There’s a difference between ‘beat’ and ‘rhythm’ – I used to teach music and this difference

made a difference!

Beat is best described as a constant pulse,

usually at a consistent speed throughout a

song. Rhythm is what puts life into a song –

it’s different for each song, and these

patterns provide the energy and the soul

in a piece of music.

Family rhythms, or patterns of being together,

are sometimes understated.; tasks like doing the dishes

together, or bed-time routines. Others are larger

and take more consideration; the weekly meal with extended family or camping on long

weekends.

How do you know you have them?

Mostly when they are disrupted. Change is wonderful (as good as a holiday), but when

family rhythms are affected, there’s a longing to get back into them.

Jesus invites us into a life of rhythms with Him. Our walk with Him might look different to

others, but it’s the rhythms which help us to drink and keep us drinking the water of life

He offers. Patterns of thankfulness, repentance and prayer, regular time spent reading

the Bible and spending time with others who do the same, provides the fuel we need no

matter what our days bring to us.

My prayer is that you are enjoying the current rhythms of life.

The Year 7 students are back!

Last week, our Year 7 students were away experiencing the College's great Katherine Adventure Camp! Community activities were a focus as we worked together to pack buses, play, sing and chat. We did so much in the Katherine area including splashing in the hot springs, exploring the depths of Cutta-Cutta Caves and discovering facts about the history of Katherine and the Top End at the museum. We created natural ‘objects de art’, cruised on the river at the gorge, shared great food, swam at the top of Edith Falls, dressed-up as newspaper superheros, protected eggs and heard about God’s love and how He gives purpose to our lives. As things drew to a close, we reflected on special moments like camping away from home, the people who care for us, our unique country and the beautiful night sky. We were so blessed by our partnership with parents and so thankful to have your participation, enthusiasm, prayers and assistance for this trip. Thank you to the bus drivers, Geoff and Shaun; parent volunteers; our camp kitchen coordinator, Leanne; lifeguard and evening devotions leader, Maria; and the excellent support team of Ester, Jackie and Naomi. Their contributions created a wonderful, caring sense of community. A big thanks to Louise and the patient admin staff. From all the students and staff, a big thank you to everyone who helped make this year's amazing Year 7 Camp possible. God bless you all,

Around The CollegeTerm 3 has had an exciting start for our Year 8's as we have been able to jump into preparing for our upcoming camp in Litchfield.Year 8 is an important time for students to engage in deeper questions about how we belong and have our place in this world. We have been able to discuss issues that are important to students, as well as build friendships across our 3 classes. Most importantly, students have been working well together to conquer challenging activities and getting to know each other well enough to solve problems together. We are very excited as our Year 8's are growing into a wonderful cohort which cares, trusts and supports each

other in a way which truly honours our ongoing theme of choosing kindness.

Dakotah Pettit-Holmes (9C) and

Evangeline Gumbula (10H) recently

represented Marrara Christian

College and the Northern Districts

Netball Club at the NT Netball

Indigenous Championships in the

U17 Division.

The girls were great ambassadors

for the College. They embraced the

concept of the tournament so well,

and played with great enthusiasm.

Well done, girls!
