First Amendment

We can Assemble, as long as, we

have permission & follow the rule

We have freedom of religion until we violate human & animal rights

We have rights of free speech, press, &

Petition, up to the extents of slander, libel,

censorship, & treason

Within the Third Amendment we do not have to house

troops, unless in times of war

or given permission

Second Amendments rights cannot be taken away;

only controlled through regulations

Our Fourth Amendment rights are protected through search warrants or probable cause

The Fifth Amendment helps protect a persons rights when it comesto indictments, grand juries,

double jeopardy, eminent domain, due process, & self-incrimination

The Sixth Amendment helps protects people’s rights when it comes to trials,

lawyers, & charges.

The Seventh Amendment entitles peopleto specific ways in handling civil cases.

The Eighth Amendment help set-up

standards defined with bail & punishments

When the Ninth Amendment formed it helped protect people’s privacy

& property even more.

The Tenth Amendment helps prevent Congress & the President from

becoming too powerful.

The Thirteenth Amendment has exceptions to the rule, in dealing with

punishments.

The Fourteenth Amendment gives everyone the same rights; while forbidding people

to infer in others rights.

The Fifthteenth Amendment helped form the idea of suffrage

The Seventeenth Amendment gave citizens a greater voice

in government

The Nineteenth Amendment gave women all rights “equal to men”

The Twenty-Third Amendment helped people have more of a

voice in Washington D.C.

The Twenty-Fourth Amendment, prevents voting restrictions such as

poll taxes & literacy test.

The Twenty- Sixth Amendment allows more people a greater voice in government

Struggles that gained Amendments

African-Americans civil rights were violated through forms of

discrimination & segregation(Jim Crow Laws)

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. & the Freedom Riders demonstrated the

need for change through non- violent protest.

Struggles that gained Amendments

Organizations such as the NUL & NAACP, provided help for

African-Americans & fought against discrimination

People participated in sit-ins & held court cases like

Brown vs. Board of Education to fight segregation

Outcomes from the struggles that Gained Amendments

Challenges Amendments Face Today

Racial Profiling can help prevent hate crimes; but at the same time it hinders equal rights & individuality

Affirmative Action helps minorities deal with discrimination; while facing

accusations in itself.
