Upcoming LTBI Communications Initiatives

Latent Tuberculosis Infection Message Testing Project

Explore participants’ reactions to messages related to testing and treatment of latent TB infection. This project will result in:

– A better understanding of the variances in knowledge, attitudes, and misconceptions around latent TB infection.

– Insights into latent TB infection messages (facts, information, concepts) and terms (language, wording) that are clear, effective, and motivating.

– Knowledge of audience‐trusted health information sources, audience‐seeking healthcare behavior, audience‐preferred communication channels, and audience‐preferred information material formats.

Goals

1. Develop a targeted communications campaign to encourage testing and treatment among at‐risk populations (Asians, Hispanic/Latinos, and their healthcare providers).

2. Develop a partner network to engage at‐risk communities to assist with outreach and other activities to encourage testing and treatment for latent TB infection.

Methods

CDC will develop campaign and the community engagement network in parallel.

Campaign materials will be culturally and linguistically appropriate (developed in‐language).

Use existing initiatives, such as CDC’s Know Hep B Campaign as a model.
