Fall is in the air. School has started back. Volleyballs, footballs, and music is flying through the air in Idalou. And our fall activities are ready to begin here at FBC Idalou. I hope you find a place to study, learn, or serve on Sundays and Wednesdays! You will hear a ton about kids and youth activities on Wednesday nights. You may be wondering what we offer for adults on Wednesday nights? Glad you asked!! There are three activities for adults. First, if you would like to be a part of worship team, they have rehearsals every Wednesday night. We would love for you to sing, run sound, or help us with the visual center. Second, we have a group of adults who get together, share prayer requests, and pray for our church members and community. This a great place to serve and pray with other believers. Third, we will begin a weekly Bible study aimed at answering questions people have about Christianity. This will be a series dealing with apologetics and trying to answer the questions people tend to have about Christianity. All these activities begin at 7 p.m. I hope you have an amazing fall and school year. We look forward to seeing you on Sundays and Wednesdays here at Fist Baptist Church Idalou!!!

School is finally here! I am excited to be back on a normal schedule! Wednesday Night Youth (WNY) kicks off September 5! We will be going over the I AM statements in the gospel of John for the first half of the semester. We will go over who Jesus says he is in each lesson. The second half of the semester will be devoted to a question series. Throughout the first half of the semester, our students will be able to write down serious questions they have about the bible. I will take those, study them and present them as a lesson. I am excited to dig deep into some of the questions our students have.
For those of you who don’t know, our Wednesday nights consists of small groups. These small groups each have an adult leader who facilitates conversation. With the first Wednesday approaching, I am expecting bigger number than we have had in the past. That being said, I need people who are willing to partner with us and be a small group leader. You will not be expected to prepare a lesson, I will provide you with questions to ask and my notes. You would be responsible for making conversation with your small group. I don’t expect you to teach the entire time (some weeks you might not have to speak at all!) If you are interested in this ministry opportunity contact me ASAP!
Sunday nights are our in-depth study. This semester we are going over some old testament stories starting with Creation and ending with a study of Jesus in the Prophets.
Our first event is a fifth quarter September 21st. We will be serving pancakes! If you would like to help let me know! Also, if you have not grabbed a calendar for the fall they are located in the foyer!
**DNOW IS OCT. 5-7th! FORMS CAN BE FOUND IN THE FOYER AND AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL OFFICES!

Schools up and running again and everyone's at work getting re-accustomed to the routine that is unique to this time of the year. It may seem crazy but now is also the time when we need to turn attention to, believe it or not, Christmas!
I need everyone to start thinking NOW about what you would like to see in the way of a Christmas music program. Why so early? Well, if we have enough folks interested to go with a traditional Sanctuary Choir musical program we need to begin rehearsals at the beginning of October, a mere month away. Music and CD’s need to be chosen, ordered, and distributed during this time. If we decide to shoot for a Vocal Ensemble format like we switched to last year, we can probably start rehearsals a bit later. So September is when I need to HEAR FROM YOU about what you would like to do so I can plan accordingly. Please give me a call, send a text, email, accost me at Church, dispatch a carrier pigeon, or WHATEVER! And let me know what you would like to do to make this year’s Christmas musical a fun, memorable, and meaningful one for everyone.
