Included : 3 Nights ' accommodation at Namaqua Lodge

Super Luxury bus transport
Meals as indicated

DAY 1: We leave Cape Town and travel through the Bloubergstrand area, past Melkbosstrand, Atlantis, Mamre and
Darling, past Saldanha, which is South Africa’s biggest, deepest and safest harbour. From here we make the short trek to
the Triplet-Towns of Velddrift, Port Owen and Laaiplek. These small West Coast towns are known as the bokkom-
capital of the world, situated at the estuary of the Berg River. Port Owen has a striking resemblance to Venice, with its
streets of water. We continue our route through Dwarskersbos towards the Rocherspan and past Verlorenvlei with its
rich diversity bird species before reaching Eland’s Bay. From here we push through the Sandveld and its historic towns
Leipoldtville and Graafwater. Finally, we reach Clanwilliam from where it’s a short trip to Vanrhynsdorp, our final
destination for the day, where we will spend all of our nights. The Namaqua Lodge in Vanrhynsdorp will be our home
from home for the remainder of the tour.
Includes: Refreshments and dinner. DAY 2: Today is most certainly the highlight of the tour. We start the day early with a trip to the Knersvlakte. Even
though it might look like nothing grows along the plains, on closer inspection we see a magnificent diversity of dwarf
succulents. These tiny plants grow between the white quartz stones and are small enough to miss if you drive in a car
yet extraordinary if you stop to look. Next, we move into the Hardeveld with its signature towns Nuwerus and
Bitterfontein. After we bid farewell to the Hardeveld we move to the Namaqualand Klipkoppe. This beautiful
mountainous region stretches from Garies all the way up to Springbok. On route, we will encounter a ghost town as
well as one of Great Britain’s smallest title deed. Our visit will take us to the tiny mining towns of Nababeep, Concordia
and Okiep, which was once the richest copper ore mining region in the world. And finally, of course, we get to see
Namaqua’s beautiful flowers in full bloom! This promises to be the highlight of the day. If you haven’t been to the
Namaqualand Klipkoppe during flower season you haven’t seen flowers yet.
Included: Breakfast, refreshments and dinner.

where we will drive up the Vanrhyns Pass. This pass promises some of the most awe-inspiring, breath-taking views of
Namaqualand you will ever see. After we reach the summit we head towards Niewoudtville- the bulb capital of the
world. Here we will spend the day experiencing everything this little town has to offer. From the spectacular Quiver
tree forest to the majestic Nieuwoudtville Waterfall, some one-of-a-kind flower species and finally end the day at the
glacier tracks with a small surprise. We will also spend some time at the local Dutch Reformed church. This beautiful
sandstone building has a very interesting tale around its founding. The church is most probably the only church with a
monument erected for debt. This area also promises some of the most beautiful flower scenery with its farm-style
backdrop.
Included: Breakfast, refreshments and dinner.
DAY 4: The final day of our tour takes us through the Olifants River Valley towards Clanwilliam. From here we enter
the Pakhuis-Mountains, so named for the way the rocks looks to be stacked on top of each other. We visit the gravesite
of the legendary C. Louis Leipoldt where we also see some extremely rare flower species. Next, we travel back to
Clanwilliam to visit the Ramskop natural garden on the banks of the Clanwilliam Dam. This garden is incredibly diverse
with approximately 350 flower species. We travel through the valley between the Cederberg and Olifants River
Mountain ranges up to the Piekenierskloof-pass. Once we traverse the pass we enter the ironically named Swartland
with its golden canola fields and green wheat plains. We finally reach Cape Town in what would most undoubtedly be
the most soul satisfying, rejuvenating and inspiring experience.
Included: Breakfast and snacks.

Vredendal and Lutzville. Here we see the northern region of the Olifants River Valley with its first class vineyards and
vegetable plantations. On the way, we drive past Papendorp where the Olifants River stream meets the Atlantic Ocean
tide. Strandfontein, one of the most popular holiday spots along the West Coast, is our next stop. Just south of
Strandfontein we find the picturesque fishermen’s town of Doringbaai. From here we move further south to Lambert’s
Bay, the crayfish capital of South Africa. After our visit, we travel back to Clanwilliam. Here we visit the Ramskop
natural garden on the banks of the Clanwilliam Dam. This garden is incredibly diverse with approximately 350 flower

DAY 5: Our final day follows the N7 all the way over the Piekenierskloofpas. With a beautiful view of the golden canola
fields and green wheat plains, we enter the Swartland. We take a left towards Porterville and drive through Gouda. Our
tour takes us through the Nuwekloof Pass to the historical town of Tulbagh. On 29 September 1969, this town was hit
by a massive earthquake, which damaged large parts of the town’s infrastructure, a rare phenomenon in South Africa.
We inspect Church Street and see the work that has gone into restoring the town to its former glory. Once done, we
make the trip back to Cape Town where this soul-enriching tour comes to an end.

Day 1: We depart from Cape Town directly towards Vanrhynsdorp where we will complete our first hiking trail in the
Knersvlakte. Here we will see some endemic dwarf succulents which are one of the hidden treasures of the Knersvlakte
growing between the white quartz stones.
Lunch and dinner included.
Day 2: Today we visit Gifberg, part of the Matzikama mountain range, which is the northernmost mountains of the
Cederberg mountain range. Gifberg has some truly unique rock formations. The mountain was named after the tree
from which the San people gathered poison for their arrows and spears. The cave paintings give a unique insight into the
lifestyle of these San people that lived here before. These paintings are also some of the oldest in the world today.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 3: Next we explore Niewoudtville, the bulbous plant capital of the world. This area is known for its rich diversity
fauna and flora and has some of the best flower displays you will ever see. Since this tour is during our flower season we
will decide on the day which hiking trail will be the best to get the best view of the flowers.

Day 4: We drive through the Olifantsrivier-valley and turn towards Clanwilliam where we will visit the grave of the late
great C.Louis Leipoldt. The grave is located in the “Pakhuisberge” which, on first glance, looks as if the rocks were
placed next to each by men or machines. Here we will also take a short hike and see why Louis Leipoldt loved the
Cederberg so much. Finally, we will make a final stop in the Piekenierskloofpas and, if time allows us, take a final hiking
route before heading back to Cape Town to round of an unforgettable tour.
Breakfast and lunch included.
TEAMBUILDING HIKING TOURS/PRIVATE TOURS
We organise specialised hiking tours for any group of 4 or more. The hiking routes we take will be dependent on the
general fitness/skills of the group.
We will be able to adapt to any changes in the weather since we will be centrally located in Vanrhynsdorp at the
Namaqua Lodge.

Because we centrally located in Namaqualand we get to cover a huge area with a rich variety of natural wonders on our
routes.

see one of the finest examples of Rock art (Bushman paintings). This is where one’s imagination will take you into
another dimension. Here one can wonder around for several hours without observing the same thing twice. This is an

Why travel with Namaqua tours?
Who is Namaqua Tours and what do we do differently?
We are from Namaqua and know our region well
We are a family business and is in the tour industry since 1985
Our tour guides are the most competent, helpful and friendliest guides that you’ll ever find in Namaqualand.
Each tour member’s personal requirements will be met by our trained personnel.
Namaqua Lodge, where our tour members will stay every night of the tour, is centrally located in the heart of
Namaqualand. From here on we travel in a different direction every day depending on the weather conditions.
We want to see the best flowers on the warmest days.
Our hotel, Namaqua Lodge is well known for its sumptuous meals and this is one of Namaqua tours’ strong
suites.
All our rooms have their own private bathroom and are on ground level.
We stay at one place for the duration of the tour, meaning you only have to unpack and pack in once.
There is no rushed tour program. Our bus driver is also on holiday and not under any pressure. Our program is
not limited to kilometres. We travel to where the best flowers can be seen.
The extra mile we walk
Tour members who prefer to stay over in Cape Town prior to the tour or after can be accommodated. For the
best tariffs, we negotiate with certain hotels for our tour members.
We also assist with flight, train, hotel and transport arrangements. Please contact us for more information.
Private tours and team building tours can also be arranged. Any group of 4 or more can be accommodated for a
tour to our region.
Remember the following when you are coming to see flowers
Other than Namaqualand’s 5 regions (Knersvlakte, Hardeveld, Namakwalandse Klipkoppe, Richtersveld &
Kusvlakte) there are other regions that annually displays some of the best flowers like the Westcoast,
Olifantsriver-valley, Swartland, Bokkeveld, Cederberg and Biedouw-valley.
The flower region is widespread - so be prepared to travel many kilometres.
Every region’s flowers if different from the other. You will never see all the regions’ at its best at the same time,
but from the beginning of August to the middle of September.
Flower season IS a rainy season. When it rains you cannot see flowers.
Namaqualand and the surrounding regions don't all consists of fields of flowers - there are more than 3500
different flower species. The journey is so much more fascinating when you find out more about all the different
flower types and species.
Why do we depart from Cape Town with our flower tours
When we depart from Cape Town, we already enter the flower regions. The Westcoast annually hosts some of the
best flowers and is always worth visiting. If our bus should have departed from Gauteng, it would take us two days to
reach Namaqualand, and we would have to return with the same route. It means that we would mainly travel in one
direction and that we couldn’t sleep at the same place every night to fit the tour program to the weather conditions.
We are in the tour industry since 1985 and are proud to say that we have the recipe for success when it comes to
tours in Namaqualand.
www.facebook.com/namaqualandtours
Our Facebook page speaks for itself. It proves that we show flowers to our tour members and not only drive through
the regions. Visit the above-mentioned address to see what our tour members experience every year. After each tour,
the photos of that tour will be uploaded to Facebook. This is just another free service which Namaqua Tours offer.
Flower viewers come to see flowers - our tour members certainly see flowers!

What happens when Namaqua Tours cancel a tour?
Namaqua Tours undertake not to cancel any tour as far as possible. We never needed to cancel a flower tour.
If ever it should happen that we must cancel a tour, we shall refund your money within 24 hours plus 10%
interest per year.
How do I book a tour at Namaqua Tours?
When you have decided to book one of our tours, complete the application form. Then fax or e-mail it to our
office. You can also do a booking online on our website. We shall then do the rest (hotel and flight bookings if
indicated as such by you). You will receive a tour reference number and the bank particulars of Namaqua Tours.
This reference number must appear on your deposit slip. This tour reference number must also be
indicated on all correspondence with regard to the tour that you booked.
We DO NOT supply bank particulars without a booking form. The only reason for this is that tour members
deposited money in the past without a tour reference number and that they did not do a booking per fax or e-
mail. It has happened that prospective tour members deposited money, but that that specific tour was already
fully booked.
We start every morning with a prayer, and trust in the Lord for a safe and soul enriching tour
It is very important and maybe compulsory to visit as many areas in Namaqualand as possible. Therefore we’re very
blessed to stay in Namaqualand and execute our tours from here, which is why we know exactly where to find the
flowers. We also know what happens in our region and when it rains, what each area looks like, as we are in contact
with people in various areas of Namaqualand.
We ensure that each flower tourist sees only the most beautiful flowers and the best sights of the area and for the best
affordable tour price. It is important that you should bear in mind that it is our rain season, and if you planned to stay in
a different town each night and you have to travel from one specific town to another while it rains, that you will not see
any flowers due to the weather that moves with you. This is why we hold the right to exchange our daily travel plans to
adjust to the weather.
Friendly Floral Greetings:
