1. What are your expectations from the students?Students should imbibe a holistic approach towards learning, be a well rounded individual through behavior science, co and extracurricular activities. They should have 'in class' development and make a deliberate philosophy to groom themselves. Being receptive, having respect for parents and teachers, respecting individuality and differences and be adaptable and caring. I'm happy with the quality of students and their talent but would want them to resist the changes, distraction sand deviations. It is desirable that they focus on studies and try to sharpen their competitive edge. On campus we have activities like industrial visits, guest lectures etc. students get an opportunity to develop well rounded personality which would help them to make industry ready.

2. What are the areas of improvement in your view?I feel students need to take care of discipline, dress code, their academic seriousness and more innovative teaching from the faculty.

3. What innovations would you like to see in academics?A documentary film made by the MBA senior batch is a good example of learning through innovations. Screen plays, drama, and more case studies are required. They should learn through observation and experiential learning. They should have good knowledge of excel and other marketing softwares.

4. Your opinion on FDI in retail.I feel it should happen but we should negotiate for higher percentage to ensure that our people are hired. Repatriation of profit should be handled. Government must make sure that the farmers are benefited and CSR activities are done. There must be an independent authority to monitor the happening and non happening of any event. It's not about selling, it's basically about sourcing. It should ensure employment of our own people and that the end user consumers are benefited.

EDGEBound to succeed“Purity and simplicity are the two wings with which man soars above the earth and all temporary nature...” – Thomas Kempis

In today's world, where we live in an environment of clutter, chaos and confusion, the person who is able to de-clutter and simplify his life is the one who can achieve the maximum. Most of us are doing too much – speaking too much, connecting too much (thanks to Facebook and other networking sites), multitasking too much, aiming for too many goals, filling our workday with too many commitments, and the list goes on. It's time to hold back, think, and simplify things. It's time to focus on the essential and de-clutter, and de-stress our life. All successful people have done it.

However, simplicity is the most difficult thing to achieve. The ones who can achieve it have been the most successful. Charlie Chaplin was one such legend. He simplified films. All his films were immaculately constructed. He understood human psychology perfectly and depicted it in the simplest manner in his films, which is why even today, they are as enjoyable to watch. Come to think of it, simplicity can be pretty complex. Only if you have a deep understanding of the problem or a concept then only can you think of a simple explanation or a simple solution. As Lao Tzu once said “I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures.” The one who can master these three virtues is sure to succeed. These virtues can only lead to better bonding of an individual in both its professional and personal relationships

As a mentor i feel that these virtues should be cultivated in the students as success comes when we are ready to be bonded and committed and ready to give our hundred percent .Therefore for todays youth it is important to de –clutter oneself from existing distractions, chart out goals in life and simply work towards achieving them with patience ,compassion and commitment .

Alumni Review I glad that I got the chance to do my masters from Amity University. In earlier months of my studies, I had a feeling that I am not in a place where I should be. But later, I realised that my university is the best University in Ahmedabad, when compared to others which have good ranking such as IIPM ,Nirma, IBMR etc.,

My Amity ExperienceI had a few of my friends studying there who were disappointed with their Professors, University facilities and the environment, while on the other hand after comparing the modules, teachers, facilities, scope and environment of my University, I realized that I was in far much better place than them.

I settled into the course straight away as my Engineering background allowed me to grasp certain aspects very quickly. I found all the staff members, both academic and technical, very friendly and approachable. They were always willing to assist you with any problems or questions you may have. I really took advantage of this throughout the entire Course, especially during my research project. I would particularly like to thank Professor Manish Dholakia, the Dean, Ms. Neeta Sinha, Ms. Swati Gupta and Mr. Laxman Rathod for their guidance, understanding, patience, and most importantly, their support during my graduate studies.I am extremely content and proud of myself as I am employed with Claris Lifesciences Ltd. as a HR professional. The prime reason I got this role was because the course taught me the communication and interpersonel skills which were the main requirements for this job. My job in Claris involves analyzing and understanding how the HR recruitment system works and modelling the existing system effectively with the present day requirements. During my initial days at the job, my boss didn't involve me that much in the process as I was a complete fresher entering into the corporate world. But gradually, he taught the existing SOP's, processes and other operational activities required in my job. And now i am working individually without any assistance of my boss or colleague.

As far as giving advice to all my juniors is concerned, do not have any presumptions about the the corporate world. Enter with a clear state of mind, and always be open to learn and change with respect to the situations by adapting yourself.Think Fast, Act Faster!!!

India's rapid rate of economic growth over the past decade has been one of the most significant developments in the global economy. This growth traces its origin in the introduction of economic liberalization in the early 1990s, which has equipped India to exploit its economic potential and substantially raise the standard of living of its people. Together with other financial services, insurance services contributed 7% of the country's GDP in 2009. A well developed and evolved insurance sector is a boon for economic development as it provides long-term funds for infrastructure development and concurrently strengthens the risk-taking ability of the country. Further, insurance has been a notable employment generator, not only for the insurance industry, but has also created significant demand for a range of associated professionals such as brokers, insurance advisors, agents, underwriters, claims managers and actuaries. The period post-sector liberalization, Phase - I industry recorded a CAGR of 24.2% in annualized premium equivalent during Fy00–05. The next four to five years can be termed as Phase - II, which saw players focus on an expanding product range, developing innovative products and building a robust distribution channel. During this period, i.e., FY05–09, the industry grew at a CAGR of 25.9%. As a result, the focus shifted from ”growth” to ”profitability,” with product pricing becoming more rational based on more conservative assumptions.

In the present era, recently Finance Minister P. Chidambaram told the media that the proposal to hike the FDI cap in insurance sector to 49 percent has been passed as a bill. He added, "The insurance regulator has categorically stated that insurance requires huge capital. It will only come if we can raise the FDI limit, A hike in FDI limit comes as a big relief to the cash-starved life insurance companies who have been badly in need of fresh capital in the company. While, general insurance companies welcome this reform, they will be currently more focused on cutting down their losses and improve profitability.

According to the amendment, the public sector insurance companies will adopt government policy and remain PSUs, while the benefit of increased foreign investment will go to private sector insurers. The foreign investment limit will be composite, including both FDI and FII. It is assumed that there is lot of interest from foreign investors in the Indian insurance and pension markets; it will take a while for the foreign investors to increase their stakes. Opening up the FDI in insurance will enable more capital to flow in and foster investor confidence.

COREThis will lead to well-thought-out products, which make sense both for policyholders and the companies, efficient distribution, and appropriate pricing. The insurance industry as a whole has had an aggressive growth over the last few years. It was time for regulator to take stock of what is happening and make changes to foster good quality growth in the sector.

The Finance Minister stressed that the insurance sector needed huge money, and if the FDI limit was kept at 26 per cent, no additional funds would flow in. According to him, raising the FDI limit to 49 per cent would bring in foreign funds, which would benefit the domestic Indian insurance industry.

FDI in insurance is being recognized by economists with various benefits, they argue that the foreign insurers come in with not only the capital but the technical knowhow is also transformed in the country. The profits generated from the operations can be invested in the government priority sectors lessening the burden on government and it saves the funds which otherwise government was required to invest. The funds saved can therefore be diverted to the other priority areas needing attention. The cabinet has given the nod to 49 per cent FDI in the insurance sector.

Subrat Mohanty, Executive VP, HDFC Life expects this to be positive for the industry as it will help draw in foreign capital. It is hoped that the increase in FDI along with other measures proposed by the govt. will help revive the sector which has been struggling for the past 2 years. The government, regulator and the insurance companies are now focused on maintaining a favorable environment for ustainable growth, higher contribution of the industry to economic development and the increasing reach of insurance to the underdeveloped areas of the country. To summarize, the Indian insurance industry is poised for a quantum leap in performance with unprecedented growth opportunities, notwithstanding a temporary sliding growth curve. The stage is now well poised for the real show to commence.

A reconfigurable processor is a microprocessor with erasable hardware that can rewire itself dynamically. This allows the chip to adapt effectively to the programming tasks demanded by the particular software they are interfacing with at any given time. When a particular software is loaded the present hardware design is erased and a new hardware design is generated by making a particular number of connections active while making others idle. It is possible to get ten times better performance, with ten times lower energy consumption at the same time. Ideally, the reconfigurable processor can transform itself from a video chip to a central processing unit to a graphics chip.

Chameleon chips are able to rewire themselves on the fly to create the exact hardware needed to run a piece of software at the utmost speed. An example of such kind of a chip is a chameleon chip. This can also be called a “chip on demand”. For example, a single device could serve as both a camera and a tape recorder, you would simply download the desired software and the processor would reconfigure itself to optimize performance for that function. According to a recent Red Herring magazine article, that type of device versatility may be available by 2003. Reconfigurable processor chip usually contains several parallel processing computational units known as functional blocks. These functional blocks are connected in all the possible way. While reconfiguring the chip, the connections inside the functional blocks and the connections in between the functional blocks are changing. One of the most promising approaches in the realm of reconfigurable architecture is a technology called field-programmable gate arrays.

The key to the design is the small size of each processing element. The smallest segments of the chip can be defined with just 50 bits of software code, so the entire chip can be reprogrammed with just 50,000 bits of software description. It takes just 20 microseconds to reconfigure the entire processing array.

Reconfigurable processors are currently available from Chameleon Systems, Billions of Operations , and Parallel Array Computing Technology. Among those only Chameleon is providing a design environment, which allows customers to convert their algorithms tohardware configuration by themselves.

1. eCONFIGURABLE TECHNOLOGY This technology reconfigures fabric in one clock cycle and increases voice/data/video channels per chip. As mentioned earlier, each Slice can be configured independently. Loading the Background Plane from external memory requires just 3 µsec per Slice; this operation does not interfere with active processing on the Fabric. Swapping the Background Plane into the Active Plane requires just one clock cycle. With eConfigurable Technology; the four algorithms are loaded into the entire reconfigurable processing Fabric one at a time.

2. C~SIDE Development Tools The Chameleon Systems Integrated Development Environment (C~SIDE) is a complete toolkit for designing, debugging and verifying RCP designs. C~Side uses a combined C language and Verilog flow to map algorithms into the chip's reconfigurable processing fabric (RPF). With this software, Chameleon Systems are providing the ability for the customers to do the programming themselves thus keeping the secrecy of their algorithms. C~Side uses a combined C language and Verilog flow to map algorithms into the chip's reconfigurable processing fabric . 3. eBIOSeBIOS provides a interface between the Embedded Processor System and the Fabric. eBIOS provides resource allocation, configuration management and DMA services. The eBIOS calls are automatically generated at compile time, but can be edited for precise control of any function.

One day, someone will make a chip that does everything for the ultimate consumer device. The chip will be smart enough to be the brains of a cell phone that can transmit or receive calls anywhere in the world.

If the reception is poor, the phone will automatically adjust so that the quality improves. At the same time, the device will also serve as a handheld organizer and a player for music, videos, or games.

Now a new kind of chip adapts to any programming task by effectively erasing its hardware design and regenerating new hardware design that is perfectly suited to run the software at hand. These chips are referred to as reconfigurable processors. These new chips are able to rewire themselves on the fly to create the exact hardware needed to run a piece of software at the utmost speed. If these adaptable chips can reach cost-performance parity with hard-wired chips, so will the gadgets of the information age.

There is demand for people who have that uncanny knack of knowing which metrics are valuable for the organization they serve,” says C K Guruprasad, search consultant for the technology practice at global executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles India. Analytics solutions involve technology, as also human intervention to further refine the results that technology provides.

IBM, which has a major analytics centre of excellence in India that services the globe, recently announced that its analytics is enabling Jet Airways to accurately calculate, track and report aircraft emissions, and optimize its fuel usage by detailed analysis of each flight.

HCL Technologies is creating a digital lobby for an MNC bank that can track what account holders are talking about it on Facebook and LinkedIn. This will help bank staff to serve their customers better.

IBM, Accenture, Genpact and the big Indian IT companies all have fairly broad analytics practices today. Numerous startups too have emerged, with proprietary analytics technologies and methodologies. Startups tend to be more focused.

TrendTheory on economic freedom dates most notably back to 1776 with Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations. His book emphasizes the lesson that governing bodies that protect their individual members' pursuit of economic interest leads to greater individual and overall prosperity.

Economic freedom quite simply means the freedom to choose – who you work for, who you buy from and what you buy, whom you employ, what you pay, and so on. Heavy (but not all) government regulation is the enemy of economic freedom because it limits that choice. So too is monopoly, whether it be a state monopoly or a private monopoly. Competition, on the other hand, usually expands opportunity and choice and thus freedom.

However, freedom of choice implies not just the theoretical possibility of choice but also the actual ability to exercise choice. For the poor son of a landless laborer, stunted by malnutrition and inadequate health care, and incapacitated by what passes for education in public schools where teachers neither show up let alone teach, the employment choices thrown up by the growing Indian economy are not meaningful.

The lack of access for vast segments of our population is something our politicians are acutely aware of, for it reflects their own past failures. Yet rather than tackling the issues directly, many of them attempt to deal with the symptoms. The easiest way to put people in jobs is not to improve infrastructure, so that manufacturing jobs can be created for the unskilled, but to expand the size of the government and the public sector so that the unemployable can be given “make-jobs”. The easiest way to put the poorly educated through college is not to improve the quality of primary and secondary public education, so they can compete successfully in entrance exams, but to reserve seats for them. The easiest way to give people access to finance is not to create a better environment for microfinance, but to force lending quotas on the banks. The Heritage Foundation & Wall Street Journal put together The Freedom Index. The Index measures the degree of 157 counties' economic freedom on a score of 0 to 100.

Countries with lower degrees of economic freedom typically claim that freedom is restricted for the good of the people (for example, China's recent lending restriction discussed below), but The Freedom Index seems to disprove this. average citizen's income. According to the latest standings, Hong Kong possesses the first place in terms of economic freedom followed by Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland. India's economic freedom score is 54.6, making its economy the 123rd freest in the 2012 index. Its score is unchanged from last year, with an improvement in labor freedom offset by declining scores in five other areas including business freedom, freedom from corruption, government spending, and monetary freedom. India is ranked 25th out of 41 countries in the Asia–Pacific region, and its overall score is below the world average. Despite India's high economic growth, the foundations for long-term economic development remain fragile in the absence of an efficiently functioning legal framework. Corruption, endemic throughout the economy, is becoming even more serious. The state maintains an extensive presence in many sectors through state-owned enterprises, and the legacy of decades of failed socialist policies includes a substantial tolerance for government meddling in economic activity.

The Indian Index, however, is based on the three parameters which are size of the government, legal structure and security of property rights, and regulation of business and labor. The Indian Index ranks 20 states of India for which data is available.

States in India which are economically more free are also doing better in terms of a higher per capita growth for its citizens, unemployment levels are lower in these states, sanitary conditions are better and the states also attract more investments.

The top three states in economic freedom in 2009 were Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh, in that order. This is significantly different from 2005, when Tamil Nadu was still on top but Madhya Pradesh came 2nd, Himachal Pradesh 3rd, Haryana 4th, and Gujarat 5th.

The bottom three states in 2009, in reverse order, were Bihar, Uttarakhand and Assam. Back in 2005, Bihar was still last (20th), Assam was 19th and West Bengal was 18th.

The state with the fastest improvement in economic freedom was Andhra Pradesh, moving up from 7th position in 2005 to 3rd position in 2009. Its index score went up from 0.40 to 0.51 on a scale from 0 (no freedom) to 1 (high freedom), an improvement of 27.25 per cent. The second fastest improver was Gujarat, moving up from 5th to 2nd position.

After all, the discussion boils down to the comparison between the situation when there was less or no economic freedom and now when there is comparatively more freedom on this ground. During the 1990's, with the move of liberalization, economic freedom eased up and the country started recording positive growth. From then till now, we have maintained a steady growth and at the same time we have provided gradual yet steady freedom to the different sections affecting economy. With the recent second round of reforms India is moving in the right track towards a bright future.

Economics HR ParadigmsOften, the job description we are acquainted with during the interview stage does not match up to the job role we are conferred upon post joining .

How vital is it for organization to specify and answer with clarity the inevitable question, "What would my job role be?" during an interview? The interview stage becomes a platform for prudent deliberation as it is during this stage that one is informed about their job description (read: essential information concerning the accountabilities, duties, and responsibilities of the job seeker) and it is post this stage that the hired employee is faced with the varying reality of the said job role.

It is critical the candidate is given a clear role description. In the event of non-clarity by the organisation, it creates a gap in the trust factor between the employer and employee at the entry level, which is not sustainable in the long run. The job of the HR manager is to understand the role clearly and then float it in the market to get the right candidate. This is also important for lateral hires. It is important for the HR person to personally explain to the candidate what the role is and what is expected from this position.

From an organizational perspective, what could be the adverse ramifications of providing a prospective hire with an ambiguous job description?

The negative ramifications could be that the employee may not get enough clarity and may choose not to join. The obvious negative ramification is infant attrition (loss of the candidate in the first three months of joining). This is not only a huge loss of time, but also has a bearing on the organisation's brand, as infant attrition always results in negative branding.Keeping in mind the change management , it sometimes is not easy for the HR manager to clearly mention to the candidate the clear job role due the dynamic environment and the everyday occurring of changes; it so happens that the candidate ends up doing something else that the pre-defined job role as such.

According to me, FDI in retail sector with the prospective of marketing would be facing a number of challenges in context to Economy, Branding, Technology, Joint ventures etc. Now with an overview of all this prospects it can be like, for:

• Economics of Scale: The global players have economies of scale and are perfect in cost cutting and providing the consumer the best at the lowest price, which still is a major challenge for Indian retail firms.• Brand Name: They bring with them world class products which have high quality and a highly valued brand name.• Technology: Global players are highly advance in technology. The tools, equipments, kind of warehouses they use, their way of performing processes are highly advance and cannot be compared with those used by Indian retail firms.• Attract skilled employees: Their approach is more oriented towards achieving ends rather than means. Attractive salary and high incentive can also attract skilled employees towards global players.• Joint ventures: Global players may not prefer to enter into joint ventures with Indian firms and may also close down the existing ventures in wholesale and single brand which may adversely affect the Indian firms.

Sonal Sharma.MBA I

I will discuss the “FDI in the retail” from the financial point of view, goes this way that, FDI in multi brand retail is needed in the long term, its passage may act as a sentiment booster the market desperately needs. Also what is good for the economy or the sector need not be good for individual companies. For example: several cash strapped companies from the retail sector may be hoping that they can divert a part of the stake to the foreign players and use the money to repay their debts.

Some may also want to sell out totally if 100% FDI. However, it will be risky to assume that the only option available to global retail players like WALLMART and TESCO is to buy existing players. In fact, the probability of that happening is remote.Even if it happens, existing players may not be able to get a very high price because most them are not doing well now. “FDI in multi-brand retail” is going to benefit existing Indian players only if foreign players buy partial buy partial or full stake in these companies. Opinion on FDI Retails in India

For several struggling retail companies in India, the government's decision of allowing FDI in the sector has renewed hope within the sector. However, the policy comes with several strings attached - FDI of 51 percent has been allowed in cities with populations of over one million, and states can choose not to allow foreign players. Another caveat attached to this policy is that at least 30 percent of the goods should be sourced from local suppliers. The policy also mandates at least 50 percent of the minimum investment amount of USD100 million must be invested in back-end operations; therefore, multi-channel retailing may attract significant IT investment.

Considering the sub-optimal state of back-end infrastructure in India - including cold chain storage, supply chain management and inventory management - this measure could give a much needed boost to the sector that faced a wastage of around 7 percent of total produce.HARSH SONI – MBA 2

Entering a new player would create more business opportunities and due to close competition it would at last benefit to consumer. The threat for unorganized retail that they would be eliminated is not true at all, because we have already Indian players into organized retail and local kiranas are not affected. This would create more employment opportunity and at last good for the recovery of economy. DARSHIK DWIVEDI - MBA 2

FDI is the best weapon that a country can have for achieving growth. Along with the fact that it beings in more employment opportunities, it will also reform our traditional HR practices, I mean introduction of interesting compensation and benefits, leave policies, special allowances etc. Along with these fruitful positives, it will also bring up new challenges like managing multicultural workforce, multi-talented people etc. ABHILASH MENON - MBA 2

India is a steadily growing economy in majority of its sectors. It has made India one of the most famous and popular destination in the world, for Foreign Direct Investment.

It will boost Indian market as local content requirement will fetch and will increase level of forex into Indian economy. According to me, FDI will work very effectively as India has 50% of its total population which is of productive age and just a news of FDI in India has brought 19000 crores in Indian Economy last week. So we can hope for the best as India has a potential to make others feel its presence as one of the powerful nations in world.HARDIK PATEL – MBA 2

I think FDI in retail should be allowed as it has the potential to bring into India foreign capital, technology that took years for patenting and managerial expertise of big international retailers. It will create a vast employment opportunities for unskilled and skilled employees/labor. It can also develop an efficient linkage between the back-end supply chain and the front-end via capital investment and technological inputs. And thus the fear that FDI will have a negative impact on the small retailers is completely wrong.RADHIKA VEDULA MBA 1

Diary Of a Tech-AddictHi! All of us, in today's world, encounter on a daily basis, technology. May it be the humble paper clip or the more complex personal computers; we're all surrounded by technology that is supposed to make our lives better. It may not always do that, yet we are inclined to think so! Our dependency on technology is only increasing every day. On that note, I am a tech-addict and proud to say so! Through this column, I will give all of you a brief insight into the developments in the world of technology to keep you updated and clued into about the “next big thing”.

The Apple iPhone5 is the latest model in the popular iPhone series of smart-phones. Compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 4S, it offers a larger screen, a faster processor, a newer version of the iOS (albeit, the 4S will get the update too) and a promise of better performance. A comparison is in order then: The iPhone5 features an A6 processor as compared to the A5 on the 4S which essentially means faster processing of tasks, quick booting of apps and better multimedia capabilities like playing 3D games and viewing high-def video without lag. It also has a 4 inch screen as compared to the 4S's 3.5 inch screen with better resolution and a higher resolution front camera (for video calling) than the 4S's VGA resolution front-camera. This means that it will have a sharper, crisper and better display than its predecessor and better video during video calls. A newer version of the popular operating system iOS, the iOS 6 will also be pre-installed on the iPhone5, although, as I mentioned above, the 4S will be updated too. The AC charger has also been revamped with a new “Lightning” pin as compared to the older 30 pin charger. These updates are a slight improvement on the predecessor and according to the experts, offer nothing path-breaking or really exciting.

Now, we come to the most important question: how much will it lighten one's wallet? As we all know, the iPhone has become more of a status symbol to own and less of a gadget, in recent years and has its own set of followers and fans, which is huge. In keeping with this, in the USA, the 16GB variant, on lease, will start from $199 and the top-end, 64GB variant, on contract, will cost $399. However, we in India will have to lighten our pockets substantially to own one of these. Although, the official launch in India is away, rumours suggest that it will be in the bracket of Rs. 50,000 to Rs.70,000 which is a huge amount, to say the least but, admiring a thing of beauty doesn't cost a dime now, does it ? Till we can afford it, it will be stuff that dreams are made of. Likewise, I will keep you posted on such developments in the

Much of the anxiety I experience comes through my relationships. Isn’t it reasonable to expect some understanding from other people?

When you live in this world, there are various complex interactions happening. As your field-of-play increases, complexity of interaction also increases. If you are just sitting in a cubicle, working on your computer with only one other person, you need only a little understanding; but if you are managing a thousand people, you need good understanding of everybody- you won’t be able to manage if you want all these people to understand you. You need to understand the limitations and capabilities of these thousand people and do what you can; only then will you have the power to move the situation the way you want it to go. If you are waiting for these thousand people to understand you and act, it is a pipe dream; it won’t happen.

The closer the relationship, the more effort you need to make to understand them. Somebody becomes closer and dearer to you only as you understand them better. If they understand you, they enjoy the closeness of the relationship. If you are expecting the other to comply with you all the time while you don’t understand limitations, possibilities, needs and capabilities of that person, then conflict happens; it is a given. Unfortunately, the closest relationships have more conflict going on than between enemies.

In your relationships, you have fought many more battles than these and are still fighting, isn’t it so? This is because your line of understanding and theirs is different. If you cross this Line of Control, they get made. If they cross it, you get mad. If you move your understanding beyond theirs, their understanding also becomes a part of yours. You’ll be able to embrace their limitations and capabilities. In everyone, there are positive and negative aspects. If you embrace all this in your understanding, you can make the relationship the way you want it. If you leave it to their understanding, it will become accidental. If they are magnanimous, things will happen well for you; if not, the relationship will break up.

Do you want to be the one who decides what happens to your life? Whether they are intimate relationships, professional, political, global or whatever, don’t you want to be the person who decides what happens in your life? If you do, include everything and everybody into your understanding. Enhance your understanding to a point that you can look beyond people’s madness also. There are wonderful people around you, but once in a while they like to go crazy for a few minutes. If you don’t understand that, you will lose them. If you do, then you know how to handle them. Life is not always linear; you have to do many things to keep it going. If you forsake your understanding, your capability will be lost. Whether it is a question of personal relationships or professional management, you need understanding; otherwise, you will not have fruitful relationships.

The way you are right now, the very quality of your life is decided by the type of relationships you hold. Make the effort to understand people around you.

Coming out from the levity of high school, college life was all together a new beginning. Along with that came the shock of being away from home! “Home sweet Home” is the most common but true cliché. Being in a small city like Baroda had its own pros and cons but somehow I took an opportunity and moved out to Ahmedabad.

Life away from home is life away from parents, family and school friends. Yet, the chance of meeting new friends + college life + living as a paying guest was worth it. Initially it took a toll. It took time to adjust and be comfortable as I was so used to my mother handling every situation. Gradually I became prudent and pragmatic. I then realized managing the maids was not so easy! Being obstinate over food issues stopped, I craved for home food. Going back home after was the best part of the fortnight. Travelling and music became more significant for me. Internal misunderstandings between the girls did happen but never the less it taught us to be stronger and never to lose hope. Administration of finances, studies, brokers and commissions, emotional security and last but not the least health, all these were the issues in our lives.

What I was enjoying the most was the independence this city gave me. I started respecting and giving due importance to time. And as they say, time and tide-wait for none, I was no one special. I had my own share of highs and lows. One day messed up, another elated! It’s my 5th year living as a paying guest, and the journey has been magnificent.

A piece of advice for all the students living as paying guests (apart from paying the rent on time) … these years will be the most memorable years of your life. Its up to you, how well you shape it up! Never put your studies on stake for anything and anyone, as knowledge is wealth. Managing your house, studies, finances and college life is the first step towards being a manager. Good luck!

Definitely the title would have brought you in a total mess to what I’m talking about. I can understand words used in the title are quite conflict with each other. Now without allowing you to get into any another confusion I would I like elaborate that we (BBA I) were given an opportunity to do a group activity for preparing a community lunch for our wonderful faculties at amity and here what comes the real twist, we were all new and hardly knowing each other and were told to work together as a team, the first management lesson at our initial sessions. It seemed to be impossible to prepare a lunch, with coordination of the whole class and doing it when you are told to do it just a day before. Something was to be done; the day announcement was done the next day we had to provide lunch. The same day we collectively sat and came up with different ideas over the menu as we came up with ourideas, itcovered all the

dishes across the globe and then after a lot of confusion, discussion and fun we finally landed with our menu with a title “deSi-videSi”.Yes, desi videsi because we gave videsi food which was served in desi theme .we welcomed our faculties with a garland of marigold flowers as we welcome our guest in our Indian custom i.e. the desi touch. Then the menu rocked with ice tea in the beginning, then we served with lavishing garlic bread and pizza then in the end we served our faculties an ice cream with a Parle-g Cake which was an all-

new invention of our class which turned out great. It seemed to be an easy task truly saying it only seems so but it’s not ,if the things are not managed properly prior to the event the things will turn all upside down. Since it was our first time experience many things went wrong lack of coordination, some last minute changes , preparing of food with regular & fast service all the things were not perfect and are not every time but finally we did it. The joy of completing the task successfully makes you feel on the top of the world and even a single note of appreciation motivates you to even work harder and better. Working all as team, getting to know each other was a wonderful experience and I would cherish such moments throughout my life.

Yes, it was indeed a breathtaking experience at Custody, Gulmohar Park, on 21st September 2012, when the juniors, seniors, faculties and other staffs shook their legs according to the music played by the DJ. It is imperative to say, our juniors who are packed with multi-talent, showed their charisma in the ‘Freshers Hunt 2012’ competition. Fun and entertainment quotient went a notch up when Clean & ClearTM Ahmedabad Times Fresh Face 2012 visited Amity Global Business School. The atmosphere and the electrifying performances made the event a rocking one, not just with the students, but with the panel of judges as well that comprised designer Purvi Doshi, model Ishita Sarkar and RJ Vashishth from Radio Mirchi. EMCEE Rohan put up a brilliant show as his wits and antics had everyone in splits. The students proved that they are not just a boring lot of corporate professionals, but also great entertainers. As the crowd sportingly supported and cheered for every participant, the students showcased a variety of talents from singing to playing the guitar to electrifying dances to a lot more. The judges were impressed with the talent they came across. Purvi Doshi says, “I really enjoyed the evening a lot. The confidence and the energy levels of the students have undergone tremendous change and this event just seems to be growing by every passing year. These kind of events should be encouraged so that we can encourage talent and give these students a platform to showcase their abilities.” Agrees, Ishita, “I feel the students of this college were amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I am very happy to be a part of this event.” Sagar Shukla who won everyone’s heart during the evening says, “It feels awesome to have taken part in this event. Since last year I was following this event — I was making the required preparations. I love to dance and perform in such events. I am really looking forward to the next rounds and competing with boys from other colleges and win it too. I am all game for it.”

The known economic history of India begins around 3000 B.C. with the Indus Valley Civilization. The Indus Civilization's economy appears to have depended significantly on Trade, which was facilitated by major advances in Transport Technology. These advances include bullock drives, carts as well as boats. A recent survey undertaken by the Discovery Channel proved that even before 5000 years the coastel regions of india trading with the countries like "THE EGYPTIAN EMPIRE","THE GREEK EMPIRE","THE CHINESE EMPIRE" etc. earned money upto that great extent that cosmo cities like New York & San Fransisco dont even earn TODAY!!! Unfortunately, the tragic economical downfall today is caused by the "GOOD JOBS" of the politicians who rather prefer the development of their Bank Balance & not of the Indian Economy. Price hikes & Inflation is a "ROPE OF DEATH AROUND THE COMMON MAN'S NECK".....

The new generations of India knows & understands the needs of change in the economical structure. They also have their own views, perceptions & goals to fulfill them. But,as they say "KAL KARE SO AAJ KAR;AUR AAJ KARE SO AB"........ just knowing & aiming is not at all enough. Its quite mandatory to work on it; & hit the "BULL'S EYE". The new blood is the only hope to stabilize the present economical structure. Its upto us now to bring back "THE GOLDEN PEGION" to its original Legacy. The first known trade done by India with other countries was of Spices, Boats, etc. Given today India exports Spices, Wheat, Rice, Grains, Gold, Clothes, Vegetables, etc. But the major difference between Olden Trade System & New Economic Structure is that, though the Old Trade System was not very advanced as compared to the new gigantic Economic Structure today; but the people then earned much more than today. The reason for that could be that the people in olden times comparatively more honest,& the most important of all "The Taxation System" was not as heavy & complicated as today. Despite of having a very huge Economic Structure "today we still lack a well organized system, simple & affordable taxation Structure, support by a just, supportive, understanding government which would be fair providing better service, to the people rather than helping their own friends & family only.

Today the new generation can be considered as the last & the only hope to arise a detoriorating empire & bring back its forbidden ancient title - "THE GOLDEN PIGEON"

The Golden Pigeon Ganesh PoojaThis year we at AGBS Ahmedabad, celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with great pomp and fervor for the very first time by bringing on campus a small plaster of paris made statue of God Ganesh. The celebrations went off for 3 days, i.e. 19th, 20th and 21st September. Before the Sthapna of Ganeshji on 19th September, students divided the responsibility of bringing various decorative articles, colors, lightings, flowers, prashad, sweets as well the turns of ‘arti’ classwise etc among themselves.

On 19th and 20th September, everyone performed the puja and staphna in the morning and similarly in the evening before closing of the college with all devotion and faith. On 21st September, on the day of “Visarjan”, everyone performed “Visarjan Puja” with great enthusiasm and reverence. The occasion was made more memorable with the joyous beats of Drums and Dhols which echoed along with the chanting of “GANPATI BAPA MORIYA, PUDHACHYA VARSHI LAUKAR YA”

Finally GanpatiJee was bid aideu and was immersed in river Sabarmati along with the prayer of returning early next year.

PoemsSMILE

It is a special attribute,That could pierce the hearts. Nothing to lose, but only to gain,Has no bounds and reservations,And no need to strain for a smile.

It is a symbol of prosperity,Which blossoms colors in our lives, Which boosts one’s passions and Even consolidate the minds.I consider it to be divine,That could be dissipated as a chainWhich could shear the enemies,And could purify our hearts,An eternal one can even revolutionize the world.

But deplorable should I say,It is losing naturality, day by day,With man’s eagerness to flourish.

So friends, always keep a nice smile on your face.

Dear Season

Dear Season please bring a new changeplease don’t be just the sameyesterday you were so coldand were so bright as gold

even a glimpse of you dear made me stun and shiveryour smile is so surprisemake me just mesmerize

I tried to come near youbut you were just so blueI can’t believe had just no clueand then the weather changed as a slue

B. Most insulting lines on a board in front of a company.“Beggars with plate and fresher with resumes are not allowed”.

C. In baiting a mouse trap with cheese, always leave room for the mouse. !

D. Anger is just one word short of danger.

E. A lie can travel half of the world…. While a truth is still putting the shoes. !

F. Life is a question that nobody can answer it, death is an answer that nobody can question it. !

G. “When we start our journey, the destination seems the most important thing. But when we reach there, we realize that actually the journey was our destiny.”
