Serves as a bridge between employer needs and those of job seekers (students)

20:80 ratio of theory and hands-on experience- attempting to match as closely as possible the “real work environment” that students will face while entering the industry

Above all a Successful Proven Model of partnership between UOU and Industry stakeholders.

Benefits to Industry Partner

University framed comprehensive curriculum to provide high degree of employability & creation of skilled technical hands.

Industry gets time to evaluate the performance of students for future absorption of trainees in their organisation.

A huge talent pool of skilled manpower MoU between University and Industry for providing on-the-

job training helps them in CSR activities also .

Background Scenario

This idea was conceptualised in February 2010 after we conducted a Human Resource Survey in the State. Results of the Survey(Employers’ Perspective) were:

Courses run in ITIs are of poor quality, obsolete & of long duration

No curriculum development

Weak industry-academia interface

Disconnect-skills provided and skills required by Industry.

No infrastructure

No vision- ITIs are playing a limited role in producing skills required.

All these leading to huge mismatch between demand and supply of skilled manpower

Background Scenario…..

As a consequence a strategic plan was developed with a distinct partnership between key stakeholders in terms of how this course is planned, developed and delivered.

UOU-Monitoring, evaluation & certification of course

Smart Skills- Curriculum development and Imparting of theory classes.

Tata Motors Ltd- Curriculum development and Providing On-the-job training

Background Scenario….

In order to move forward in a structured manner a Model Center was established at Haldwani.

This led to the development of “Center of Technical Excellence” which enabled the concept to be implemented and fine tuned.

Successfully trained 1900 students in two years.
