Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, the registration holder does not warrant that it will be efficacious under all conditions because the action and effect thereof may be affected by factors such as abnormal soil, climatic and storage conditions; quality of dilution water, compatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of the weeds against the remedy concerned, as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. The registration holder furthermore does not accept responsibility for damage to crops, vegetation, the environment, or harm to man or animal or for lack of performance of the remedy concerned due to failure of the user to follow the label instructions or to the occurrence of conditions which could not have been foreseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier or registration holder in the event of any uncertainty. PRECAUTIONS: • Do not eat, drink or smoke whilst handling this product. • Prevent contamination of food, feed, drinking water and eating utensils. • Wear rubber gloves and face shield when handling the concentrate. If in contact with eyes,

flush with water for at least 15 minutes. If in contact with skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. Contaminated clothing should be removed and washed before used again.

• Do not inhale dust or spray mist and avoid contact with spray mist whilst spraying. • Avoid spray drift onto other crops, grazing, rivers, dams and areas not to be treated. • Cleaning of spray equipment:

After application, the spray equipment must be thoroughly rinsed and cleaned in an open, well-ventilated area. Proceed as follows: (i) Drain the tank and spray equipment completely and flush the entire system with clean water

for 10 minutes; (ii) Fill the spray tank with clean water and add 1,0 of household ammonia (3 % solution) for

every 100ℓ water. With continual agitation, flush the spray system for at least 15 minutes and then drain completely;

(iii) Repeat step (ii); (iv) Rinse the spray tank and entire system with clean water; (v) Remove nozzles and all filters and clean them separately with the above cleaning mixture.

(vi) Remove any contamination on the outside of spraying equipment by rinsing with clean water. Dispose of cleaning water where it will not contaminate plants or where their roots may extend. Do not use chlorine containing cleaning agents.

Container disposal: • Containers and packages must be completely emptied before being disposed of. • Shake out thoroughly into the application hopper before destroying empty container. • Never re-use empty container for any other purpose. • Destroy empty container. • Ensure that the person assigned to apply the product is properly trained in its use. • Prevent spray drift onto susceptible or edible crops, grazing, green or immature bark and fruit of

non-target plants which can result in serious localized or translocated damage. • Do not apply within at least 15 m of boreholes, streams, rivers and dams. Use restrictions: Do not apply ALFAMAX under the following conditions:

(i) If rain is expected within 3 hours after spraying. If rain has occurred within 3 hours after application and sufficient weed control has not occurred within 2 – 3 weeks after application, the area should be re-treated with a glyphosate containing herbicide according to those label instructions.

(ii) Do not spray ALFAMAX on weeds suffering from excessive wilting, excessive cold conditions, frost damage, water logging, etc. Wait for the onset of more favourable growing conditions before commencing or continuing spraying. Best results are obtained when applied to actively growing weeds.

(iii) Do not apply ALFAMAX on weeds covered with dust. (iv) Do not apply ALFAMAX on weeds growing in water. Under no circumstances may

ALFAMAX be sprayed near or in any water resources.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Use only as indicated. Compatibility: Compatibility of ALFAMAX with other products is unknown. Please consult your nearest distributor for more information. Water quality: • Reduced results may occur if water is muddy, or when water containing soil or organic matter is

used, e.g., from dams, or if hard water containing calcium is used. • Use water that is suitable for irrigation. • The addition of ammonium sulphate at 1 – 2 kg per 100 wa te r or Bladbuff 5 at the

recommended rate may improve results when hard water is used. NOTE: ALFAMAX has both foliar and soil acting properties. It is used post-emergent against most annual and some perennial broadleaf weeds and grasses and for the pre-emergence control of subsequent germination. Apply to the green foliage and stems to control active growing weeds while a residual control takes place through the soil once sufficient rain has occurred. Application: Mixing:

a) Half fill the spray tank with water. Add the required number of soluble sachets to the spray tank whilst continuing agitation – allow soluble sachets to completely dissolve. Top up with water while agitating. Keep the mixture in continuous suspension by means of agitation.

b) Ensure thorough agitation of the mixture in the tank during mixing and spraying. Tank mixtures must be sprayed immediately and not allowed to stand in the spray tank, e.g., overnight.

1. ALFAMAX can be applied by means of a tractor-mounted boom sprayer equipped with Teejet-type flat fan nozzles, which should deliver 200 - 300 s pra y mixture / ha a t a cons ta nt pre s s ure of 150 - 250 kPa.

2. For knapsack equipment as a guide to achieve approximately 200 wa te r / ha us e a fla t fa n tip e.g. 8006 E in combination with a 200 kPa constant pressure regulator valve at a walking speed of 1 m per second and spraying 1 m wide.

3. Ensure that application equipment is correctly calibrated and that only clean water is used. Efficient agitation of the spray mixture is essential.

4. A uniform and even distribution of the spray material over the area is essential for effective ALFAMAX application.

5. The application rate of ALFAMAX is affected by weed specie as well as soil type, which in turn is determined by the clay content, silt and the organic matter content, weed size and species as well as duration of weed control desired. Seasonal control of weeds could be expected under normal climatic conditions.

6. Best results are obtained if application is delayed till onset of favourable climatic conditions e.g. after good rains have fallen.

The germination of other weeds may also be prevented but they were not encountered in the development trials.

NOTE: * To achieve best control, use only the highest recommended rate of ALFAMAX. The addition of 2 kg / ha Glyphosate WSG is recommended to achieve a complete knockdown of the existing weeds. A Repeated application 3 – 4 months later may be necessary to achieve long-term control. Tank mix combinations with other herbicides: A compatibility test with the proposed combination should be made using the spray water intended for use to determine if flocculation (rapid setting-out of the chemicals) occurs, in which case special precautions should be taken to ensure adequate agitation in the spray tank. ALFAMAX may be used in combination with the following products: Springbok (Reg. L6719) and Glyphosate WSG (Reg. L7119) These herbicides will assist the action of ALFAMAX by providing additional knockdown and widening the range of weed species controlled. In all cases follow the directions for use on the product label of the additional herbicide. Alhoewel hierdie middel omvattend onder ‘n groot verskeidenheid toestande getoets is, waarborg die registrasiehouer nie dat dit onder alle toestande doeltreffend sal wees nie aangesien die werking en effek daarvan beïnvloed kan word deur faktore soos abnormale grond-, klimaats- en bergingstoestande, kwaliteit van verdunningswater, verenigbaarheid met ander stowwe wat nie op die etiket aangedui is nie en die voorkoms van weerstand van die onkruid teen die betrokke middel sowel as die metode, tyd en akkuraatheid van toediening. Verder aanvaar die registrasiehouer nie verantwoordelikheid vir skade aan gewasse, plantegroei, die omgewing of vir nadelige effek op mens of dier of vir ‘n gebrek aan prestasie van die betrokke middel as gevolg van die versuim van die gebruiker om etiketaanwysings na te kom of as gevolg van die ontstaan van toestande wat nie kragtens die registrasie voorsien kon word nie. Raadpleeg die verskaffer of registrasiehouer in die geval van enige onsekerheid. VOORSORGMAATREËLS: • Moet nie eet, drink of rook terwyl die produk hanteer word nie. • Voorkom besoedeling van voedsel, voer, drinkwater en eetgerei. • Dra rubberhandskoene en gesigskerm wanneer die konsentraat hanteer word. Indien dit in

kontak met u oë, spoel onmiddellik uit met water vir ongeveer 15 minute. Indien in kontak met u vel, was dit dadelik af met seep en water. Indien dit op u klere mors, trek uit en was dit.

• Vermy kontak en inaseming van die spuitnewel gedurende toediening. • Voorkom spuitstofwegdrywing na gevoelige gewasse, weiding, riviere, damme en gebiede wat nie

onder behandeling is nie. Skoonmaak van spuittoerusting: Na toediening moet die spuittoerusting in ‘n oop en goedbelugte plek deeglik skoongemaak word voordat dit weer gebruik word. Volg die volgende stappe: (i) Dreineer die spuittenk en toerusting en spoel die hele sisteem deeglik met skoon water uit

vir 10 minute;

(ii) Maak die tenk met skoon water vol en voeg 1,0ℓ huishoudelike ammoniak (3% oplossing) by vir elke 100ℓ water. Met aanhoudende roering, sirkuleer die mengsel deur die spuitapparaat vir ten minste 15 minute en dreineer volledig daarna;

(iii) Herhaal stap (ii); (iv) Spoel die tenk en die hele spuitsisteem met skoon water uit; (v) Verwyder die spuitkoppe en filters en maak hulle apart skoon met dieselfde

ammoniakoplossing soos hierbo in (ii) genoem; (vi) Enige besoedeling aan die buitekant van die spuitapparaat moet verwyder word deur dit

met skoon water te was. Raak ontslae van die waswater waar dit nie plante of plantwortels in die grond sal beskadig nie. Moet nie chloorbevattende skoonmaakmiddels gebruik nie.

Wegdoen van leë houers: • Houers en verpakkings moet heeltemal leeggemaak word voordat dit vernietig word. • Skud die houer deeglik uit in die spuittenk voordat dit vernietig word. • Moet nie die leë houer vir enige ander doel gebruik nie. • Vernietig die leë houer. • Verseker dat die spuitoperateur behoorlik opgelei is in die hantering en toediening van die

produk. • Voorkom spuitstofwegdrywing na gevoelige of eetbare gewasse, weidings, groen- of

onvolwasse bas en vrugte van nie-teiken plante. Dit kan ernsitge gelokaliseerde of getranslokeerde skade veroorsaak.

• Moet nie binne 15 m van boorgate, spruite, riviere en damme toedien nie. Gebruiksbeperkings: Moet nie ALFAMAX onder die volgende toestande toedien nie (i) Indien reën verwag word binne 3 uur na toediening. Indien reën wel voorgekom het binne 3

uur na toediening en voldoende beheer nie verkry is binne 2 – 3 weke na toediening nie, moet die area herbespuit word met ‘n produk wat glifosaat bevat. Volg die gebruiksaanwysings soos aangetoon op daardie etiket.

(ii) Moenie ALFAMAX toedien op onkruid wat onder stremmingstoestande soos verwelking, uitermatige koue, rypskade, versuiping, ens., verkeer nie. Wag totdat groeitoestande gunstig raak voordat bespuiting hervat word. Die beste resultate word verkry indien ALFAMAX toegedien word op aktiefgroeiende onkruid.

(i) Moenie ALFAMAX toedien op onkruide wat met ‘n dik laag stof bedek is nie. (ii) Moenie ALFAMAX toedien op onkruide wat in water groei en moet onder geen

omstandighede waterbronne met ALFAMAX besoedel nie. GEBRUIKSAANWYSINGS: Gebruik slegs soos aangedui. Verenigbaarheid: Die verenigbaarheid van ALFAMAX met ander produkte is nie bekend nie. Raadpleeg u naaste verspreider vir verdere inligting. Waterkwaliteit: • Swak resultate kan verkry word indien modderige of grondbevattende water soos rivier- of

damwater, of harde (brak) water wat kalsium bevat, gebruik word. • Gebruik water wat geskik is vir besproeiing. • Byvoeging van ammoniumsulfaat teen 1 – 2 kg / 100 wa te r of Bladbuff 5 teen die

aanbevole dosis, mag die resultate verbeter wanneer harde water gebruik word. LET WEL: ALFAMAX het beide blaar- en grondwerkende eienskappe. Dit word as ‘n na-opkoms behandeling toegedien vir die beheer van die meeste eenjarige en sekere meerjarige breëblaaronkruide en grasse, en vir die vooropkomsbeheer van latere ontkiemende onkruid.

Bespuit groen blare en stamme om aktiefgroeiende onkruid te beheer terwyl nawerkende beheer deur die grond plaasvind sodra voldoende reën geval het. TOEDIENING: 1. Vermenging:

a) Maak die spuittenk halfvol met water. Voeg die verlangde aantal oplosbare sakkies in die spuittenk terwyl die mengsel aanhoudend geroer word. Maak seker dat die sakkies heeltemal opgelos is. Vul aan met water terwyl geroer word. Hou die mengsel in suspensie deur aanhoudende roering.

b) Verseker deeglike roering van die mengsel in die spuittenk gedurende vermenging en toediening. Tenkmengsels moet dadelik uitgespuit word en nie toegelaat word om in die spuittenk oor te staan nie bv. oornag.

2. Toediening van ALFAMAX kan geskied d.m.v. ‘n trekkergemonteerde balkspuit wat toegerus is met Teejet-tipe spuitneuse met ‘n waaierspuitpatroon. Die spuit moet in staat wees om 200 - 300ℓ spuitmengsel / ha te lewer teen ‘n konstante druk van150 - 250 kPa.

3. As riglyn vir rugsakbespuiting: Om ‘n spuitvolume van 200 wa te r / ha te ve rkry, ge bruik ‘n standaard platwaaierspuitstuk bv. 8006 E in kombinasie met ‘n 200 kPa konstante drukreguleerder teen ‘n werkspoed van 1 m / sekonde met ‘n spuitbaan van 1 m wyd.

4. Maak seker dat die toedieningsapparaat korrek gekalibreer is en gebruik slegs skoon water. Doeltreffende en deeglike roering van die spuitmengsel is noodsaaklik.

5. Eenvormige en eweredige verspreiding van die spuitstof oor die teikenoppervlak is noodsaaklik vir die doeltreffende toediening van ALFAMAX.

6. Die toedieningshoeveelheid van ALFAMAX word beïnvloed deur onkruidspesie asook die grondsoort wat bepaal word deur die klei-, slik- en organiese materiaalinhoud, onkruidgrootte, -spesie en die duur van onkruidbeheer wat verlang word. Onder normale klimaatstoestande kan seisoenlange onkruidbeheer verwag word.

7. Die beste beheer sal verkry word indien bespuiting onder gunstige klimaatstoestande geskied. Daar word aanbeveel om bespuiting liewers uit te stel totdat klimaatstoestande gunstig is soos bv. direk na ‘n goeie reënval.

Tenkmengselkombinasies met ander onkruiddoders: Voordat die voorgestelde kombinasie gebruik word, moet daar eers ‘n verenigbaarheidstoets uitgevoer word. Die voorgestelde kombinasie moet eers met die voorgenome spuitwater gemaak word om te bepaal of flokkulasie (vinnige afsakking van chemikalië) gaan voorkom. Indien flokkulasie voorkom moet spesiale voorsorgmaatreëls getref word om te verseker dat voldoende roering in die spuittenk plaasvind. ALFAMAX kan in kombinasie met die volgende produkte gebruik word: Springbok (L 6719) en Glyphosate WSG (L 7119).

Hierdie onkruiddoders bevorder die werking van ALFAMAX deur addisionele blaaropname. Dit verbreed ook verder die reeks onkruidspesies wat beheer word.
