• SEU took its first-ever win in Lubbock last season in a 3-game set March 31-April 1, but LCU took the series by taking the second game of the doubleheader March 31 (4-3) and the single game April 1 (4-2).• Ashley Nassy hit .375 for the series at LCU while Sami Williams and Megan Hoffman had three RBIs apiece.• LCU is 6-3 on the season in 2018 and lost two of three at the 2018 Cactus Classic in Tucsocn, Ariz. over the week-end, including an 8-0 loss to No. 9-ranked Dixie State.• The Lady Chaps’ Morgan Dufour and Lindzi Clemmer are off to hot starts at the plate with six home runs apiece with 13 and 10 RBIs, respectively. SEASON STORY LINES• Through 2/18, SEU ranks 47th nationally and third in the Heartland Conference in fielding percentage (.968)• Kari Rodriguez and Kayla Appleby hit the first home runs of the season for SEU in an 8-4 loss to Tarleton State Feb. 14.• Sara Machado set a career-high in hits (4) in a 4-for-4 performance at the plate in a 5-3 loss to Fort Hays State Feb. 10.• Kari Rodriguez set a career-high in both hits (4) and doubles (2) in a 4-for-4 performance at the plate in an 8-5 loss to ENMU, Feb. 9.• SEU is playing with one senior, Sami Williams, the Hilltoppers return 11 players from last season’s team and added five freshmen and three transfers• The program is nine wins away from its 850th overall victory since beginning softball in 1989.• SEU and Texas A&M-Commerce began the second game of a doubleheader Feb. 7 in Commerce, however, the game was halted due to weather. The game will resume March 14 at Noon, prior to a scheduled doubleheader in Austin.• SEU is coached by second-year head coach Meghan Mullin who carried a 19-33 overall record in her first season and an 11-10 record in Heartland Conference play a year ago.• St. Edward’s University is a member of the Heartland Conference through the 2018-19 season but will merge with the Lone Star Conference in the Fall of 2019 creating the largest NCAA Division II conference at 19 institutions.

MEGHAN MULLIN6th Season at SEU2nd Season as Head CoachAlma Mater: Nebraska, 2010

Meghan Mullin was promoted to head coach of the St. Edward’s softball program prior to the 2017 season after serving as assistant coach for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. In Mullin’s first season at the helm, the Hilltoppers posted a winning 11-10 mark against Heartland Conference opponents and finished at 19-33 overall. Mullin saw Alex Mayfield garner First-Team All-Heartland Conference honors in her first season as head coach while Lauren Slatten, Kayla Appleby and Ashley Nassy all earned second-team honors.

During Mullin’s stint as an assistant coach at SEU, the Hilltoppers compiled a 53-46 record. She also served as the graduate assistant coach in 2011 and 2012. In between her stints at SEU, Mullin spent two years as assistant coach at her alma mater, Seton Catholic Preparatory High School in Chandler, Arizona. She also taught theology and worked as an assistant in the counseling center, and in campus ministry. As a player, Mullin lettered four seasons for the Nebraska Corn-huskers under head coach Rhonda Revelle. She ranks 14th all-time on the Cornhuskers career batting average list at .329 with 176 ca-reer hits. She finished seventh all-time at Nebraska with 54 stolen bases. Her junior year, she was named second-team all-Big 12. In her senior campaign in 2009, Mullin was named the team’s most valuable player and was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. She was named to the All-Big 12 Academic Team each season she was eligible, and she was a team captain her sophomore through senior years. Mullin earned her bachelor degree in history from Nebraska in 2010, with a minor in Religious Studies and Philosophy. She earned a mas-ter’s degree in Liberal Arts from St. Edward’s in 2013.
