Introducing the new ALTAIRA, specifically designed to satisfy high-production OD grinding applications on work parts up to 16” in diameter, 40” in overall length, and 600 pounds.

The ALTAIRA features high-speed spindle capability and has the inherent stiffness needed for CBN PEEL GRINDING applications. The single pass profiling (PEEL) process allows the user to grind a variety of shapes on any number of part configurations, all with the same grinding wheel.

Overall floor space is kept to a minimum through the use of a compound linear slide design. The X-axis infeed slide is mounted directly above the Z-axis cross slide. With this unique design the work part is placed between centers on a fixed tooling plate providing maximum stiffness and improved accuracy.

The ALTAIRA features; Shear-Damper machine base, cross-roller linear ways, GE Fanuc 18iTB CNC control, variable speed wheel drive, Trabon automatic lubrication, Z-axis linear motor drive, X-axis low-inertia break-away coupling, live spindle workhead, hydraulic tailstock, a full enclosure, and a lot more.
