3 Minimum Distances Between ProductsYou will be able to know the minimum absolute distances between products (product is
assumed to be any component or part) or in the X, Y and Z direction in different ways:
• Inside one selection: Checks each product in the selection against all other
products in the same selection.
• Between two selections: Checks each product in the first selection against
all products in the second selection.
• Selection against all: Checks each product in the selection defined against
the other products in the document.
You will also be able to calculate and visualise the areas on products corresponding to
the minimum distance with a user defined range.Green
Red
Area in green colour on A corresponds to all points
included in A with a minimum distance with respect to B
within the minimum and maximum user defined range.
Area in red colour on A corresponds to all points included in
A with a minimum distance with respect to B shorter than
the minimum user defined distance.
3.1 Measuring DistancesExample: Measuring minimum distance between two points in two differentselections.

4 SectioningUsing sectioning planes, you will be able to create planar sections (by means of a
plane), slice sections (limited by two planes), box sections (limited within a prism) and
also 3D section cuts on a product in an automated manner.
Sectioning is performed in a dynamic manner just manipulating the sectioning planes.
You will be able to use sections to assess clashes between products or checking
minimum distances and separate visualisation of sections in different windows for
detailed analysis.
4.1 Plane Generation
Select Insert →→→→ Sectioning from the menu bar or click on the Sectioning icon in
the tool bar.
The plane is created parallel to the plane YZ. The centre of the plane is located in the
centre of a sphere enveloping the product defined in selection. Line segments visualised
represent the intersection of the plane with the selected point.
The sectioning plane is limited and has its own local axis system identified as xyz (lower
case). Z Axis is the vector normal to the plane.
Sectioning plane referenced to the YZ plane of absolute axis
XY sectioning plane contained in the local axis system, Z is normal thereto.

5 Clash AnalysisYou can analyse Clash, Contact and Clearance conflicts in documents to assess which
components interfere with others.
Depending on the needs, several levels of analysis are performed, from a simple
detection of interference between parts to a detailed clash, contact or clearance between
products or elements. Results will differ depending on the type of interference selected
for analysis
5.1 Part-To-Part Clash
Select Analyse →→→→ Part to Part Clash in the menu bar and the Clash Detection dialog
box will pop up.
• Clash (Contact + Clash) Detects areas in the parts occupying the same space
and parts in contact.
• Clearance (Clearance + Contact + Clash) Detects areas in the parts
occupying the same space and parts in contact, and parts separated in a
distance shorter than that defined as clearance.
Results will differ based on the option selected for analysis.
Select two parts in the document (CTRL), these will be shown in the dialog box.
Analysis is performed when clicking on Apply. The different results will be shown by
means of foggy lines in different colours.

1. Select Insert →→→→ Clash from the menu bar or click on the Clash icon in the tool
bar. Check Clash dialog box will pop up.
Default interference analysis is Contact + Clash and Between all components.
2. Types of Interference:• Contact + Clash: This checks whether two products occupy the same area in
space and whether two products are contacting (minimum distance is shorter
than tolerance).
• Clearance + Contact + Clash: This checks whether two products are
separated in a distance shorter than the one defined in Clearance in addition
to the above.
• Authorised Penetration: Lets you define a margin within which two products
can occupy the same space zone without generating a clash.
3. If the Clearance + Contact + Clash option is selected, you will have to enter the
desired value as clearance before entering the type of computation.
4. Types of Computation:• Between all components: This checks each product in the document against
all other products. This option may take a lot of computing time.
• Inside one selection: This checks each product in the selection against all
other products in the same selection.Continued…
