1 Introduction

The traditional PBX & traffic markets are “evaporating in the cloud”. At the same time, customers are asking for more intensive collaboration. Actually, 71% of companies find that knowledge sharing is critical for their organization, and that their collaboration tools have poor ergonomics, do not interoperate, and need to be available from anywhere (source NetMediaEurope).

This calls for a innovative workplace collaboration service, which enables cross-community interactions, beyond company-borders, with seamless integration into existing ICT assets.

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) is introducing Alcatel-Lucent Rainbow, an overlay cloud service operated by ALE. Rainbow offers contact management, presence, persistent messaging, audio/video, screen & file sharing, with PSTN termination and API openness to integrate with existing customer PBXs, machines and apps.

Benefits for customers / users

- Users & business line owners:

o New collaboration services for greater team collaboration

o beyond company borders (onsite / offsite / open to any business community)

o across heterogeneous company sites (independent from existing ICT asset)

o frictionless adoption

o autonomous & self-management of users community (independent from IT)

- IT:

o Click-to deploy

o Enterprise-grade (admin, containment, privacy)

o Integration with existing telephony (investment protection) & with 3rd-party apps (biz process)

- Finance:

o Subscription based (no capex)

o Reduce telecom costs

o Support: Free with ALE support for users

5 What’s new

The main purpose of this delivery is:

• To release a first step of Multi-User Chat (MUC) offering the possibility to create rooms where several users can discuss simultaneously.

• To provide the capability to an existing company to expand Rainbow users in an autonomous mode either with self-registration or by sending an invitation. New users will only be able to collaborate with other users from their own company. It is therefore recommended to encourage enough user to create their account to see the collaboration effect of Rainbow.

• To propose an action bar displayed during the desktop sharing to manage the communication.

• To release the OutlookTM plugin feature to all Rainbow users having Outlook 2010 and above.

and to fix issues encountered in previous versions:

• The company is now displayed near user’s name in the search result (13837).

• The removal of the personal email in the vcard is effective immediately without needing to update of the interface (14671).

• After a Network move or a long period of inactivity, the Desktop App might now reconnects automatically (11981 / 14710).

• Loudspeaker selection in users settings is functional (14082).

• The presence status of the stakeholders of a desktop sharing session is homogeneous between clients (14567).

• Unread notifications don’t re-appear after reading (14366).

5.1 Multi-User Chat (MUC)

The version introduces in the Rainbow solution the Multi-User chat. Several users will now be able

to exchange IMs together.

The following chapter will present the Multi-User chat feature whatever the client used. Clients’

specific behaviors or configuration will be detailed in the correspondent paragraph below with the

help of screen-shots.

The first step is to create a bubble, it can be done with all clients. At the creation, in addition to

defining a name and a subject (optional), the user will have to select the group’s members (up to

200 entries).

The invited participant will be prompted to accept or decline the invitation. The member having

accepted will be part of the chatting group (they are the Attendees), will be visible by the other

participants whereas the user having refused will only remain in the owner’s “Declined invitations”

list. The owner will also keep in his list the users having left the room in the “Away” group.

The bubbles can be accessed either from the dedicated areas “My bubbles” or “All” as well as

directly from the recent conversations list.

The Owner of a bubble will be able to

• Add a new participant or remove one from the list;

• Visualize the detailed participant list according to their status: “Attendee” (members having accepted the invitation), “Pending” (no acknowledgment yet) and “Declined” (users having refused the invitation);

• Delete a room, in this case the room will be automatically removed from all participant’s roster and recent conversation list;

• Modify the description of the chat room.

The Participant, having limited rights accesses, will only be able to:

• See the confirmed Attendees;

• Leave room.

6 Limitations, Restrictions and workarounds

This chapter presents the known limitations or restrictions applied to this delivery. It will propose a workaround when identified.

6.1 Multi User Chat (MUC)

• In Multi-User Chat, the unread messages notifications are functional only for invitations and not for messages themselves.

• MUC is not yet offered on Android App.

• 15891 Some mix of languages might still be present on iOS App.

• 15886 On iOS APP, when sliding a bubble, by mistake “Delete” is proposed for a member in addition to “Leave”, choosing this will remove the bubble from the list but not from the server

• 15457 On iOS removing messages in a bubble is not possible

6.2 Web Apps

• Screen sharing is only offered on Windows Desktop App, not on OSX desktop neither in Web App

• Quality of WebRTC calls on Firefox is not properly handled

• During enrollment process, a domain name can only be associated to one single company

• 12905/13845 Away presence not always refreshed wisely after a connection with the mobile

• 12552 Sometimes the user remains busy after a webRTC call.

• 14675 Outlook add-in installation and un-install is combined with Desktop and cannot be performed separately.

• 14595 On the Desktop app : sometimes the “Release” button is not refreshed at the end of a call

• 14607/14662: For unidentified reasons (yet) the file transfer sometimes fail

• 14490 One need to click several times on the Notification “Accept someone to join his network” to close it

Alcatel-Lucent Rainbow – Production Note

Edition 8 ©2016 ALE International 23

• 15061 No “Missed call” message is sent to a user who has not accepted a screen sharing request.

• 15612 Login and email are truncated in 'My Profile' screen

• 15541 The "Busy sharing" presence status might be lost after stopping a slide show

• 15541/15555 Despite the improvements network disconnection and reconnection might cause unexpected behavior (IM duplicated, need to restart the Desktop app)

• #15742 Outlook plugin authorizes to initiate a WebRTC call to a user "Online Mobile", the call arrives no where

6.3 Mobile Apps

• Android

o 13381 Android Rainbow Applications still suffer from too high power consumption – this issue is under fix and will be delivered in the coming weeks.

o 12715 The App still suffers from some presence inconsistencies.

• iOS

o 13381 iOS Rainbow Applications still suffer from too high power consumption – this issue is under fix and will be delivered in the coming weeks.

o 14511 A conversation is pushed at the end of the conversation list when it is cleaned.

o 14647 The IM counter on the Rainbow icon doesn’t give always the good value in case of IM sent during user’s disconnection.

o 15617 Sometimes Presence status is not up to date in Multi device configuration

6.4 PBX agent

• The transfer is working only in 1 PCC because the Clients don’t offer this service

• The transfer in ringing state is not functional since one call-Id remains blocked in the Agent

• The call deflect is not working when both devices are monitored (one callblocked. Deflect is used in case of dynamic forward to Voice mail or during a call pick-up on a set configured in Tandem
