All India Australian Rules Football Carnival & Footy Tour 2018 North India and Jaipur, 1 to 9 October 2018 The ‘All India Footy Carnival’ is a celebration of Aussie Rules Footy in India. The carnival uses a participation based model to bring together players from across India, Asia, and Australia, with the aim of building a sense of community around footy in India and creating linkages between India and Australia. People travelling to India with our contingent will have the opportunity to share skills and knowledge through playing, coaching, mentoring and running clinics during the carnival. We strongly encourage non-playing/coaching people to come along – there is a role for everyone. We would love to have more women involved and the fun/safe environment is perfect for parents and teenage kids to share a powerful footy/travel experience. In addition to footy activities you'll get a chance to visit a number of interesting Indian cities in the company of local footy players who will be proud to show you their home town. This is a deep immersion into the India experience with the common language of footy at its core. Proceeds from your visit go towards carnival costs and footy development in India. Your involvement is therefore not only a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit India and participate in an amazing footy carnival but also a chance to support the game's growth amongst economically disadvantaged young men and women. In the afternoon the Aussie contingent will split into two squads and head out to two of our regional locations to spend two days with players who have only recently started playing Aussie Rules. The focus will be on basic skill development and game sense. Some of our more experienced Mumbai players will travel with each squad to coordinate training and logistics. Have your footy ready to jump out while the train stops for a quick kick to kick! Friday 05 Oct Jaipur We currently have approximately 1500 students at 6 different schools playing/learning the game each week. Students are male and female in the 8 to 14 age range – a great age to be introducing the sport and setting them on a lifelong path of footy devotion! There are also a small number of senior players who have been playing for 3 to 4 years. This morning we will visit some of the schools where we are running footy clinics. Players from all over India will be arriving today. The afternoon will be a footy development session with all carnival participants - group training, coaching, skills development and accreditation. This year we are hoping to have over 200 participants at the carnival and this will be a chance to get everyone together for skills development but also some fun ahead of the competitive component of the carnival. Your involvement will be crucial to building their skills and inspiring these young players. Saturday 06 Oct Jaipur Day 1 of the carnival - group matches. You are welcome to be as involved as you wish – running water, scoring, team preparation, or your involvement might extend to playing, coaching/assistant coaching and umpiring.
