CGO Christmas Party The annual Calligraphy Guild Christmas Party will be held on Dec. 15 at Carol Francis’ house. Everyone is invited to come and join the festivities. Please bring an appetizer or dessert item. The merry making begins at 6, but if you come early, we will start early!

This year we are going back to the older tradition of “bring a homemade gift and get a homemade gift”. It doesn’t have to be calligraphy, it just has to be homemade.

So mark your calendar and come and help celebrate the season! P.S. Map to Carol’s house is in this Calligram.

Be a Valentine! !CGO is planning a Valentine exchange for our February meeting. Make ONE valentine for ONE person, your secret Valentine. Sign up by January 1 and you will receive your assigned “Secret Valentine”. Cards should be original,

handmade by YOU and should include some hand lettering. Valentines should be mailed anonymously to your Valentine to arrive by February 14.

Pointed pen basics:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsE8qHphiGkAlthough this video is more about pointed pen, there is a section on nib care (around 15:00) – preparing a new nib, cleaning a nib, the right fit for a nib in the holder, and what not to do when handling a nib; also sections on inks for PP work, how to set up your work space,  how to hold a pen – avoiding “death grip”, finding the “sweet spot” for writing.  This is not a lettering instruction video. Gilding with Instacoll:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7gPKa0QKIU How make your own oblique flange:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNuvi-fdutE&feature=youtu.be
