What is Alternative to Violence Programme A new approach for community groups,
businesses and social service agencies The objectives is to promote non-violence
culture Target for anyone who wants to find ways of
resolving conflict without resorting to violence Based on the Belief in an inborn power for
peace in everyone
History of AVP in Hong Kong
HKFWS committed to promote non-violence culture in Hong Kong, initiated the contact with AVP in Summer 2002
A group of AVP trainers from New Zealand, South Africa was invited to provided training to around 20 social workers of HKFWS
Later on, some social workers from SWD received AVP training
Altogether there are 50 trained facilitators in Hong Kong
We are the 27th country being introduced AVP
The Alternative Approach

The Basic Workshop The Advanced Workshop The Training for Facilitators Workshop Trainees must proceed from Basic Workshop Progression to higher level is voluntary Alumni of Workshop will be setup for each

methods of expression. Cooperation -- Developing cooperative attitudes
that avoid competitive conflicts. Creative Conflict Resolution -- transforming

to respond to real life conflicts in our lives.

The Advantages of IT Support in AVP Portal becomes a means of information exchange between facilit
ators to help preparation for facilitators meeting
Portal becomes a forum of sharing of ideas and wisdom between alumni regarding their experience of conflict resolution
DMS facilitates the collection and dissemination of practice wisdom among facilitators regarding the handling of group sessions, new games, new handling approaches, etc.
DMS also functions as the central library of AVP which keep the most up-dated manual and administrative procedures for the programme
