  • Through the generosity of an anonymous donor, the proceeds from the sale of gold coins, lots 600-631,

pictured on the following pages, will go directly to Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to aid people facing

    emergency and disaster situations worldwide.

CRS is a global humanitarian relief and development organization that eases suffering and provides

humanitarian support to more than 159 million people in 114 countries, without regard to religion, race or

nationality. Founded in 1943 by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, CRS was born out of the

need to serve WWII survivors in Europe, internally displaced people and refugees worldwide. The agency is

called to save lives, address the root causes and effects of poverty, promote the sacredness and dignity of

human life, and build more just and peaceful societies outside of the United States.

CRS partners with local organizations to provide a large network of care in the areas in which they work. With

this unique approach, CRS can implement a comprehensive array of projects, including long- and short-term

safety-net programs that help build on local systems to ensure lasting success.

Additionally, CRS takes a comprehensive approach to international disaster relief. As experienced first

responders, they provide lifesaving aid to help survivors not only survive—but thrive. Catholic Relief Services

implements a wide array of disaster responses, which they tailor to the needs of each community. Ultimately,

through CRS projects, survivors are given the tools and skills necessary to manage their own recovery. By

using this market-based response, CRS has become a leader in giving disaster-affected communities greater

control over decisions that affect their lives.

CRS staff met Anisha Shresta, 44, shortly after the earthquake in 2015 and again a year later, at which time she

was still living in a makeshift shelter and had no income – in 2016 she had little hope, lived alone as her son was

away studying in university, and didn’t know how she would rebuild her home. In the three years that followed,

CRS helped her build an earthquake-resilient shelter as trained masons oversaw construction and helped her

make the most of cash grants from the government. She received a CRS grant for an improved goat shelter and

now has a larger herd of animals. She used money she earned from a CRS cash-for-work program that improved

footpaths to finish her home and to build another shelter for her growing goat herd. And Anisha’s exposure to

elected officials as CRS helped her access her government grants gave her the opening to secure a job cooking

and cleaning her local government office, her first steady source of income, ever.

Most important, she’s celebrating personal joy: her son graduated from college a few months ago and

immediately secured a government job in a neighboring district. He also recently got married, and Anisha no

longer lives alone: her new daughter-in-law Janisha Shresta, 21, shares her new, earthquake-resilient home.

As most rural families in Nepal keep goats, CRS is helping farmers improve their income by helping them have

healthier, larger goats with reduced mortality, able to be sold at a higher price.

CRS provided a grant for an improved goat shelter for 3,500 families. CRS only required two adaptations for

families to receive the grant: the shelter must be 2.5 feet off the ground to allow for proper cleaning and airflow,

and also include ventilation in the structure.

    TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE

Bidding in this auction sale constitutes acceptance by you (Bidder) of all the Terms of Sale stated herein. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. This is a sight sale. Each bidder must rely on his or her own judgment of an item’s descriptions and condition. Alex Cooper Auctioneers is not responsible for any error or omission. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition, nor is free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Prospective buyers may submit an inquiry requesting a more detailed examination and/or clarification of a condition report.

Note that a twenty-three percent (23%) buyer’s premium will be added to the hammer price. However, a reduced buyer’s premium of twenty percent (20%) will be added to the hammer price for payment by cash, debit card, wire transfer, or checks pre-approved by Alex Cooper Auctioneers.

Shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the purchaser. You are paying a third party shipping company so the shipping cost will be higher. Be sure to read each item’s condition, and contact us for condition reports and verification before bidding. Feel free to contact us with any other questions. Please note: Transparent holders in which the auction lots are stored are to facilitate viewing and inspection of the lots and ARE NOT for long-term storage.

THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE CONSTITUTE ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS ON WHICH PROPERTY LISTED IN THE CATALOGUE (INCLUDING INTERNET WEBSITE LISTINGS) SHALL BE OFFERED FOR SALE OR SOLD BY ALEX COOPER AUCTIONEERS, INC. (ALEX COOPER AUCTIONEERS).

These Terms and Conditions of Sale contain all terms and conditions on which Alex Cooper Auctioneers and the seller contract with the buyer of any tangible personal property sold at auction by Alex Cooper Auctioneers. These Terms and Conditions of Sale may be amended by Alex Cooper Auctioneers at any time and from time to time through the time of sale by any notices posted or oral announcements made during the sale. By bidding at an auction, whether in person or by agent, absentee bid, telephone, or Auction Flex Bidopia, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions of Sale.

1 AGENCYAlex Cooper Auctioneers acts as agent for the sellers of all property described in all catalogues. The contract for the sale of each item is a contract between the own-er of the item and the successful bidder for the item.

2 PRESALE ACTIVITYA. Inspections. All Alex Cooper Auctioneers auctions are sight sales. You are strongly advised to personally inspect and examine any items that you contemplate bidding for. If you purchase any item sight unseen, you accept all responsibility for such purchase; without limitation, you accept any defects, damages, past repairs, irregularities, and all other physical conditions that could have been determined by your inspection of the property. If the re-sults of your inspection and/or evaluation of any property leave uncertainty in your mind as to any matter you deem relevant to your potential purchase, Alex Cooper Auction-eers recommends you have an expert examine the lot for you or do not bid on the item in question. Neither Alex Cooper Auctioneers nor the seller made any warranty or guaranty as to property offered at auction except as provided in Section 5 hereof. B. Descriptions. Written and oral descriptions, including without limitation catalogue and internet descriptions and condition reports, are our opinions only, and should not be construed or relied upon as statements of fact nor as guarantees of any kind. Such statements do not constitute a representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind by us. Alex Cooper Auctioneers is not responsible or liable for the correctness of the catalogue, internet listing, condition reports, or other descriptions, except as provided in Section 5 hereof. Any references to damage, repair or restoration are for guidance only and should be evaluated by personal inspection by the bidder; the absence of such references does not imply that an item is free from defects, repairs, or restoration, nor does a refer-ence to particular defects, repairs or restorations imply the absence of others. Condition of frames on artwork is not generally described. All measurements are approxi-mate. Jewelry descriptions are only estimates as to carat size, gold content, number of stones, etc. Upholstered furniture has not been disinfected.C. Images. . All images in Alex Cooper Auctioneers catalogues are for identification purposes only and are not intended to represent the actual color or clarity of the item being auctioned. All photos are of the actual items being auctioned unless otherwise noted in the catalogue or online listing. Please note that the photos may be enlarged to show detail or reduced for inclusion in the catalog online listing.D. Inspections. All Alex Cooper Auctioneers auctions are sight sales. You are strongly advised to personally inspect and examine any items that you contemplate bidding for. If you purchase any item sight unseen, you accept all responsibility for such purchase; without limitation, you accept any defects, damages, past repairs, irregularities, and all other physical conditions that could have been

determined by your inspection of the property. E. Estimates of Selling Price. . Any estimate of the selling price of an item stated in our catalogue or internet listing is intended as a guide for prospective bidders. Any bid between the listed figures would, in our opinion, offer a fair chance of success. However, all property can bring prices either above or below stated estimates. Stated estimates should not be relied upon as the value of the item, nor as a statement that this is the price at which the item will in fact sell.F. Buyer’s Responsibility. Except as stated in Section 5 hereof, all property is sold AS IS without any representation or warranty of any kind by Alex Cooper Auctioneers or the seller. Buyers are responsible for satisfying themselves as to all aspects of property condition and descriptions, including without limitation genuineness, attribution, provenance, authenticity, authorship, completeness, condition, damage, repairs, restorations, estimates of value, and all matters referred to in catalogue entries, internet descriptions, condition reports, and elsewhere.

3 CONDUCT OF SALEA. Bidder Qualification. Alex Cooper Auctioneers may from time to time establish standards of qualification for bidders. Internet bidders must qualify through the online bidding software. Alex Cooper Auctioneers reserves the right, at its complete discretion, to refuse admission to the premises and/or participation in any auction, and to reject any bid.B. Bidder Registration. Prospective bidders are required to register prior to the auction. Registration is available a limited number of days prior to the time and place of the auction. Internet bidders may register through the Alex Cooper Bidopia online bidding software. PRIOR TO BID-DING, ALL REGISTRANTS ARE REQUIRED TO CAREFULLY READ ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE, THE DESCRIPTIONS FOR THE LOTS ON WHICH THEY HAVE BID AND THEY AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS OF SALE. Any questions shall be directed to Alex Cooper Auctioneers prior to bidding. Registrants are responsible for payment of purchases resulting from all successful bids. No children under age 13 are permitted at exhibi-tions or sales.C. Internet Bidding. Internet bidding is offered as a ser-vice to our customers, and prospective bidders shall not hold us responsible for any errors or failures in executing bids, nor shall they hold us responsible for any failure due to the loss of the auction applet supplied to us by Auc-tion Flex Bidopia online bidding software. Internet bids

are bid electronically by the computers of Auction Flex Bidopia online bidding software and compete against live bids on our auction floor, telephone bids, and absentee bids by bidders who are not participating in the internet component of the auction. Internet bids are announced competitively by a member of our staff at the time of the live auction. Alex Cooper Auctioneers may be offered other bids of the same value as your internet bid. It is at the auctioneer’s discretion which of these bids it chooses to accept during the auction.D. Acceptance and Rejection of Bids. Alex Cooper Auctioneers reserves the right to accept or reject any bid for any reason whatsoever. Absentee bids must be greater than 50% of the low estimate. The highest bidder ac-knowledged by Alex Cooper Auctioneers will be the ac-tual buyer. In the event of any dispute between bidders, or in the event of doubt on Alex Cooper Auctioneers’ part as to the validity of any bid, Alex Cooper Auctioneers will have the exclusive final discretion to determine the suc-cessful bidder, cancel the sale, or to re-offer and resell the item in dispute. Alex Cooper Auctioneers is not respon-sible for any errors or omissions in connection therewith. Alex Cooper Auctioneers shall be the sole arbitrator in case of any disputed bid. E. Reserves. It is the policy of Alex Cooper Auctioneers to act as agent on behalf of the sellers; Alex Cooper Auc-tioneers does not permit a seller to bid on his or her own lots unless expressly so stated or except as herein set forth. Unless advertised otherwise, some lots may be of-fered subject to a reserve. A reserve is the minimum price that the seller is willing to accept for the lot, which may or may not be disclosed, and which may be determined or modified at any time by written or verbal communication between the seller and Alex Cooper Auctioneers through conclusion of the auction sale for that lot. If a reserve is established, it is generally at a percentage of the low estimate and will not exceed the low estimate for the lot. It is important for all bidders to know that Alex Cooper Auctioneers may open the bidding on any lot by placing a bid on behalf of the seller, and may continue to bid on behalf of the seller up to the amount of the reserve price, either by placing consecutive bids or by placing bids in response to other bidders. Alex Cooper Auctioneers will not place consecutive bids on behalf of the seller above the reserve. F. Withdrawal of Lots. . Alex Cooper Auctioneers reserves the right to withdraw any lot before or during the sale and shall have no liability whatsoever for such with-drawal. No participant in the auction sale shall have a right to claim any damages, including consequential damages if a lot is withdrawn. G. Bidding Increments. Alex Cooper Auctioneers uses the following increment multiples for all bidding, whether live, absentee, telephonic or internet.

Subject to Alex Cooper Auctioneer’s discretion, the highest bidder accepted by Alex Cooper Auctioneers will be the winning bidder, and the striking of the hammer marks the acceptance of the highest bid and the entry of a contract between the seller and high bidder. The winning bidder assumes full responsibility and risk of loss for items purchased at the fall of the hammer. Any person submitting bids on behalf of a corporation or other entity, by making such bid, agrees to be personally liable for the payment of the purchase price and any related charges and the performance of all Buyer obligations under the Terms of Sale. ALEX COOPER AUCTIONEERS IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ERRORS IN BIDDING. All Bid-ders should make certain to bid on the correct lot and that the bid is the bid intended. 1852-D Gold Dollar NGC AU58. Rotated Reverse 1852-D Gold Dollar NGC AU58. Scarce to rare in all grades with a mintage of only 6360. With the naked eye, fields look clean, a loop shows clashing on both sides of the coin. Reverse has three noticeable die cracks. The first A in America from rim through the A and the wreath. The second A in America has a prominent die crack from Rim to Leaf to the right of the A. The third crack starts at the rim, goes through the A in States, through the 1 and ends in the R of Dollar. Reverse also has a 160 degree rotated reverse, almost a full medal turn with nice eye appeal Est. $3,500-4,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1855 Ty 2 Gold Dollar PCGS MS62 OGH 1855 Ty 2 Gold Dollar PCGS MS62 - Nice presentation with full luster over orange-gold fields. Clash marks found on both sides and the 8 in the date is weakly struck at the top. a few stray hairlines in the fields could have held it back from a higher grade. The survival rate of uncir-culated Type 2 Gold Dollars was not high but the Baltimore Basement Hoard of 1934 had 215 uncirculated Type 2 dollars Est. $1,200-1,400 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1860-D Gold Dollar NGC MS60 1860-D Gold Dollar NGC MS60. Rare, with a mintage of only 1,566; more survived than would be expected perhaps because of Civil War hoarding but the survival rate is estimated only at 80-100. The 60-D was one of the poorly struck is-sues and this can be seen in a missing UN and weak ITED in United on the obverse. The reverse has a weakly struck rim on left and a mark in the top left leaves. Nice flash and look on the reverse. Only 9 coins graded higher on the NGC census Est. $13,000-14,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1864 Gold Dollar PCGS MS68 CAC OGH 1864 Gold Dollar PCGS MS68 CAC. With a mintage of only 5900, there is an esti-mated survival of 100-150 in mint state, most at the 60-62 level. This 68 ranks very high being one of four 68s at PCGS and a 68+ and 69 at NGC. Color is dark original gold on obverse and same for the reverse except for splashes of violet and teal. Full luster on both sides with semi-reflective fields. A flashy coin worthy of its CAC in an OGH PCGS holder Est. $16,000-20,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

    604 .

1877 Gold Dollar NGC MS68 1877 Gold Dollar NGC MS68. Finest known at both services with 5 others at NGC and 3 at PCGS. Very sharply struck with the usual weak C in AMERICA, the coin boasts reflective fields on both sides that warrant PL status were it a Morgan Dollar. A tiny area of raised rust beneath the ear and doubled letters in DOLLAR matches Dave Bower’s observa-tions of this date. Still bathed in luster after 144 years it is certain to be a prize for the registry collectors Est. $11,000-13,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1839-C Classic Head Gold $2.5 PCGS AU55 HM-3 HM-3 R-4+Bandit face mask around eye present. A small amount of reflectivity resides under the fields on both sides. Color is a coppery gold with grade appropriate field marks. In the new HM classification system, it matches Obverse 2 with the mintmark over the left side of 3 in the date. It is Reverse K with a branch over and just to the left of the D in 2 1/2 D. This makes it HM-3 with a rarity rating of R-4+ This variety has a slight depression in a circle around her eye giving rise to the term Bandit Face. The last Classic Head Quarter Eagle from Charlotte, its mintage was18,140 it becomes exceptionally rare in mint state with most higher graded at PCGS being 58s Est. $7,000-8,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1841-C Liberty Gold $2.5 NGC AU55 CAC 1841-C Liberty Gold $2.5 NGC AU55 CAC. This coin has a mintage of 10,281 and it quite scarce, especially in mint state. NGC has only 6 graded 60 or higher. Doug Winter has rated this the second rarest Charlotte quarter eagle in mint state. With it’s CAC green bean, it has a pleasant appearance with minimal dis-tractions to the eye. Under a loop it has marks appropriate to the grade with its yellow gold color Est. $4,000-4,250 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1843-D Liberty Gold $2.5 Small D NGC AU55 1843-D Liberty Gold $2.5 Small D NGC AU55. Small D variety not noted by NGC. Fairly easy to find up to AU, it becomes increasingly difficult in mint state. This one has a nice strike with all stars de-tailed. The reverse is a little more flashy than the obverse. A fine example from Dahlonega Georgia Est. $2,500-3,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

    608 .

1850-C Liberty Gold $2.5 NGC AU58 1850-C Liberty Gold $2.5 NGC AU58. With its mintage of 9,148, it is hard to find in original condition with luster. This one was probably once dipped but has areas that are re-toning coppery gold in the hair. Has weak strikes on the eagle leg and other central areas which are normal for this issue. Both sides have semi-proof like fields Est. $4,250-4,750

1857-D Liberty Gold $2.5 PCGS AU58 CAC 1857-D Liberty Gold $2.5 PCGS AU58 CAC Well struck with full light luster. The Obverse has splotches of teal toning and the reverse is just bathed in original coppery orange gold color. 1860-C Liberty Gold $2.5 PCGS MS61 CAC 1860-C Liberty Gold $2.5 PCGS MS61 CAC This coin is popular both for its low mintage of 7,469 and for being the last coin from the Charlotte mint, making it a prize for collectors of Southern Gold. A little weakly struck in the reverse central devices. Recently screened at CAC, its Green bean makes it the only mint state 60-C at PCGS with CAC status Est. $11,000-12,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1866-S Liberty Gold $2.5 NGC MS62 Eliasberg 1866-S Liberty Gold $2.5 NGC MS62. From the fabulous collection of Baltimore financier Louis Eliasberg, this coin has the flash and appeal often found in that collection. Complete with strong almost blazing luster, one wonders why CAC didn’t label it. The reverse has a weak central strike and multiple clash marks. Usually only found in VF-XF condition, this MS62 only trails one NGC63 and PCGS has 2-62s but none of them has the Eliasberg provenance like this beauty with original orange cold colors Est. $11,000-13,000 Provenance: David S. 1872 Liberty Gold $2.5 NGC AU58 CAC 1872 Liberty Gold $2.5 NGC AU58 CAC. A mintage of only 3,000, this coin is rare in all grades, even more so in mint state. This is in the census at NGC with only a few 61s and 62s and it is very close to mint state itself. It has the flash of semi-proof like surfaces on both sides and minimal wear in the fields. A little scratch after her nose serves as a provenance diagnostic. A CAC Green bean only enhances its appeal for the quality con-scious collector Est. $2,500-3,000

1884 Liberty Gold $2.5 NGC MS61 1884 Liberty Gold $2.5 NGC MS61. Scarce in all grades with a mintage of less than 2,000 but it seems more were saved than earlier small mintage quarter eagles. Has the appearance of a coin nicer than 61 with its semi-proof like fields and full lus-ter, however many early business strikes from this date have a proof like appear-ance. Close inspection reveals some minor bag and handling marks but it is still a very attractive coin with eye appeal Est. $1,400-1,600 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1854-D Gold $3 NGC AU58 CAC 1854-D Gold $3 NGC AU58 CAC The only gold $3 struck at Dahlonega and aside from the unique 1870-S, the 54-D is the rarest and most expensive $3 across all grade levels with its mintage of only 1120 coins. The 5 and 4 in the date touch and the large D is thought to have been used on the 1854-D Half Eagles. Nice luster for a 58 and truly a rare coin Est. $45,000-50,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1811 Tall 5 Gold $5 Half Eagle PCGS MS64 CAC 811 Tall 5 Gold $5 Half Eagle PCGS MS64 CAC The third finest known after a 65 and 66, it is difficult to imagine how a 210 year old gold coin remained in such im-maculate condition. John Reich’s capped bust design is a marvel of workmanship. Strong strike and beautiful shimmering luster and gorgeous original gold color - CAC agreed that it was strong for the 64 grade. A classic gold condition rarity, the new owner might have to stretch a little to take it home Est. $27,500-32,500 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1849-D Liberty Gold $5 NGC AU58 Christian Gobrecht designed all the Liberty Gold Coins which lasted from 1839 – 1907, one of the longest designer runs in US coins. During most of this period he also had the half dime, dime, quarter, twenty cent piece half dollar, and Quarter-Half and Full Gold Eagle. Only six better at NGC. Struck on a better planchet than some previous half eagles at Dahlonega, the appearance of a typical 49-D is above the norm. Exceptionally rare in mint state with only 4-5 known, this one is close. Reflective fields on reverse with strong strike Est. $5,000-6,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

    618 .

1854-C Liberty Gold $5 NGC MS60 Weak C 1854 C $5 Liberty Weak C MS60 NGC One of the scarcest Charlotte Half Eagles from the 50s. Most often seen in VF and XF and lower grade AU. Unlike many 54-C’s the obverse stars are well struck and like many 54-C’s the reverse central details are weakly struck (lower and right side of eagle). Mintmark is weak but clear and fields, as 54-C’s often are, are abraded as the 60 grade might suggest. Variety 2 with mintmark centered over upright in E; Only 4 Weak C’s better at NGC Est. $6,000-8,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

    619 .

1858-C Liberty Gold $5 NGC MS60 1858-C Liberty Gold $5 NGC MS60 Usu-ally one of the better struck Charlotte eagles, this one compares nicely with well struck stars, portrait, eagle and den-ticles on both sides. Surfaces have prob-ably fewer marks and nicks than most MS60 coins and the luster appear soft with semi-reflective fields on both sides. Color most likely affected by an old dip-ping. Matches known die diagnostics with 2 small lumps on Liberty’s cheek, die line coming off right base of I in LIBERTY and over first A and RI in AMERICA. Variety 1 Est. $6,000-7,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1861-C Liberty Gold $5 PCGS AU53 1861-C Liberty Gold $5 PCGS AU53. This is the final coin produced at the Char-lotte mint and it is believed that 800-900 were struck by the Confederacy after they took control of the mint. This one does have a small die crack in AMERI so could be from that group. Strike is good other than eagle’s head and reverse has aqua-teal toning in some of the fields. Popular due to its association with the Confederacy and low mintage of 6,879 Est. $10,000-11,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1879-O Liberty Gold $10 PCGS XF45 1879-O Liberty Gold $10 PCGS XF45 With an estimated survival rate of 4-5 dozen by Doug Winter, any 79-O is rare from an original mintage of 1500 coins. With a mintage so small it is expected that lack of wear on the dies would produce some proof like coins and this one has reflec-tive fields and a strong strike, only dimin-ished by wear and contact marks. The New Orleans mint resumed the striking of gold coins in 1879 and not many with the $20 only getting a few hundred more. Quite a rare coin in a nice circulated grade Est. $13,000-16,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1914-S Indian Gold $10 MS64 1914-S Indian Gold $10 MS64 The instant impression from this Indian $10 is amazing and blazing cartwheel luster. Mint frost covers the obverse and only a couple marks on the face keep it from Gem status. Scarce in MS64, only a dozen or so coins are higher in the census. Beautiful natural orange-bronze gold colors the obverse. Est. $5,000-6,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1875-CC Liberty Gold $20 NGC MS62 1875-CC Liberty Gold $20 NGC MS62 This CC complete the full mint run of coins in this sale. Reflective surfaces and full cartwheel luster highlight this Carson City Double Eagle. If the obverse was as mark free as the reverse, it would probably grade 63 and that would make it conditionally rare. Only a couple dozen coins and either service grade 63-64. Quite a memento from the Old West Est. $8,000-9,500 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1907 High Relief St Gaudens Wire Edge $20 NGC MS66 President Teddy Roosevelt was quite dissatisfied with US coinage and in 1906 hired sculptor Augustus St. Gaudens to redesign all US coinage for a $5,000 fee. He managed to finish the designs for the Eagle and Double Eagle before dying of Cancer in August 1907. The first version have Ultra High Relief with only 22 minted most likely as a pattern. The High Relief regular issues came out in two varieties – Wire Edge, like our coin and Flat Edge, with the latter being more scarce at 1/3 the population. 12,367 were minted and several thousand were probably melted after FDR’s gold order of 1933 The fields on our coin are remarkably free of abra-sions or marks as could be expected from a MS66. There is one tiny mark below the eagle, in the rays of the sun and that could have held it back from a 67 Est. $55,000-65,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1928 St. Gaudens Gold $20 PCGS MS67 1928 St. Gaudens Gold $20 PCGS MS67 Few things are as enjoyable to the eye as is a superb gem Saint. Only a mark on her knee, on the sun and a couple stray ticks in the feathers seem to hold this back from a truly lofty 68 which would make it finest known as only thirteen 67+ coins are graded higher. Details are so fine that one can imagine seeing politicians argu-ing at the Capital building at the lower left Est. $10,000-11,000 Provenance: Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs

1798 Bust Dollar Lg. Eagle Pointed 9 Close Date XF BB-125, B-8A 1798 Bust Dollar Lg. Eagle Pointed 9 Close Date 4 Vertical Lines - XF Four berry reverse with shattered die. More diecracks than DIE state Iii as described in Bowers (2013) and Bolen-dar (1950) with Die State IV cracks of D through the left wing and tops of the first 3 clouds into the bottom of TE, and a crack from the top of left wing arcing down to the bottom of I in UNITED. A third additional crack starts in the butts of the arrows running down through the bot-tom of the tail feathers into the denticles. This seems to be an intermediate state that has some elements of the reverse cracks described in States IV and V yet not all the elements described on the obverse in those states as the reverse die continued to shatter Est. $2,250-2,500
