dinner while being entertained by the musicand merriment of the Madrigal Christmas Quartet and Jester. An actual working town, Boys Town is an inspirational stop onany group tour. Visit the hall of history to learn the interesting history of this city of children. View anumber of beautiful chapels and tour the restored 1920’s home of Father Flanagan. After Lunch on ourown we will enjoy Afternoon English Tea with Gerald Charles Dickens. With an established careeras an actor and producer in Oxford, England, Gerald Dickens became fascinated by his famous great-great-grandfather’s works including the famous “A Christmas Carol”. In 1993 Gerald created his firstone-man show. This afternoons performance will be “A Chance Encounter with Mr. Dickens”. After anincluded Dinner at Cascio’s Steakhouse we will continue to the Omaha Community Playhouse tosee the traditional “A Christmas Carol” Musical. For over 35 years, the Omaha Community Playhousehas been offering this quality holiday performance.
