Ambient Air Quality Monitoring
PM162M rack version, installed in a shelter with other AQMS analyzers. / Charging of
the filter holder
Example: mural version of the sampler, installed in a fixed, outdoor air quality
particulate monitoring station
KEY FEATURES: Small size rack or mural instrument, designed to automatically sample particles on
a filter using a TSP, PM10, PM2.5 or PM1 inlet
Available in 2 versions:
• Standard size filter holder with 22 filters capacity
• Very high capacity filter holder (max 70 filters) allowing up to 69 days of unattended
daily sampling of particulate matter
True volumetric air flow control with atmospheric temperature and pressure sensors
to avoid artifacts in the size fractionating inlet
Exclusive temperature-regulated sampling tube to prevent artefacts on the filter
(evaporative losses of semi-volatile particulates...)
Programmable Rest Time function: enables a rest time (without sampling) between
the sampling cycles
User-selectable starting time mode (immediate, delayed, hourly synchronization)
Interactive user-friendly multi-task software
Modular design
LCD Graphic Display
Remote maintenance and diagnostics
2 serial ports for remote access and downloading of stored data
Compliant with the last EU CEN recommendations for PM2.5 sampling and
measurement
EN 12341 certifed (LECES, n°RC/L 9826)
MAIN APPLICATIONS:• Sequential sampling through PM10, PM2.5, PM1 and TSP size selective inlets
• Heavy metals sampling in ambiant air
• Indoor air sampling
• Field survey before setting up of a continuous analyzer
• Follow-up of a specific pollutant...

OPERATING PRINCIPLE:The PM162M sampler is compliant with the EN12341 standard and can be used to determine
the average ambient particulate concentration over the sampling period. The collected
material is weighed to determine concentration and can be subsequently chemically
analyzed.
The PM162M fine dust sampling system is designed to collect particles with aerodynamic
diameters of approximately 100 μm or less to be deposited uniformly across the surface
of a filter located downstream of the sampler inlet.
By means of a blower, the ambient air passes through the size-selective inlet and is drawn
into a thermo-controlled RST sampling line equipped with a temperature and humidity
sensor. Atmospheric temperature, pressure and relative humidity are essential factors
that must be taken into account in order to maintain precise and reliable sampling. This
is why the sampler hosts atmospheric pressure and temperature sensors to ensure a
constant true volumetric flow control.
The RST (Regulated Sampling Tube) is compliant with CEN PM10 and US-EPA standard:
the sample is not affected by seasonal or geographical factors and avoids condensation
or evaporative losses of semi-volatile particles.
The sample will be then collected on the downstream filter, mounted on convenient reusable
filter holder cassettes. A unique serial number stamped on each cassette facilitates tracking
for quality insurance purposes.
The filter cassettes, designed to avoid any filter alteration during handling, can be used
with different types of filters:
• Nitrocellulose
• PTFE
• Quartz or Glass fiber.
