President’s Message 2011 has been a landmark year for Southern Methodist University and for Gamma Omega. While SMU celebrated its centennial year, SMU Beta celebrated our 60 year presence on campus. We began the year with our strongest pledge class since our refounding. I believe our 2011 Spring recruitment class was the critical factor that helped facilitate our success. Paired with Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Beta won first in the school wide Sing Song Competition. This summer, Gamma Omega recharted at the 172nd General Convention, receiving unanimous approval by the presidents' committee. We also received the fraternity's top two awards; The Sisson award, given to fraternities with operational excellence, and The Knox Award for unwavering commitment to Beta's values and principals. The Gamma Omega chapter maintained momentum by winning first place in all three Homecoming competitions - Best Float, Best Spirit, and Homecoming King (Seth Ramey). We also placed first of ten fraternities on campus in intramurals for the fall of 2011. As president, I was proud to lead the fraternity in our continued pursuit of prestige at SMU and among all Beta chapters. I, along with my fellow Gamma Omegas , were able to celebrate SMU's admission into the BigEast and our third consecutive bowl game qualification. I look forward to 2012 Spring Rush and believe the chapter will do well. I am proud of the fraternity's success and comforted in the fact that our future leadership is strong. I have enjoyed the school year, the responsibility I was honored with, and my brothers who are the truly the ones to thank for Gamma Omega's numerous accomplishments.
