BETH BOLICK, DNP PPCNP-BC CPNP-AC FAAN is a RWJF Executive Nurse Fellow. During her fellowship she worked with a project team to provide tools for nurses to build and sustain human capital by reducing incivility and bullying in the healthcare setting. The work can be found at www.stopbullyingtoolkit.org. The toolkit has

been accessed by over 350,000 users from 143 countries. Dr. Bolick is Professor and Director of the Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at Rush University College of Nursing and lead editor for the text: Pediatric Acute Care: A Guide for Interprofessional Practice.

KATHERINE CURCI, PHD, CRNP, CNM has been an advanced practice nurse for over 30 years. She has worked in both academia and clinical practice. Over the last 10 years she has served in varying leadership roles at a large academic medical center. In her current role she is responsible for over 450 advanced practice providers. This includes all five roles of advanced practice, nurse practitioners,

physician assistants, clinical nurse specialist, certified nurse midwives, and nurse anesthetists. She plays a major role in approving new positions for advanced practice providers. It is important to her that no one ever be hired who might potentially lose their position because of the inability to objectively measure what that individual contributes to the mission of the institution. Productivity in her institution is measured in work relative value units based in billing data. Inpatient advanced practice providers do not bill so their contributions cannot be objectively measured. She undertook a project to correct this and therefore demonstrate the contribution of this important workforce.

MARIANNE ROGOFF, PHD is a creative writer and English professor, this presenter brings the perspective of the humanities to the work of scientists and healthcare providers. Her memoir Silvie’s Life has been presented at numerous conferences, along with related published articles on the ethics of end-of-life care. Silvie’s

Life was translated into Portuguese in 2006 and has contributed to international conversations in neonatal ethics. Hektoen International published her essay “Dance with Death” in Winter 2018. In summer of 2018 she presented the story of Silvie’s Life at Facultade de Letras, Universidade Lisboa, and at Il Jornadas de Cuidados Paliativos Pediatricos in Porto. In 2019, she participated in a Mental Health & Arts Initiative at San Francisco State University Psychology Seminars. She teaches in the MFA in Creative Writing Program at Dominican University of California, which has a Narrative Medicine track. Students who choose this track may be physicians, nurses, patients, or caregivers who wish to explore the emotional and psychological aspects of care and trauma through expression in writing.

ANITA CAITLIN, PHD, FNP, CNL, FAAN is a nurse researcher from California. She is certified in ethics consultation and as a clinical nurse leader. She has published over 100 ethics and research articles and is the past-president of the Nurses-Subsection of the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities, is past secretary of the National

Perinatal Association, a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, past President of the Sonoma State Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society chapter, and past instructor in the Johnson and Johnson Maternal Child Leadership Institute. Dr. Caitlin served on the ANA Council of Ethics and Human Rights and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Ethics Committee. She has been funded by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Nurses Foundation, the National Perinatal Foundation, Lambda Gamma Sigma Theta Tau, and multiple nursing organizations for her research. She is now Manager of Nursing Research at a Kaiser facility and has co-authored many articles with Kaiser nurses for publication. Dr. Caitlin mentors Kaiser nurses in advancing their academic and clinical careers. She is the current Interim Editor for the Journal of Pediatric Surgical Nursing.

TARA LOUX, MD is a pediatric surgeon with significant interest in medical ethics. Her qualifications are more experiential, derived from her front line daily work, and her interest in difficult conversations, but she has also extensively reviewed the literature surrounding medical ethics as it relates specifically

to pediatric surgery and have several mentors with more discrete academic qualifications. She has previously presented her findings in institutional Grand Rounds format.
