Aligned with the economy o Heaven by Matt Bomho is

more than a orty day journal—rather it is an invitationrom heaven to go on a orty day journey to become “rich”

in God in every way. Through daily devotionals, nuggets o

both biblical revelation as well as practical lie skills, pro-

phetic declarations, journaling and daily exhortations, this

book is an equipping tool to walk in kingdom principles.

Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing o the Lord makes one

rich and He adds no sorrow.” This book will help “make

you rich,” by aligning your own lie with the economy o

heaven, so you can see God’s kingdom come on earth as the

Father dreamed it in heaven.

INTRODUCTION

May the grace o the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love o God, and

the ellowship o the Holy Spirit be with you all.

 – 2 Corinthians 13:14 (NIV)

Grace is an unmerited, undeserved git rom above. We can-not earn it. It is a shower o heavenly infuence on our hearts

that transorms us at the core, bringing dynamic change to the

way we live our lives. This cloud o glory empowers us to walk

more like Christ than ever beore, producing an abundance o

ruit borne rom our lives or His glory. It increases the sound o

thanksgiving on the earth, making known to the principalities

and powers the maniold, multi-colored wisdom o God.

I believe that there is a spirit o grace on this book to dramati-

cally impact your lie or the Kingdom o God. I believe that

there is abundant grace to:

• Discover truth and revelation rom God’s Word, transorm-

ing you at the core until you are living rom a pure heart,

rom a good conscience and rom sincere aith.

• Understand that giving is worship and begin giving great

glory to God through radical generosity.

• Remove joyless, religious acts o compulsive, earul giving

rom your lie and transorm you into a cheerul, openhand-

ed giver, ull o great reedom, aith, peace and joy.• Believe by aith that He is aithul to provide all o your

needs, removing the ear that you won’t have enough and the

sinul desire to hoard and stash your money and possessions.

• Be a champion giver, radically generous like your Father.

• Wisely manage your nances, budget your income and pri-

oritize your spending, being aithul to Paul’s command in

1 Corinthians16:2-3 that we set aside a generous sum o money or the church on the rst day o the week, in keep-

ing with our income.

• Be lled with integrity in business and nancial dealings

– removing sel-centeredness, covetousness and greed, and

replacing it with the ability to consider the needs o others

and desire that they prosper, make a prot, and be blessed.

• Attain diligence and discipline in your vocation, empower-

ing you to aithul, honest work as unto the Lord, richly

blessing and beneting your employees and your employers.

• Attain abundant wisdom in your investments, and the abil-

ity to be a wise steward, aithul to increase and multiply

what has been entrusted to you.

• Understand His compassion and heart or the downcast,

seeing through His eyes and considering the poor.

• Take action and war over the ollowing prophetic declara-

tions over you, co-laboring with Him to bear ruit and be

the conduit o His generosity everywhere you go!

• Shout “Grace! Grace!” to your mountain, whatever your

circumstances; watch the Lord show Himsel strong on

your behal, His abundant mercy removing it rom your

midst, paving the way or the abundant lie Christ died to

give you!

“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord o hosts. “Who are you, O great mountain? Beore [us] you shall be-

come a plain! And [we] shall bring orth the capstone with shouts

o ‘Grace, grace to it!’ ” – Zechariah 4:6-7

Forty Days

Then Jesus, being lled with the Holy Spirit, returned rom the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted or orty days by the devil … Then Jesus returned in the power o the Spirit to Galilee, and news o Him went out through all the sur-

rounding region. –Luke 4:1-2,14

Forty is a signicant number in the Bible. It is a number thatdenotes signicant times o testing or God’s people. Noah and

his amily held ast in the ark as the skies poured rain orty days

and orty nights (Genesis 7:4). Moses asted rom ood and wa-

ter as He remained with the Lord on Mount Sinai or orty days

(Exodus 34:28). The Israelites wandered through the wilderness

or orty years o testing (Deuteronomy 8:2). Elijah journeyed

toward Horeb, the mountain o God, without ood or wateror orty days and orty nights (1 Kings 19:8). Finally, our Lord

Jesus was tested in the desert or orty days beore returning in

the power o the Spirit (Luke 4:2).

It’s interesting to note that in each o these orty-day tests,

aithul completion unlocked incredible breakthrough and pro-

motion in the lives o those being tested! I believe that this isGod’s plan or us! As we journey through this 40-day devotion-

al together, our unwavering aith locks into a collision course

with the creative power o God. Our aithul obedience to each

command rom the Word o God sets into motion alignment

with heaven and the will o God. We increase in avor with God

and with men and experience new levels o breakthrough in our

lives! Let’s be aithul to pass this 40-day test with diligence andthanksgiving. God is aithul to meet us each day and help us

align our lives and nances ... on earth as it is in heaven!

Thank You, Father, or the truths about nances in Your Word!

I declare that all the promises in Your Word are true, are “yesand amen,” and will not return void, but will accomplish what

I hear Your voice, I commit to be quick to obey. I declare my

God of the Breakthrough Enlarge your house; build an addition. Spread out your home, and spare no expense! For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Yourdescendants will occupy other nations and resettle the ruined cities.

 – Isaiah 54:2-3 (NLT)

The Hebrew word or “expand” in this verse is  pawrats. It is

the word or breakthrough. It means to break out, burst orth, come broadly, spread out, and increase. These verses in Isaiah

prophesied o Jerusalem’s restoration during a time when they elt

orsaken and orgotten. God’s people oten eel this way just mo-

ments beore victory. When the Philistines heard that David had

been anointed as King over all o Israel, the Bible says all o the

Philistines went out against him (1 Chronicles 14). However, Da-

vid stood on the Word o the Lord and went up to Baal-perazim.The Lord broke through or them against their enemies and Da-

vid won a great victory. The name Baal-perazim means “the God

o the Breakthrough.” David experienced God as the One who

breaks through and exclaimed, “God has broken through my en-

emies by my hand like a breakthrough o water.” God brought

the breakthrough through the leadership and valor o David.

Sometimes we nd ourselves in a hard place. The circumstanc-

es in our lie seem less than victorious. The enemy lies to us, tell-

ing us we have been orgotten and orsaken, and that everyone is

against us. But God has not orgotten us. In act, we are inscribed

on the palm o His hand (Isaiah 49:16). Oten our breakthrough

is just moments away! Today, whatever your battle o provision,

God is seeking to bring breakthrough in your lie. Just like Davidat Baal-perazim, God wants to work through the power and abil-

ity He has placed inside you through the Holy Spirit and bring

restoration, breakthrough, and victory in every area o your lie!

Get ready to experience the breakthrough power o God!

Declaration of Dependence

(For I am) condent o this very thing, that He who begana good work in you will perect it until the day o Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6 (NASB)

We hear the word “destiny” a lot in our culture today. It is a

great word that speaks o the high and holy calling each one o us

received when we bowed our knee to the Lordship o Christ. Theword “work” in Philippians 1:6 is the Greek word ergon, which

can speak o something crated and produced by the working o

hands, such as a sculpture or piece o art. In Ephesians 2:10, Paul

says that we are God’s workmanship. This Greek word is  poi-

ema, which is where we get the English word “poem.” Poiema

speaks o a masterpiece such as a sonnet with perect rhyme or a

beautiul symphony, glorious in its unity, harmony, and timing.Paul is talking about us! Each one o us is a unique masterpiece

that God has orged with His own hands (Psalm 139) – created

to carry a unique DNA that contains the ability to ll a role in

the body o Christ that no one else can ulll.

Jesus taught that it is only as we stay connected to Him with

the lieline o intimacy and devotion that we will ulll the pur-pose we were created or. Apart rom Him we can do nothing

(John 15:5). Just like a vine provides all the nutrients that a

branch needs to thrive and prosper, the Lord is aithul to pro-

vide everything we need to accomplish what He has created us

to do. His resources are unlimited. He owns all the cattle on all

the hills. Let’s remember this truth as we go through this 40-day

study. Let’s submit to His leadership and repent o any spirit o independence right now. We can be condent that as we walk in

obedience to Him, He is aithul to complete the good work He

has begun in us, and He shall supply all o our needs according

to His riches in glory! (Philippians 4:19)

Set Apart

Be silent beore the Sovereign Lord, or the day o the Lord is near. The Lord has prepared a sacrice; he has consecrated those he has

invited. – Zephaniah 1:7 (NIV)

The word or “consecrated” in this passage is the Hebrew

word Qadash, which means to be set apart, prepared and dedi-

cated – outside the norm. It is used to describe a person whodevotes himsel wholly to God and His purposes. In the New

Testament, we are taught that everyone who receives Jesus as

Lord and Savior o their lives must die to their desires o living

or themselves and arise to their new lie o joyul, abundant

service to the King (2 Corinthians 5:17). This is why the Lord

instituted water baptism. It is a prophetic act that demonstrates

the death and burial o our old, sel-serving nature and the res-urrection and birth o our new, Christ-serving nature. The old

has gone, behold the new has come! (Galatians 2:20) The Lord

suered and died as our sacrice so that we could be set apart

to oer our lives as living sacrices or Him (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Let’s devote ourselves today to living wholly to God and His

purposes. As we ully consecrate our lives to serving Him, He isaithul to provide everything we need to run our race with en-

durance and victory. Our hearts are transormed, and we come

to joyully embrace the truth that our lives belong to Him. Ev-

erything we are and possess is set apart or His glory and pur-

poses, and we are given access to the mysteries o His Kingdom

(Matthew 13:11). What a privilege it is to be set apart or His

glory!

Bondservants of the King

Thereore you also be ready, or the Son o Man is coming at an

hour you do not expect. “Who then is a aithul and wise servant,

whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them ood

in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he

comes, will nd so doing. – Matthew 24:44-46

The word “servant” in this passage is the Greek word dulos,or “bondservant.” In ancient times, a bondservant was a slave

who chose by his own ree will to surrender all personal interests

in order to serve his master or lie (Deuteronomy 15:16-17). In

exchange or this vow, the master promised to provide or all the

needs o his servant. Paul and James both described themselves

as bondservants o Christ, oering their very lives to preach the

Gospel and advance the Kingdom (Titus 1:1, James 1:1). Jesus

was the perect bondservant. His only desire was to build His

Father’s house. He set His ace like fint to serve the mission o

His Father, orsaking all temptations to build His own earthly

Kingdom. In John 5:30, Jesus said, “I do not seek My own will

but the will o the Father who sent Me.” His prayer in the garden

was, “Father … not my will, but Yours, be done” (Luke 22:42).There are temptations to build kingdoms o ame, ortune and

power on this earth. But our destiny is to give our lives passion-

ately to the Kingdom o God – a Kingdom that can’t be shaken!

His Kingdom is without end and is ever-increasing (Isaiah 9:7).

Likewise, when we direct our passion toward Him, the avor and

grace extended to us is without end and ever-increasing! Let’s

settle this issue in our hearts once and or all. Let’s answer the call

to be bondservants o the Lord, boldly oering our time, talents

and treasures to Him. As we do, we discover the joy and reedom

o living in the Kingdom – a lie o purpose, passion and power!

 A Humble Heart

So I was let alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength let,my ace turned deathly pale and I was helpless. Then I heard himspeaking, and as I listened to him, I ell into a deep sleep, my ace tothe ground. A hand touched me and set me trembling on my handsand knees. He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, considercareully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, or I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood

up trembling. Then he continued, “Do not be araid, Daniel. Sincethe rst day that you set your mind to gain understanding and tohumble yoursel beore your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. – Daniel 10:8-12 (NIV)

The phrase “humble yoursel” in this passage is the Hebrew

words anah paniym, which carries the meaning o setting your

mind to do a work. In biblical times it oten spoke o tillingthe ground and making the earth ready. When we choose to

humble ourselves beore God and lay down our agendas or

His Kingdom purposes, our hearts are made ready or harvest.

The weeds o pride, ear and laziness are pulled out by the root

to dry up and blow away like cha. The soil o our hearts be-

comes ertile ground or the glorious seeds o our calling. It

is made ready to receive the abundant sunshine o His grace

and nourishing rain o His power, springing orth provision and

destiny in our lives.

Like Daniel, many o us have seasons when we eel

helpless, with no strength to go on. But i we ollow his

lead, humbling ourselves and seeking God’s ace in prayer,

He is aithul to hear us and respond in love. Let’s hum-ble ourselves and set our minds to do His work. Let’s o-

er our time, talent and treasures or the Kingdom o God.

As we do, we will nd understanding, purpose, destiny, and grace

like we’ve never known beore.

 A Thankful, Willing Heart

Then Hezekiah said, “You have now consecrated yourselves to theLord. Come near; bring sacrices and thank oerings to the houseo the Lord.” And the assembly brought sacrices and thank oer-ings, and all who were o a willing heart brought burnt oerings.

 – 2 Chronicles 29:31 (RSV)

In this chapter in 2 Chronicles, King Hezekiah re-opened thedoors o the house o the Lord and repaired them, restoring

temple worship to Israel. The people o God consecrated – set

themselves apart – to the Lord. They entered into worship and

brought their thank oerings to Him, singing praises and play-

ing instruments (loudly) with a willing heart. The Hebrew word

or “willing” is nadiyb. It means voluntary, willing, spontane-

ous, ready and generous. These eager givers were ree rom ear, greed, stinginess or selshness. The thanksgiving in their hearts

to the Lord moved them to reely give, spontaneously and with

great joy.

This is the kind o heart the Lord is looking or, and this is

who we were born to be. When we were born again into the

Kingdom o God, we were given new, generous, and willing

hearts (Ezekiel 36:26), eager to partner with Him to see His

Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. However, it is up to

us to make the decision to oer our hearts willingly to the Lord

as an act o worship, allowing Him to transorm our walk into a

liestyle o generosity. Let’s oer our hearts to the Lord with sin-

cere aith. Let’s bond together in unity, joyully bring our tithes

and oerings to Him with thankul hearts! As we do, we stepinto our destiny as voluntary worshippers, eager and willing to

give our hearts completely to Him.

Seeking His Kingdom First

“Thereore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For ater all these things theGentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek rst the kingdom o God and His righteous-ness, and all these things shall be added to you. – Matthew 6:31-33

Jesus desires that we enjoy all the benets o living in HisKingdom. It is or this reason that He instructs us to seek His

Kingdom and His righteousness rst. The word “seek” in this

verse is the Greek word zeteo. It is a word o action, describ-

ing someone in relentless pursuit, reusing to be distracted by

anything that would hinder him rom his goal. It is a passionate

striving with every ounce o energy we have. Paul used the same

word when he admonished the Colossian believers to seek thosethings which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand

o God (Colossians 3:1).

In the western church, this type o living might be described

as someone who is “on re” or God. According to Jesus in

Revelation 2, however, an “on re” disciple is the only kind o

disciple that He wants in His Kingdom. In act, He would preerthat we not ollow Him at all i we are not going to do it with

all o our heart. Lukewarmness leaves such a bad taste in His

mouth that He says He will spit this type o ollower out. This is

our high calling as those who have been raised with Christ. Fer-

vently seeking the Kingdom involves not only passionate wor-

ship o the King – it also includes a single-minded ervency to

know the principles o His Kingdom and set our aces like fintto walk in them. Let’s set our hearts and minds to ollow Him

with all o our heart. When we do, He is aithul to provide ev-

erything we need to live in victory and ruitulness.

He is a Rewarder

But without aith it is impossible to please Him, or he who comes

to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder o those

who diligently seek Him. – Hebrews 11:6

The Greek word or “rewarder” in this passage is mist-

hapodotes, and it is the only time this word is used in the entire

Bible. It is the compound o two words. The rst is a commonword that means “to hire or pay wages that are due.” The sec-

ond word means “to pay or reward extravagantly – over and

above what is normally due.” When you put the two words

together you get the description o an outrageously generous

Father who loves to lavish His children with good gits that ar

exceed what is expected. When the writer to the Hebrews wrote

this verse he was not just describing what our heavenly Father

does, but who He is! This is His very nature! He is a rewarder o

those who diligently seek His ace, His will, and His Kingdom

rst. He is a rewarder o those who receive His promises by aith

and move in obedience to His Word and His voice.

Let’s take heed to this powerul verse and diligently seek the

ace o our loving Father. Let’s walk in His ways with heartslled with aith, condent that the God we serve is a kind and

extravagantly generous Father who doesn’t give us our due, but

loves to lavish on His children. As we do, we can expect to re-

ceive everything we need – exceedingly, abundantly more than

anything we can ask or even imagine! No good thing will He

withhold rom those who walk uprightly! (Psalm 84:11).

Generous, Like Our Father

One man gives reely, yet gains even more; another withholds undu-ly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who re-reshes others will himsel be rereshed. – Proverbs 11:24-25 (NIV)

The Hebrew word or “generous” in this passage is berakah,

which describes someone who is a source o blessing. It com-

pares such a person to a git or present, a peace treaty, and apraise oered to God. The Scriptures are lled with exhorta-

tions to be generous givers. One o the reasons or this is that

our Father is exceedingly generous. The Bible teaches us that

every good and perect git comes rom our Father above (James

1:17). God is not just generous … He is generosity! We were

created in the image o our Father and are being conormed into

the image o Christ (Romans 8:29).

When we choose to give generously we walk in our destiny

to be just like our Father and His Son. Blessings will always fow

back to us because, no matter how generous we become, we

can never outgive Him who by His very nature is extravagant

generosity. Let’s encourage one another to be like our Lord and

generously give o our resources. Let’s commit to becoming asource o blessing to the Kingdom o God and others. As we do,

our nances are multiplied back to us – good measure, pressed

down, shaken together and running over (Luke 6:38).

First Things First

Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the rstruits o all

your increase; so your barns will be lled with plenty, and your vats

will overfow with new wine. – Proverbs 3:9-10

The word or “rstruits” in this verse is the Hebrew word

re’shiyth. It means the best, the chie, the rst or most choice

part. Throughout the Bible we are taught that God desires that

we bring our rst and our best back to Him. When we do this,

He is gracious and kind to bless and multiply what we have giv-

en. This is not a cause and eect “ormula” or our prosperity,

but rather God’s law o “sowing and reaping” in His Kingdom.

It is about our heart or His Kingdom, not our own. Jesus

illustrated this principle when He taught us to seek rst theKingdom o God and His righteousness, and then trust Him to

provide everything we need (Matthew 6:33). The Macedonians

lived with this heart attitude and became the early church model

or extravagant, sacricial giving. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians

8:5 that they rst gave themselves to the Lord, beore anything

else, by the will o God. Let’s be like the Macedonians and give

our rst and best back to the Lord. When we bring Him our bestwith hearts o aith and gratitude, He is aithul to take care o

Open the Windows of Heaven

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be ood in My

house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord o hosts, “I I will not

open or you the windows o heaven and pour out or you such bless-

ing that there will not be room enough to receive it. – Malachi 3:10

This verse is one o the boldest passages o Scripture in the Bible

and the only time that God challenges His people to test Him. Fol-lowing their return rom exile, the Israelites had quickly orgotten

God’s aithulness and were living immoral and selsh lives. They

were ullling only the mere requirements o the law by giving

their unhealthy, crippled animals to God. They wanted to be seen

giving their sacrices, but God saw their heart and knew that their

oerings were not what they claimed them to be. Others may

have been impressed with their show o generosity, but God sawdeeper into their hearts. He knew they did not really love Him, or

i they did, they would have given Him their absolute best.

But the Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger,

and abounding in love (Psalm 103:8). Instead o pouring out

His wrath or their sinul behavior, He oered them grace and

abundant blessing i they would just believe, repent, and obey

by aith. He oered to open the windows o heaven or them

and pour out so much abundance they wouldn’t have enough

room to accommodate it. The word or “windows” in this verse

is ‘arubbah, the same word used to describe the foodgates o

heaven in other passages o Scripture. When we bond together

in unity and aithully bring our tithes to the Lord, it is His

great pleasure to open up the windows and gates o heaven’sstorehouse and food our lives with such abundance that every-

one around us is blessed as well. Let’s encourage one another to

bring our tithes to the storehouse. When we do, God is aithul

to pour out provision or us and or others in need.

The Tithe is a Tutor

But how terrible it will be or you Pharisees! For you are careul to

tithe even the tiniest part o your income, but you completely orget

about justice and the love o God. You should tithe, yes, but you

should not leave undone the more important things.

 – Luke 11:42 (NLT)

In this passage, Jesus exposed the hypocrisy o the religiousleaders o His day, who painstakingly carried out every detail

o law and religious duty but had no relationship with the living

God. Jesus instructed the Pharisees to continue tithing rom their

income, but to also learn what really moves the Father’s heart.

Throughout Scripture, a tithe or tenth o income is the suitable

portion to be set apart and given back to God. In act, Abraham

tithed to Melchizedek (a type o Christ) over 400 years beoreMoses instituted the Law.

As New Testament believers, we have a great advantage. The

Cross has removed the veil and made a way or us to have an in-

timate relationship with the Lord. Now, instead o living strictly

by laws and regulations, we can hear directly rom Him and ol-

low His voice in obedience. Paul taught the Galatians that the

Law was a tutor to bring us to this intimate relationship (Ga-

latians 3:24-25). Similarly, tithing is a tutor and starting point

or believers until we are condent that we hear His voice and

understand His heart and desire that we be generous conduits o

His resources. As we grow in relationship with Him, just giving

a tithe becomes less and less desirable. As we commune with the

One who is generosity, our own generosity will soon ar exceedwhat is “suitable.” Take time today to invest in your relation-

ship with Him. As you do, be condent that you are being trans-

ormed into His image and are refecting more o His glory every

day (2 Corinthians 3:18).

wonderul things that happen in a culture o generous giving.

In this passage, Paul describes the nancial gits given by the

This word is taken rom the word koinonia, which expresses

the idea o anything that is shared in common. But when the

word koinonia becomes the word koinonikos, as it is in thisverse, it pictures a person who is a “champion” at sharing what

he owns. Thereore, when Paul exhorts the church to be “will-

ing to share,” he is teaching them how to be eager to not only

do their part to advance the Gospel, but to excel and go beyond

the norm, boldly taking hold o the abundant lie God has or

them.

This is who we were born to be! We were created to be gen-

erous, champion givers eager to give sacricially in order to ac-

complish God’s purposes on earth. Let’s continue to be willing

to share. Together we can advance the Kingdom and take hold

o the abundant lie promised to us.

Hilarious Giving

“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or

o necessity; or God loves a cheerul giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7

The Greek word or “cheerul” in this passage is hilaros,

which describes such a spirit o utter enjoyment in giving that

all restraints and hesitancy are swept away. This is where we

get the English word “hilarious.” It’s interesting to note that theGreek word or “grudgingly” is the exact opposite o hilarious.

It speaks o sorrow, pain, grie, annoyance, and afiction. I we

eel this way when bringing our tithes and oerings, there is a

good chance we have been listening to the voice o a stranger.

The enemy wants to steal, kill, and destroy the joy that comes

rom aithul and aith-lled giving (John 10:10). Giving under

compulsion is when we eel pressured, manipulated or controlledinto giving in a way that is not in agreement with the Word o

God or in the Spirit o God.

Where the Spirit o the Lord is, there is reedom. Our giving

should always be in a spirit o reedom and joyul obedience to

the Lord. We don’t have to listen to the lies o the enemy! When

we joyully and generously give out o a ready, willing heart westrike against the enemy, who wants us to be stingy, greedy, and

ull o ear. Jesus came to give us abundant lie that includes ex-

ceedingly great joy! When we obey His command to give with

a cheerul heart, we strike a damaging blow against the enemy’s

plan to steal our joy. In the process, we pave the way or King-

dom advancement in our lives, our communities and beyond!

Let’s be cheerul givers. Let’s crush the enemy and celebrate joy-ully as we nance the spread o the good news o God’s love

throughout the world.

 A Holy Habit

Now about the collection or God’s people: Do what I told the

Galatian churches to do. On the rst day o every week, each one

o you should set aside a sum o money in keeping with his income,

saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be

made. – 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 (NIV)

In this passage, Paul exhorts the Corinthians to set aside moneywhen they meet on the rst day o each week according to how

much they were nancially blessed that week. The phrase trans-

lated “set aside” contains the Greek word tithemi, where we

get the English word “tithe.” This word carries the meaning to

lay down, set aside, x, set orth, establish or ordain. When we

make a plan to sacricially lay aside unds in order to regularly

and consistently give to the Kingdom, it sets orth, establishes, and ordains a pattern and “holy habit” o obedience that will

stay with us the rest o our lives, blessing us and impacting the

Kingdom o God. This is a basic and ordinary command or us

to obey in the body o Christ. However, statistics show that less

than 20 percent o Christians in America tithe.

In heaven’s economy, we are to set aside money to pay our

tithes and oerings the same way we set aside money or rent,

electric bills, and groceries. In act, our tithe should be the rst

amount we set aside (Proverbs 3:9). I your current budget hasn’t

allowed or a tithe, it is time to change your mindset and change

your budget. Tithing is the rst step in getting aligned with the

economy o heaven. Let’s do whatever it takes to begin walking

in this holy habit! Sell a liability, cancel your cable television, oreliminate a night out. Get creative and do whatever it takes to

align your nances with the economy o heaven. When you do,

God will reward you or your sacrice and the blessings o the

Lord will overtake you.

Consistent Generosity

Be kindly aectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preerence to one another; not lagging in diligence, ervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadastly in prayer; distributing to the needs o the

saints, given to hospitality. – Romans 12:10-13

The word “distributing” in this verse is the Greek word

koi-noneo, which means “to share or to give some kind o contribu-

tion.” In the context here, koinoneo means “to give a nancial

contribution.” However, the Greek tense suggests that this is

not an occasional act but rather a regular, consistent, habitual

contributing o nances or the needs o the saints. The NLT

translates “not lacking in diligence” as “never be lazy in your

work but serve the Lord enthusiastically.” The KJV translatesthis phrase, “not slothul in business.” In others words, working

hard to make an income and regularly and habitually contribut-

ing to the needs o the church and the saints is normal, everyday

Christian work and Kingdom business or believers.

When we choose to make our generosity toward the needs

o others an occasional event rather than a consistent practice,

we are lagging in diligence and disobedient to God. But this is

not who we are. We are ully devoted ollowers o the Lord who

desire to obey Him and abound in everything. It is our mandate

to ollow Paul’s command to imitate him and abound in aith, in

speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in love or the saints

and generosity toward them (1 Corinthians 8:7). Let’s be diligent

to oer regular, consistent, and habitual contributions to thework o the Kingdom. As we do, He is aithul to multiply our

gits and provide or the needs o saints in every nation, every

tribe and every tongue.

Radical Multiplication

And the children o Israel and Judah, who dwelt in the cities o  Judah, brought the tithe o oxen and sheep; also the tithe o holythings which were consecrated to the Lord their God they laid inheaps. In the third month they began laying them in heaps, and they nished in the seventh month. And when Hezekiah and theleaders came and saw the heaps, they blessed the Lord and His people Israel. Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites

concerning the heaps. And Azariah the chie priest, rom the houseo Zadok, answered him and said, “Since the people began to bring the oerings into the house o the Lord, we have had enough to eat and have plenty let, or the Lord has blessed His people; and what is let is this great abundance.” –2 Chronicles 31:6-10

Hezekiah was one o the most noble and righteous kings o Is-

rael. Ater succeeding his ather Ahaz, he immediately began mak-

ing reorms to return Israel to the Lord. He cleansed the temple, re-

established worship, and reinstated the Passover east at Jerusalem.

When he decreed that the children o Israel contribute or the work

o the Lord, the Bible tells us “they brought in abundantly the tithe

o everything” (v.5). The result o their generosity is one o the great

examples o the “cycle o blessing” in the Bible. When the Israel-ites gave sacricially, God abundantly blessed them. The more God

blessed them, the more their tithes and oerings grew. This pattern

continued until the people were giving so much that a stunned He-

zekiah asked the priests why there were such large “heaps” in the

house o the Lord! The answer, o course, was that the people had

given with generous, willing hearts, and an exceedingly generous

Father would not be outdone! Radical multiplication had occurredagain and again until everyone in Israel was blessed with great abun-

dance. This is our high calling! As we aithully bring our tithes and

sacricially give our oerings, we set into motion the generous hand

o our Father to nance His purposes throughout the earth.

Multiplication and Increase

Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the ve loaves and the two sh, and looking up to heaven,He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the

disciples gave to the multitudes. – Matthew 14:19

The eeding o the 5,000 is one o the most cherished stories in

the Bible. However, it is more than a story – it is a demonstra-tion o Kingdom multiplication. It’s interesting to note that the

loaves and sh did not multiply when Jesus prayed over them. In

act, they did not multiply in the Lord’s hands at all. According

to this verse and the parallel passage in Luke 9, Jesus blessed and

broke the ood and gave it back to the disciples to set beore the

multitude. The miracle did not happen in the Master’s hands; it

happened in the disciples’ hands as they generously distributedwhat the Lord had blessed and returned to them!

This is a Kingdom principle and a cycle o blessing that is

still in operation today. As we bring our rst portion to the Lord,

He is aithul to bless our oering and return it back to us (Luke

6:38). As we aithully distribute what He has entrusted to us to

serve His purposes on the earth, Kingdom multiplication is setin motion. The Bible tells us that the Lord not only multiplies

the seed we sow, but also increases the ruit that our giving bears

(2 Corinthians 9:10). Let’s be good stewards o what the Lord

has entrusted to us, and be generous givers. As we are, we co-

labor with God to bring multiplication and reach the multitudes

with the transorming presence and power o God.

Our Heavenly Account

Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning o the gospel, when I departed rom Macedonia, no church shared with me concern-ing giving and receiving but you only. For even in Thessalonica yousent aid once and again or my necessities. Not that I seek the git, but I seek the ruit that abounds to your account. – Philippians 4:15-17

Paul understood that what we do on this earth radically impactsour reward in heaven. According to this passage, every git we

give or His glory is a deposit that goes into our heavenly account.

The Greek word or “ruit” used here is karpos, which speaks

o successul reaping o something that was sown. It is the prot

received and stored away ater a successul harvest. When we give

generously in response to someone’s need, we not only reap abun-

dantly in our accounts here on earth, but we also gain major divi-dends in our heavenly account! Talk about a good investment!

Now, obviously this portion o Scripture isn’t talking about

our salvation. Jesus alone was worthy to pay the price or our

sin, and He did it perectly on the cross. We receive the git o sal-

vation by aith, not works (Ephesians 2:8-9).There is nothing we

can do on our own merit to save ourselves. However, the way we

choose to live our lives ater receiving salvation is another story.

In 1 Corinthians 3:10-15, Paul compares our lives as Christians

to a building. Jesus laid the oundation or our lives by grace. A-

ter we receive Him by aith, it is up to us how we choose to build

on this oundation. Our work will be tested by re, and only

those things that bear ruit or Him, out o abiding in Him, will

remain. So, is it wrong to be motivated by reward? Not accordingto Scripture. I it were wrong, the Lord wouldn’t oer it to us as

a motivation. Reward is His idea, not ours. So, let’s continue to

give generously or His glory, making deposits o love that bless

our lives in this lie and the one to come.

Seedtime and Harvest

Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread or ood, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the ruitso your righteousness. –2 Corinthians 9:10

During biblical times, almost everyone was involved with agri-

culture to some extent. Only the very rich were able to live with-

out personally tending the soil or keeping focks. This is why theBible contains so many agricultural analogies to teach us about

nances in the Kingdom o God. Ancient peoples understood

hard work and diligence, seedtime and harvest, sowing and reap-

ing. Likewise, God desires that we understand how to sow seeds,

and more. He wants us to expect a harvest rom our sowing like

any good armer would! It is what we do with the increase o

that harvest that ultimately determines the uture o our “arm.”I we consume all the increase, we are let without seed and, sub-

sequently, no uture harvest. I we manage our resources accord-

ing to God’s Word, we enjoy continual provision.

According to the Word, the rst ten percent o our income

is always seed to be brought to the “storehouse” or local el-

lowship (Proverbs 3:9; Malachi 3:10). Just as tithes were used to

support the temple and priesthood in the Old Covenant, in the

New Covenant they are necessary to provide or those working

to spread the gospel. The Bible teaches that the Lord has ordained

that those who preach the gospel should live rom the gospel (1

Corinthians 9:14), and those who are taught the Word should

share in all good things with him who teaches (Galatians 6:6).

Simple! The other 90% o our income needs to be budgeted so

that our needs are cared or and there is extra to help others in

need. Let’s manage our nances God’s way. As we do, we become

like wise armers, with seed to sow, bread to eat, and continual,

abundant provision or every good work.

Living in Full Bloom

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudginglyor o necessity; or God loves a cheerul giver. And God is able tomake all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all su-ciency in all things, may have an abundance or every good work.

 – 2 Corinthians 9:7-8

The Greek word or “abound” in this verse is perisseu, whichmeans “to urnish one richly with abundance.” It paints the pic-

ture o a bud bursting orth into a vibrant fower in ull bloom.

When applied to this verse, it provides a glorious illustration.

When we generously and cheerully sow seeds into the King-

The Cycle of Blessing

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread or ood will alsosupply and increase your store o seed and will enlarge the harvest o your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that youcan be generous on every occasion, and through us your generositywill result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perorm isnot only supplying the needs o God’s people but is also overfowing in many expressions o thanks to God. – 2 Corinthians 9:10-12 (NIV)

This passage is an awesome illustration o the “cycle o bless-

ing” available to us in the Kingdom o God. The Lord generously

gives to us so that we can generously give to others. The Greek

word or supply in this passage o Scripture is choregeo, which

paints the picture o the leader o a chorus who generously and

abundantly supplies everything the chorus needs at his own ex-pense. As members o God’s “chorus,” we are then called to be

willing conduits o His abundant supply, aithully and gener-

ously using the gits we have been given to bless others. As we

provide or the needs o others, especially the poor, urther bless-

ings and promises are poured out. Psalm 41:1-3 reads:

Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliverhim in time o trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep

him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not

deliver him to the will o his enemies. The Lord will strength-

en him on his bed o illness; You will sustain him on his sick-

bed.

Let’s be the generous people God has created us to be. Let’s bemindul o the needs o others and consider the poor. As we per-

orm this service o love, He is aithul to supply all our needs and

usher in a spirit o worship that fows back to Him in thanksgiving.

Joyful Provision

Then Abraham lited his eyes and looked, and there behind him wasa ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and tookthe ram, and oered it up or a burnt oering instead o his son.And Abraham called the name o the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide;as it is said to this day, “In the Mount o the Lord it shall be pro-vided.” – Genesis 22:13-14

God promised Abraham that he would be the “ather o many

nations,” and miraculously provided a son named Isaac (Genesis

21:1-3). When God commanded Abraham to go to a mountain

in Moriah and oer Isaac as a sacrice, He aithully provided an

acceptable substitute to take his place. As a memorial to God’s

aithulness, Abraham called the mountain “The-Lord-Will-

Provide.” In Hebrew, this phrase is YHWH Yireh (or Jehovah Jireh), which carries the idea that God will provide or what He

requires. The name Isaac means “he will laugh” or “laughing

one.” By giving Abraham and Sarah this name or their son, God

was ushering in his desire or joyul giving, even in the midst o

great sacrice. It’s also interesting to note that in each o these

events, God radically tested Abraham’s aith beore unlocking

the necessary provision.God is still doing this today. Oten He tests our aith in Him

and our willingness to take the assignment He has given, beore

He unlocks the provision required or completing the task. So

what has God asked you to do today? As the Holy Spirit stretch-

es your aith during this 40-day devotional, take time to listen

or His still, small voice and be quick to obey His promptings. Aswe walk in intimacy and aithul obedience, courageously giving

our lives and our nances with willing hearts, God is aithul to

unlock abundant provision or every good work He has placed

in our hearts.

Diligence and Hard Work

The plans o the diligent lead to prot as surely as haste leads to

 poverty. – Proverbs 21:5 (NIV)

There once was a armer who gave his pastor a tour o his

beautiul acreage. As the pastor admired the manicured lawn,

majestic, straight rows o corn and reshly painted white picket

ences, he commented, “Wow, look what the Lord has done!”Without missing a beat, the armer retorted, “Well, you should

have seen it when He had it!” While the Lord had supplied the

land and resources, it was the hard work and diligence o the

armer that had turned the property around.

The Bible teaches us that we are co-laborers with the Lord.

In other words, we can’t do His part and He won’t do our part.I we aren’t diligent to do the work He has called us to, the

“elds” He has entrusted to us will remain lled with weeds

and unprotable. The word “diligent” in Proverbs 21:5 is the

Hebrew word charuwts, which paints the picture o a sharp in-

strument such as a threshing sledge which is very useul and e-

cient at getting the job done. The Lord wants us to be ecient

with our time, planning our day wisely in order to be as useulas we can and accomplish the tasks He sets beore us (Ephesians

5:15-17). Let’s make a decision to give everything we have or

the Lord, every day. Our diligence will lead to plenty as surely

as laziness leads to poverty.

Character and Integrity

The righteous who walks in his integrity – blessed are his children

ater him! – Proverbs 20:7 (ESV)

The word used or “integrity” in this passage is the Hebrew

word tom, which describes completeness, ullness, innocence and

simplicity. The Random House Dictionary denes integrity as the

adherence to moral and ethical principles and values. The wordintegrity is also oten used to describe the perect, sound, and un-

penetrable condition o a ship’s hull. When a ship has a hull with

great integrity, the strongest winds and waves can’t penetrate or

damage it. Similarly, when we walk in close relationship with the

Holy Spirit and are obedient to the godly values and principles in

His Word, our lives become inpenetrable rom the storms o lie

that come our way.

When we choose to honestly report our taxes, strive or posi-

tive benet or both sides in our business deals, and be punctual

and go the extra mile or our employers, we become men and

women who are “above reproach” and sae rom shipwreck.

Storms may come into our lie, but God will lead us through

them and into sae harbor. The lie o integrity is not just a ben-et or you. According to this verse, our children also share in

the blessings o this lie. Let’s seek the Lord in prayer and study

the godly principles and values o the Kingdom in His Word. As

we grow in relationship with Him and become eective doers

o His Kingdom principles, we set our course or a lie o bless-

ing and legacy o character that our children can receive as an

inheritance.

 Wise Stewardship

And the Lord said, “Who then is that aithul and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give themtheir portion o ood in due season? Blessed is that servant whom

his master will nd so doing when he comes. – Luke 12:42-43

Many o us live as i the time, talent and material things we

possess belong to us. But when we come to the Lord, receive Hisgit o salvation, and enter His Kingdom, our lie is no longer

ours. We have been purchased at a very costly price (1 Corinthi-

ans 6:20). Everything we possess and gain are portions allotted

to us by our Master and need to be wisely managed to please

Him and advance His Kingdom. O course, we have the kindest,

most generous Master that anyone could ever imagine, and He

desires that we richly enjoy our lives and the things He has givenus (1 Timothy 6:17).

Oten, however, we orget our role as His stewards and make

poor choices with our money, giving into temptations that deplete

our resources and drive us into debt. The word or “steward” in

this verse is the Greek word oikonomos. It is used to describe

the manager o household aairs, entrusted with the care o re-

ceipts and expenditures, and the duty o dealing out the proper

portion to every servant. When we live beyond our means or

spend money oolishly, we invite poverty and pain into our lives.

I your nances are not in order, take time today to budget and

plan so that you can begin making wise decisions that are pleas-

ing to Him. I you are struggling to make things work on your

own, seek wise counsel rom godly people who have authority inthis area. It is our destiny to be wise stewards with those things

entrusted to us and be ound trustworthy (1 Corinthians 4:2).

Let’s do whatever it takes to order and align our nances with

heaven and be the wise managers we were created to be.

True Riches

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted withmuch, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishon-est with much. So i you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And i you havenot been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will giveyou property o your own? – Luke 16:10-12 (NIV)

Jesus taught about money more than any other subject in the

Bible – around 2,350 verses. One o the reasons or this is that

having a right attitude toward nances directly aects many

other areas in our lives. In the passage above, Jesus teaches that

our willingness to wisely manage the money He has entrusted to

such as money beore He will trust us with the true, spiritual

 Worship Through Obedience

He who has my commandments and keeps them, it is he who lovesme. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will

love him and maniest Mysel to him. – John 14:21

One o the most basic ways we worship Jesus is by obeying His

commands in Scripture. In John 14:21, Jesus challenges us to ex-

amine our hearts and our love or Him by asking ourselves thesetwo questions: Do we know what the Father has asked us to do?

Are we aithul and diligent to be obedient to those commands?

The word or “keeps” in this Scripture is the Greek word tereo.

It describes someone who is very careul to guard or attend to

something o great value, such as an armed security guard hired

to protect a priceless jewel. All o his energy and attention are

directed toward making sure this rare gem is kept sae.

Likewise, every command that proceeds out o the mouth o

Jesus is a priceless jewel that we are to value and protect with our

lives. His commands are not to make us subservient slaves but

to bless us with the ull provision as aithul sons, wise stewards,

and heirs o His Kingdom. Jesus goes on to explain the earthly

reward or being obedient: we abide in the love o the Father and

the Son, and receive their maniest presence. The word “mani-

est” is the Greek word emphanizo, which means to show one’s

sel, come into view, disclose, declare, and make known. What a

promise! As we allow Holy Spirit to teach us His ways rom the

Word and empower us to walk them out, our relationship with

the Son o God, the very creator o our universe, grows into an

intimate riendship with continual encounters o His presence!Let’s worship the Lord by walking in obedience to His Word. As

we walk in the ways o the Kingdom we grow closer to the One

we love, bring glory to His holy name, and advance His ever-

increasing government on the earth!

Exposing the Spirit of Mammon

No servant can serve two masters; or either he will hate the oneand love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise theother. You cannot serve God and mammon. – Luke 16:13

Many o us have been taught that the word mammon in this

verse means “money.” However, this is not accurate. The word

mammon is o Aramaic origin and actually means “condencein wealth.” Historically, Mammon originated as a Syrian god

who began receiving worship in the ancient city o Babylon.

Babylon gets its root rom the tower o Babel, where people

became conused (Genesis 11).

In other words, Mammon was and continues to be a demon-

ic spirit whose chie goal is to conuse people into thinking that

they must put their aith and condence in wealth instead o

the Lord and His abundant provision. When we nd ourselves

thinking, “I I just had more money I would be able to give,” or

“I need to hoard what I have instead o generously giving or I

won’t have enough,” we are being invited to serve the spirit o

Mammon. But we don’t have to listen to that voice! Instead, let’s

expose the lies o this spirit by doing the opposite and encour-aging one another to trust God and give generously. As we do,

we break conusion o our lives and set an example or others,

taking ground or the Kingdom o God.

Building Our Spiritual Muscles

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the ellow-ship, to the breaking o bread and to prayer. Everyone was lled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done bythe apostles. All the believers were together and had everything incommon. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyoneas he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in thetemple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together

with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the avor o all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those whowere being saved. – Acts 2:42-47 (NIV)

The early church set a wonderul example or us to ollow as

a body o believers. They gave their lives to announce, embody

and demonstrate the Kingdom o God. One o the apostolic pil-

lars o the early church was the apostle Paul. He oten compared

our walk with the Lord to an athlete strengthening his muscles.

Just as an athlete exercises his body in order to perorm at the

highest level possible, Christians have “spiritual exercises” that

build us up to perorm at a high level (1 Corinthians 9:24-27;

Philippians 3:12-14).

While our motivation is never to “perorm,” we can strength-en ourselves or service by consistently participating in activities

modeled by the early church. This passage teaches us that they

studied the Word, ellowshipped and prayed together, gave gen-

erously, cared or one another’s needs, praised and worshipped

the Lord, and ushered new people into the Kingdom daily. It is

our high calling to raise the bar set by the early church and walk

in new levels o love, unity and power. Let’s encourage one an-

other to continue strengthening our spiritual muscles. Together

we are bringing Kingdom transormation to our cities, to our

countries, and to the nations.

Shaking Heaven and Earth

“Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” Nowthis, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal o those things that are being shaken, as o things that are made, that the things whichcannot be shaken may remain. Thereore, since we are receiving akingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which wemay serve God acceptably with reverence and godly ear. For our

God is a consuming re. – Hebrews 12:26-29

The word “shaken” in this passage is the Greek word saleuo,

which means to agitate or disturb rom one’s secure state. It is o-

ten used to describe powerul winds, waves and storms that toss

and turn a ship at sea. When a ship is caught in a powerul storm

at sea, the crew is oten orced to take desperate measures, such

as throwing cargo overboard, to survive. We all encounter storms

in lie. Oten these storms are not the devil, but God shaking our

lives to reveal an area that doesn’t line up with His Word. Our

Father loves us so much that He won’t leave us aimlessly adrit at

sea. He is a consuming re intent on burning away anything that

hinders us rom walking in ullness.

Financial storms have a way o removing unneccessary car-

go rom our lives. When unexpected expenses or loss disturb usrom a secure nancial state, we are orced to take action to sur-

vive. Financial crisis causes us to examine our budget and remove

unnecessary expenses to make ends meet. Oten these storms be-

come a blessing in disguise. Expenses and activities that were hin-

dering us rom our purpose and calling are thrown overboard.

Our budget is aligned with the will o God and, in the process,

we learn how to live a lie o contentment and stewardship withour nances (Philippians 4:12). Let’s remember these truths when

the storms o lie come. As we allow Him to remove things that

Be Strong and of Good Courage

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and o good courage; donot be araid, nor be dismayed, or the Lord your God is with you

wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9

Four times in the rst chapter o Joshua the Lord commands

his young leader to be strong and o good courage, trusting in

the presence and power o God to lead the Israelites into Ca-naan. Joshua listened to the Lord and made the decision to be

strong and o good courage, even when his people would not. He

trusted in God and saw his enemies as grasshoppers when others

saw giants. The result was a victorious lie o ulllment, ruit-

ulness and destiny. The word or “be strong” in this passage is

the Hebrew word chazaq, which means “be strong, courageous,

valiant, and mighty.”

This is the same word used when David “strengthened him-

sel in the Lord” while acing great distress at Ziklag (1 Samuel

30:6). As David and his men arrived in the land o the Philistines,

the city had been burned and their wives, sons and daughters tak-

en captive. The people were so grieved that they spoke o stoning

David. But David’s decision to strengthen himsel in the Lordturned the tide in his avor. Like Joshua, his ability to be strong

and courageous in challenging circumstances empowered him to

victory. He overcame the odds and boldly overtook the Amale-

kites, moving quickly rom apparent deeat to great victory. Soon

aterward he was anointed King o Judah! Just like Joshua and

David, God has called us to be strong and o good courage, and

live lives o intimacy, obedience and sacrice. He has called us toradical generosity, trusting in His Word, His aithulness and His

promises. Let’s be strong and o good courage. As we are, the

Lord is with us to overcome every obstacle in our path and usher

in a lie o great victory!

Passing the Test

Now the Passover, a east o the Jews, was near. Then Jesus lited up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, Hesaid to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?”But this He said to test him, or He Himsel knew what He would do. – John 6:4-6

The eeding o the 5,000 is an awesome story o the great com-

passion, miraculous multiplication and abundant provision o

Jesus. It is also an illustration o how the Lord tests the aith

o those who ollow Him. This passage tells us that Jesus asked

Philip where they should buy bread, to test him. The word

“test” here is the Greek word peiradzo, a word usually used to

describe the testing o a material substance such as metal. Metal

was placed in an intense re to reveal its quality. I no impuritiessuraced, the metal was ree o deects. Otherwise, urther tests

would be needed to make the metal pure and strong.

Likewise, Jesus puts us through tests to reveal the quality o

our aith (Hebrews 12:6). In Isaiah 54, we are compared to a

weapon in the hands o the Lord. It is only through the purica-

tion and testing o the rener’s re that we are made pure and

strong. Through the puriying re and intense heat o testing, weare made into a mighty weapon; no weapon ormed against us

will be able to prosper. This is our heritage as servants o the Lord,

and our vindication is rom God alone (Isaiah 54:16-17). The

Lord has been testing our hearts to reveal the quality o our love

and dedication to Him during these 40 days. He has been testing

our aith in His promises, our obedience to His commands, ouraithul stewardship and generosity with nances, and our trust

in His aithulness. Truly the Lord is puriying us. Let’s continue

to pass the tests He gives. As we do, we are strengthened and

sharpened into weapons to be used or His honor and glory.

For Such a Time as This

“For i you keep silent at this time, relie and deliverance will riseor the Jews rom another place, but you and your ather’s housewill perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the

kingdom or such a time as this?” – Esther 4:14 (ESV)

In this amous passage in the book o Esther, Mordecai proph-

esies into the destiny o Esther, exhorting her to see the grandpurpose or her lie and walk in the courage required to ulll it.

The Persian word or “Esther” means “star.” Like a star, Esther’s

courageous character shone bright and unwavering against the

darkness threatening her people. She realized that laying down

her lie or others and the good o the Kingdom was one o the

reasons she was born.

God has also placed each one o us on earth or a grand pur-

pose. Like Esther, each one o us was born to walk in courage

and wisdom with our God, laying down our lives to advance His

Kingdom. Like Esther, we also encounter resistance and darkness

that threatens to steal the dreams in our heart and the dreams

that God has or us. However, light is more powerul than dark-

ness! (John 1:5). God has given us a powerul light to shine onthis earth, that our Father may be gloried through us (Matthew

5:16). We all once walked in darkness, but now the Father o

lights has lled us with light. We carry His light everywhere we

go! (Ephesians 5:8) We were born to lay down our lives or the

good o the Kingdom. We are destined to be carriers o His light

– people o great character, productivity, and generosity. We are

a people who have come to the Kingdom or such a time as this.Let’s be like Esther and courageously partner with God to align

our lives and nances with heaven. As we do, our light shines in

the darkness and we aithully ulll the great destiny God has

placed upon our lives.

Bound Firmly to Our Promises

Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and theyhated him even more. So he said to them, “Please hear this dreamwhich I have dreamed.” – Genesis 37:5-6

The Hebrew phrase or “had a dream” in this passage carries

the meaning “to bind rmly.” When Joseph received a powerul

dream o destiny rom the Lord, he bound himsel rmly to thispromise over his lie and would not let go. During his journey,

he endured many trials, tribulations and setbacks, but nothing

could keep him rom holding rmly to his prophetic promise

that he would be a great political leader and ruler o many. By

binding himsel to the aithulness o God and walking closely

with the Lord in deep aith and intimacy, Joseph triumphantly

ullled his prophetic destiny to rule over all o Egypt.Like Joseph, when we receive prophetic dreams, visions, and

words rom the Lord, they root deep in our hearts, calling or

aith-lled conviction and action. However, it is our duty to keep

these promises always beore us, binding ourselves to them. Paul

urged Timothy not to neglect the git given to him when elders

laid hands on him and prophesied (1 Timothy 4:14). He admon-

ished him not to be passive regarding the prophecies over hislie, but rather war over them in prayer, ghting the good ght!

(1 Timothy 1:18). I you are reading this book, alignment with

the economy o heaven has been prophesied over you. God has

placed this book in your hands, and it is your destiny to manage

your lie and nances with great wisdom, character, integrity

and generosity. Bind yoursel to this promise. Speak the declara-

tions boldly over your lie. Wage war in prayer, asking the Fa-

ther to reveal blind spots and action steps to ullling this word

in your lie. He who has begun this good work in you is aithul

to complete it until the day o Christ Jesus! (Philippians 1:6).

It is my destiny to walk in alignment with the economy o heaven.

It is God’s plan that I manage my lie and nances with great wis-

dom, character, integrity and generosity. Today I choose not to ne-

glect this promise over my lie. Today I choose to wage war over

this prophecy and ght the good ght in prayer and in obedience to

the Lord’s direction. Today I bind mysel to this prophetic promise,

never to let go. I co-labor with the Lord and know that i He is or

me, who can be against me? I declare that He who has begun this good work in me will complete it until the day o Jesus! Amen!
