Almost 70% of the earth is covered in water and about 60% of the human body is made up of water. But despite so much of our body made up of water, we are still asked to drink 8 – 10 glasses of water a day.

How can you increase your water intake?

SEE IT. Keep water in sight – if you are sitting at a desk for 8-10 hours a day, keep your water bottle where you can see it.

EAT IT. Some fruits like watermelons, oranges, grapes and tomatoes have a high content of water. Eating these fruits improves your water intake.

TRACK IT. Use one of those handy apps on your phone to keep track of how much water you drink. Some useful apps are ‘Water Minder’, ‘Hydro drink water’, ‘indurated’ and ‘Water your Body’.

SIP IT. Don’t try to drink one litre of water at one time. Instead, have small sips of water through the day.

CHANGE IT. If you’re bored of drinking water as it is, try green tea or coconut water instead. These beverages are rich in antioxidants and electrolytes respectively and will be a pleasant change for your taste buds. Fruit-infused water is another interesting option for your taste buds
