Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is close to celebrating one and half decades of service to society and humanity. Under AMMA’s inspiring and motivating leadership and direction as Chancellor of the University, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is marching forward towards higher goals and accomplishments.

Amrita educational Institutions provide a holistic approach to ‘Education for Life’ and ‘Education for Living’. It provides the best education in terms of academic excellence, facilities, ambience, pedagogy and infrastructure. The education one receives at Amrita inculcates both values and virtues, while instilling the essential principles of spirituality. The faculty-student ratio in the University at about 1:8 is one of the best prevailing in the country. Recognition, local and international, has come in an unending flow.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was re-accredited with ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. It has also been ranked in the Ivy league of Indian Universities along with such famous institutions as the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. In a review of Deemed Universities by a high-power committee of reputed academicians, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was placed in Category 1. For the country as a whole only handful of private universities enjoy this privilege.

“ Amrita University has a major role to play in transforming our society into a knowl-edge society through its unique value-add-ed education system “

- Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

I was pleased to visit the Department of anage-ment in 20 . I could see that the students here get an education for life and an education for living. The students who have joined our organi ation in Dubai from this university have constantly proved that they are the best. e will continue to recruit from this University that consistently turns out ethical manag-ers ready to serve both the rm and society with utmost sincerity and dedication. eedless to say, the presence of the Chancellor s vision and guidance has been (and continues to be) the foremost reason for the success of the Department and the University.

The environment, the infrastructure, the campus is just right for building our ne t generation of lead-ers, the future for our country. hat strikes me most is the humility and willingness to go beyond what a business management school does and teaches, and help actually to contribute to the society.

hat is being done here is really epic: to help shape the mind of students beyond just the regular B school topics is something which every student in India should go through making sure that you are connected to the society and the community and the issues of well-being beyond just subject matter e pertise. y best wishes to the students and I loved every bit of moment I was here.

A very insightful session and more importantly a very energetic and enthusiastic bunch of students. I found the discussion and the questions the students asked very sharp and thought through. The calibre of the students compares with the best business schools, and this is possible only with the e cellent education and coaching the sta is imparting.

It was truly a pleasure and learning for me. All the best to them in their careers.

In order to fulfill the career aspirations of the students, it was found necessary for them to have e pert assistance in specific areas, beyond their regular academic training. Corporate and Industry Relations (CIR) was established with the prime motive of transforming every student into a globally accepted professional, together with high human values and life skills to face the never ending challenges of life. The University management has demonstrated its commitment to lead this important function by positioning a senior Director to head CIR.

CIR functions encompass seven key areas: earning and Development, Corporate Relations, Career acilitation, ntrepreneurship Development, Alumni etworking, Corporate Communication and

Corporate Training. In order to benefit all sections of students across the University, CIR has centres in all the Campuses, replicating the form and function of the main centre, with necessary modifications incorporated to meet the varying nature of programmes offered at such locations. International Symposium on NGOs and Governance of CSR: The Indian Context

Department of anagement, Amritapuri Campus and Center for Governance, Accountability, and aw, R IT, Australia organised an International Sympo-sium on CSR. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a framework whereby companies voluntarily choose to participate in social developmental activities, namely education, health, social safety and cleaner environment. CSR has gained more attention in developing economies where economic transformation placed unprece-dented pressures on natural, human and technologi-cal resources. CSR reporting requirements (with voluntary participation) have been introduced in some developed countries including Sweden,

orway, the etherlands, Denmark, rance and Australia. In another move, countries like auritius, India, Indonesia and Philippines have enacted com-prehensive legislation to make CSR mandatory. If companies are not directly participating in service provision, they apparently would need special vehi-cles such as G s as service providers. The success of the projects would largely depend on the relationship between companies and G s, which may be greatly jeopardi ed by information asymmetry engendering adverse selection, moral ha ard and other agency problems.
