Americans since the Pilgrims arrived atPlymouth Rock. Below is someinteresting information aboutcranberries.
• The official name for cranberries isVaccinium macrocarpon.
• Cranberries are a great source ofvitamin C, fiber and potassium.
• Native Americans used cranberriesfor dyeing purposes.
• Eating cranberries helped sailors inpast years avoid developing scurvybecause of the vitamin C present.
• Cranberries are one of the threefruits native to North America.(Blueberries and Concord grapesare native to North America, also.)
• Cranberries are a great antioxidantsource.
• Cranberries are grown in wetlands(known as bogs), and somefarmers use helicopters to maintainthe crops.
• White cranberry juice is made fromcranberries harvested three weeksearly.
• Wisconsin is the top-producingstate for cranberries.
• Michigan has 250 acres ofcranberries.
American House will be servingcranberries this coming Thanksgiving.

Holiday Gift GivingEmployee Christmas FundAlthough our employees appreciate
kind gestures during the holidayseason to acknowledge their hardwork throughout the year, they are
not allowed to accept gifts orgratuities directly. That is why we
have set up theEmployee Christmas Fund!

The boilers in the building havebeen running for the past twomonths. If you want heat in yourapartments, you must turn thethermostat up to the desiredtemperature that you want.
If you set the thermostat at acertain temperature, and after half anhour it is still cold, notify the officeand they will contact me.
I want you to be warm andcomfortable this winter.
If you are decorating your roomsthis holiday season, make sure alllights and extension cords are ingood working order. If you’re notsure, just let the office know and I willstop by and check them for you.

bulbs for ceilinglights, vanity lights,
kitchen andbathroom lights.Mike can install or
change the bulbs butyou must provide thebulbs for him to doso. This is the same
for any batteryoperated device. Wedo not carry batteries
on-site. Pleaseremember to reportany problems to theoffice, not to Mike
directly.Dietary
Please do not comeinto the dining roomif you are not feelingwell. Sick trays will
be delivered for up tothree days for
influenza or after ahospitalization.Housekeeping
Please remember toadd all the dirty
clothes in the laundrybag that we providedyou at move in. Thehousekeepers willpick up your dirty
laundry and return itthe same day. Theyare not responsiblefor collecting soiled
laundry and putting itin the bag.
