Art Exhibits at Incredible Artist and the Pickfair Promenade, hosted by Rick Pantele. Featuring amazing work from Craig Semetko, Kimberly Zsebe, Scott Christopher, Elizabeth Christopher, Gordy Grundy, Chris Redman and many more...Robert Zuckerman, Photographer

Will Smith calls him ‘Picasso.’ Jerry Bruckheimer, Denzel Washington and Michael Bay vie to have him on their film sets. Arnold Schwarzenegger introduced him to President Bill Clinton by saying “This is Robert Zuckerman, the best photographer I have ever worked with.”

As a photographer in the motion picture industry, Robert Zuckerman’s images have become the advertising and publicity campaigns for such films as “The Crow,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “Any Given Sunday,” “Training Day,” “Terminator 3,” “Bad Boys 2”, “National Treasure,” “Transformers,” “Pursuit of Happyness” and “The Great Debaters,” among others, as well as television series including “The Shield,” “Rescue Me” and “Nip/Tuck.” He has done recent album cover and movie poster photography for Will Smith and was invited to be the personal photographer for the family of Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz.

Whether on or off the set, his connection is to emotional content, to the feeling present in the subject and in the moment. Zuckerman has photographed countless weddings, family portraits, and pregnancy pictures – anything where there is spirit and love in the room, from the inner city to the mansions of Malibu.

“For me, photography as much as possible has become an integration of life and craft. Through it I am able to give value to people’s lives and derive value in my own life, beyond making a living.” www.robertzuckerman.com

NICOL RAGLANDAs an artist and photographer, Nicol Ragland travels the world in search

of stories that evoke images of truth and the art of being human. A love of photography and the wisdom of the indigenous has taken

her to work as a photojournalist in Burma, Cambodia, Laos, India, Nepal, Thailand, Belize, Costa Rica, Kenya, Morocco, Rwanda, Peru, Indonesia and Timor Leste. Her current documentary project is focused on The Hadzabe tribe of Tanzania, one of the last remaining tribes of hunter-gatherers in the world.

An avid environmentalist advocating for social justice, she aligns her work to serve numerous non-profit organizations including St. Jude’s Hospital, Global Service Corps. of Tanzania, International Fund for Animal Welfare, The Millennium Village of Rwanda, World Neighbors and The Cine Institute of Haiti.

For the past ten years, Nicol has been influenced and informed by her time spent with the Indigenous and continues to engage in a long term photographic exploration into humanity’s relationship to culture, the wild, sustainability of the planet and how best we can, collectively, navigate a way out of the disease of disconnection that plagues modernity.

As a fine art series, ‘Between Two Worlds’ is meant to subvert separatist thinking by poetically reflecting back the destruction of life amongst the speed of our industrialized society.

Nicol aspires to push the dimensions of visual possibility, personal meaning and metaphorical potential while questioning the boundaries of rule.

Born and raised in Oklahoma. BA Environmental Science – University of Denver. BA Photography – Colorado Institute of Art. Nicol currently calls Venice, California home.

Dan Eldon In 1993, artist and photojournalist Dan Eldon was covering the famine

and unrest in Somalia for Reuters News Agency when UN forces bombed the residence of warlord Aidid. Enraged loyalist supporters violently retaliated, murdering Eldon and three other western journalists.

Although his life was short, Eldon lived his years with voracious passion, leading an aid mission across Africa, working as a graphic designer for Mademoiselle Magazine, publishing a book, directing a short film and creating 17 extraordinarily powerful volumes of art work, all before the age of 22.

In the pages that fill the bulging journals, Eldon reveals imagistic insight into his extraordinary perspective on the world. Filled with snapshots of his life growing up as a young expatriate in Kenya, explosive images taken in war-torn Somalia and detailed drawings of the world around him, the journal works blend the photographic reality with the transient ephemera of his everyday to create a vivid blueprint of Eldon’s imagination.

James Klienert, Artist, Photographer and Activist“My interest in documenting American’s wild horses began while

working on my film ‘Spirit Riders’ about the birth of an American Indian peace movement, as well as learning about the removal of these beautiful wild animals while living in Wyoming,” says James

Anaquad Kleinert. “I’m excited for the opportunity to share my five year journey on Documentary Channel, and I hope this film will not only educate viewers about the disturbing, massive removal of our horses but to inspire change to the future of these precious animals.”

Background: James Anaquad Kleinert was not your normal, everyday kid. When other kids were throwing snowballs and sledding, he was experimenting with aerial ski jumping in his back yard in rural Wisconsin. No one in his family could quite understand his drive and intent to train for this “dangerous sport” except for his grandfather, who was of Seneca American Indian heritage and understood the trials and tests of young boys. From this simple start, James became a World Cup competitor in freestyle aerials, and a top action, environmental and Native American filmmaker.

Filmmaker: Today, James Anaquad Kleinert continues to release film projects dealing with Native American, environmental and action sport themes from his company, Moving Cloud Productions. His works include:

Wild Horse Spirit, is airing on the National PBS show Natural Hero’s and recently won an Emmy. Featuring actor Viggo Mortenson (Lord of the Rings, Hidalgo) the film educates and moves audiences to take immediate action to save America’s wild horses. (7 minutes)

Spirit Riders: Riding To Mend the Sacred Hoop, an award-winning documentary that James Anaquad Kleinert worked on over a period of ten years. Currently showing a 15-minute clip on HBO.com, Spirit Riders is the companion documentary film to Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee. Capturing the ruggedness, beauty and raw emotions of the spirit rides of the Lakota Indians as they ride in the four directions on horseback, James Anaquad Kleinert shares their quest to raise consciousness and spread a message of peace and unity throughout all nations on Mother Earth. The film features actor Viggo Mortenson Lord of the Rings, Hidalgo), narration by Peter Coyote and Floyd Red Crow Westerman, with a soundtrack featuring the works of Native American Grammy-winner Bill Miller, Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen and singer/songwriter Lauren Monroe, Keith Secola, Robert Meribal, Stumpa, Peter Buffet, and Medicine Dream.

Saturday June 15th - 11:00 am – 12:00 pmAT THE INTERSECTION OF ART AND FILM: A PANEL CONvERSATIONThis panel will focus on the blurring of boundaries between art and film and explore several questions:

-What motivates artists to explore narrative cinema and some filmmakers to choose to define their work as “art” versus “cinema”?- What can projects originating in the art world learn from financing and distribution in film, and how can filmmakers better learn to navigate the art world?-How does the idea of co-ownership in media-based works become more widely understood, relevant and accepted?

Films are art in themselves-whether it’s in the subject matter or presentation. More artists are turning to film and new media, acknowledging that cinema can be the most powerful way to convey their aesthetic. The art and film worlds are increasingly communicating and colliding, but there is a need for ongoing discussion about how these forms can be funded together to benefit the filmmaker and the artist, especially in the arena of creating and inciting social change. What can these worlds learn from each other?Join us for this thought-provoking conversation.Panelists:Nicole Ragland: Documentarian, Artist, PhotographerBernadine Santistevan: Writer, Director, Producer (Wolf Dog Tales)Adrian Belic: Director, Writer, Producer, Cinematographer (Beyond the Call)Amir Masud: Director, Writer, Producer (Affliction, We Win or We Die)Moderator, Talia Kosh, Esq.: President, New Mexico Attorneys for the Arts
