Alphabet FunHillary Bordeaux
Essential Questions:
• Why do we need to know the alphabet?
• When do we use the alphabet in our everyday life?
Unit Questions:
- Can you tell me what each letter sounds like?- Can you tell me what letter goes with what
word?
What Students Will Accomplish
• Students will master being able to write the alphabet from a-z.
• Students will also be able to associate what words go with certain letters.
• Students will also be able to know the order of the alphabet and know which letters come before others.
TEKS §110.2. English Language Arts and Reading, Kindergarten.
(7) Reading/letter-sound relationships. The student uses letter-sound knowledge to decode written language. The student is expected to: (A) name and identify each letter of the alphabet (K-1); (B) understand that written words are composed of letters that represent sounds (K-1); and (C) learn and apply letter-sound correspondences of a set of consonants and vowels to begin to read (K-1).
