Additionally, the symptoms of anintolerance are not immediate, manifesting anywhere from 10minutes to 48 hours after the foodhas been consumed.

What do my results actuallymean? It is quite common for somethingthat has never caused you an issueto start doing so, depending on yourdiet, your habits and yourenvironment. If, for reasons of poor immunesystem levels or poor diet, you havetoo much of one particular elementin your system, your body wil l havetrouble dealing with these increasedlevels. The side effects this imbalancecauses is known as an intolerance. So, you can see that it ’s as much todo with your habits as your biology.

I’ve found out that I’m intolerantto wheat. Does that mean I’mgluten intolerant too? That is a good question and it isone we get asked a lot. The answer, is no. Whilst glutencan be found in wheat, it may notbe the thing you are sensitive to. We test for gluten separately as astandard procedure, so if you havebeen found to be intolerant towheat, but not to gluten, thismeans that you don’t have to cut itout of your diet, as your bodydoesn’t have a issue with it.

I’ve discovered that I am glutenintolerant. Does this indicateCoeliac Disease? A diagnosis of gluten intolerance isin no way an indication of CoeliacDisease, as it is neither an allergynor an intolerance. Those with Coeliac Disease sufferfrom an autoimmune condition thatshould not be confused with glutenintolerance.

What does the term ‘cow’s milk’actually cover? When you have been found to beintolerant to cow’s milk, theproducts you are intolerant toextend further than just plain cow’smilk. It wil l mean that you are alsointolerant to products made fromcow’s milk, l ike cheese, yogurt, butter, cream, ice cream, milkpowder etc. This shouldn’t howeverbe confused with a lactoseintolerance, rather an intoleranceto anything made with cow’s milk.

How does the metals test work? Rather than being an indicator ofhow much of any given metal ispresent in your body, our metalstest is to determine your sensitivityto the metals included on the test. A sensitivity to a particular metalwil l cause a reaction when direct orindirect contact is made, whichdoesn’t necessarily mean that youhave to actually touch it. It couldmean that it ’s a metal that ispresent somewhere in your dailysurroundings and you are exposedto it. Common sources includemachinery operated at work andmetals used in air conditioningsystems.

The foods and substancesindicated on your report wil l needto be removed from your diet andsurroundings as effectively aspossible. It is recommended that you removethese items from your l ife for aminimum of 4 weeks to achieve abase level and whilst weunderstand that eradicating somethings that you might have lovedfor years, you’l l continue to sufferthe effects unless you do. Once the offending items havecleared your system, it is then acase of adding items back into yourdiet slowly, whilst keeping track ofany symptoms you feel as a result. Even though you have physicallymanaged to get them out of yoursystem, you may sti l l be intolerantthem and keeping a food diary isthe safest and most effective wayto achieve this. Keep reading below for astructured guide to help youeliminate foods from your diet.
