Officer La responded to an aggravated assault incident. Officer Haugh recognized a subject from postings on APD’s Daily 49 TV who was a known property crime offender with an active felony warrant. The subject was booked on two outstanding property crime felony warrants.

• On August 20, Officer Doose located a stolen vehicle parked in a convenience store parking lot. Officer Doose requested back-up and followed the vehicle. Once back-up arrived, officers conducted a felony stop and took three subjects into custody. The car was returned to the owner.

• On August 21, Officer McBrayer and Recruit Officer LeClair were dispatched to a battery call at a hospital. Upon arrival, hospital security was detaining a male for battery on a nurse. Recruit Officer LeClair conducted a preliminary investigation which led to the arrest of the male for felony battery on a healthcare worker.

• On August 21, officers were dispatched to a shooting. Officers found a victim with significant injuries. A follow-up investigation by detectives revealed the victim admitted to selling marijuana to support his family. He had made contact for a sale with an individual through Facebook. The victim stated the individual showed up with a shotgun and demanded the victim turn over his product. When the victim refused, three shots were fired, one hitting the victim in the arm. Utilizing the information from the victim’s Facebook page, Officer Burt identified the shooter. The shooter was taken into custody and booked on numerous charges including attempt to commit murder. Detectives have also linked the shooter to other robberies.

• On August 21, Officer Ledford responded to a stolen vehicle call. Upon arrival, he made contact with a victim and witnesses who stated the offender was seen pushing the vehicle on the road. As Officer Ledford was completing his report, a citizen approached and told Officer Ledford about a suspicious vehicle nearby that matched the description of the stolen vehicle. Officer Ledford and other officers discovered a male subject inside the vehicle going through items. The subject noticed the officers and started to run. After a brief foot chase, the subject gave up and was placed under arrest for the stolen vehicle.

• On August 23, Officer Adams was dispatched to a call of a citizen being threatened with a knife. The citizen stopped a shoplifter who then pulled a knife on the citizen. The citizen got on a bike

FIELD SERVICES BUREAU-EASTSoutheast Area Command...• In August, the Southeast Area Command had

12,057 calls for service, wrote 2,290 reports and issued 506 citations. There were 202 felony arrests/warrants, 211 misdemeanor arrests/warrants and 14 driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrests. Eleven community meetings were attended.

• In August, Officers Lowell, Carlson, Montoya and Groff conducted a tactical operation in response to a high number of stolen vehicles being discarded in one area of town. The officers increased periodic and targeted patrols. The operation was conducted throughout the month and yielded four recovered stolen vehicles, two felony arrests and one misdemeanor arrest.

• On August 7, a caller reported they had found their friend’s stolen vehicle. Commander Griego and Acting Sergeant McBrayer responded to the call. A male was located inside the vehicle sleeping and was contacted by officers. A search incident to arrest revealed the subject was in possession of marijuana. During the inventory of the stolen vehicle, stolen merchandise from an auto burglary was located. The victim was contacted and arrived at the police substation to identify her property. The subject was booked for receiving and transferring a stolen motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.

• On August 10 and 11, Southeast Impact detectives assisted federal authorities with a warrant round-up and search warrant execution. This round-up was the culmination of a four month federal operation. Southeast Impact detectives successfully located and arrested over ten individuals. During these arrests, several ounces of narcotics and six firearms were seized. Also, more than ten stolen vehicles and motorcycles were found.

• On August 13, Officer Small responded to a domestic violence call in which the victim was run over by a car. Officer Small found the victim with serious injuries to her leg and torso area. She was with her boyfriend in a car when they got into a domestic dispute. The boyfriend pulled over and she exited the vehicle and walked away. The boyfriend then accelerated and hit her with the vehicle. Officer Small had the victim transported to the hospital and obtained an emergency restraining order and arrest warrant on the offender.

• On August 20, Officer Haugh and Recruit

to flee, and the offender slashed his tire and fled the scene. As Officer Adams attempted to locate the offender, he was advised by dispatch that the offender had returned to the area of the business. Officer Adams returned and placed the offender under arrest. A knife was found on the offender and he was positively identified by the victim. The offender was booked for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

• On August 25, officers were dispatched to a female who had just stabbed a male subject several times and fled the area. Officers arrived and secured the scene. After an investigation, officers located the suspect and placed her in custody.

• On August 26, Officer S. Romero was dispatched to an apartment for a welfare check. She found a male on the ground with a television on top of him. She determined exigent circumstances and the Albuquerque Fire Department forced entry into the apartment. The male was found to still be alive and was transported to the hospital.

• In August, the Southeast Area Command’s crime prevention specialist attended ten community meetings and made 76 citizen contacts.

• On August 31, Officer Martinez was dispatched to an initial report of a traffic crash. Officer Martinez arrived on scene where a male and female were detained. The male had broken a car window and burglarized a vehicle. The female attempted to flee the scene but crashed into a fence in the parking lot. A witness detained the female. Officer Martinez determined their vehicle was stolen. The vehicle had a large amount of construction tools inside of it and had not yet been entered as stolen. Officer Martinez was able to make contact with the owner who arrived on scene and took possession of his vehicle. The male was arrested for auto burglary, receiving and transferring a stolen vehicle and conspiracy to commit a felony. The female was arrested for receiving and transferring a stolen vehicle, conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of burglary tools.

Northeast Area Command...• In August, the Northeast Area Command had

10,981 calls for service, wrote 2,235 reports and issued 873 citations. There were 117 felony arrests, 330 misdemeanor arrests, 34 driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrests and 115 felony and misdemeanor warrants issued. Twenty-three community meetings were attended.

• On August 2, Officer Kelly was dispatched to an auto burglary call. Upon arrival, the victim advised Officer Kelly that she was electronically tracking her stolen item and provided a location. Officer Kelly drove to the address and located a male subject outside a residence. Through his investigation, Officer Kelly located the stolen item inside a backpack next to the male. The subject was placed under arrest for felony transferring or receiving of stolen property and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.

• On August 2, Officer Radosevich and Recruit Officer Dalton were dispatched to a female subject threatening to jump off a bridge. Several officers assisted in shutting down the freeway to allow Officer Radosevich to speak to the female. Utilizing his crisis intervention training, Officer Radosevich eventually had the female agree to be transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital for evaluation.

• On August 5, Officers Varela and Willsey were dispatched to an armed robbery at a local motel. Officers apprehended the offender and Armed Robbery Unit detectives responded and assumed case responsibility.

• On August 7, Officer Knaub was dispatched on a call of a male chasing another male with a gun. Upon arrival, Officer Knaub contacted one of the males. It was discovered that the male being chased had just broken into the other male’s vehicle. As assisting officers began looking for the other individual, Officer Knaub saw him climbing over a block wall. The subject was taken into custody with some of the victim’s belongings in his pockets.

• On August 11, Officer Lopez-Shook responded to an attempted carjacking. While Officer Lopez-Shook began searching for the offender, the offender carjacked another vehicle nearby. With information provided by Officer Lopez-Shook, the carjacked vehicle was located. When officers attempted to engage the vehicle, it fled. Later that day, the vehicle was again located. The vehicle was recovered and the offender was taken into custody.

• On August 13, officers responded to an armed robbery. The suspect stole a woman’s purse from a hotel lobby and fled in a stolen vehicle. Employees of the hotel witnessed the incident and rendered assistance. The cellphone was tracked using global positioning system (GPS) to the Southeast Area Command and officers from that area command were dispatched. The suspect was located and booked on multiple

stabbing call. The caller advised the victim was stabbed multiple times in the chest by his girlfriend who was still inside the apartment. Officers established a perimeter and made announcements. She came out of the apartment and was successfully apprehended.

• On August 13, Officer Henry was the primary officer on a residential burglary in progress. With the assistance of a K-9 Unit, Northeast Area Command officers established a perimeter and took the offender into custody. He was positively identified by a witness and arrested. He was transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation and, upon release, was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.

• On August 22, Officer Hollier successfully apprehended two subjects attempting to cash forged checks at a local bank. The two obtained the checks from one offender’s mother without her permission. Both individuals were arrested.

• On August 22, officers were dispatched to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. After a domestic dispute between two individuals, a nearby security officer got involved. At that point, the offender brandished a knife and threatened the security officer. The offender was located on video by the Real Time Crime Center and apprehended without incident.

• In August, Detective Neil investigated a suspect who stole a debit card number and purchased multiple items online. The suspect was found to have spent close to $12,000. The suspect was charged with 73 counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, 73 counts of identity theft and theft of a credit card.

• In August, Detective Neil investigated an individual who shoplifted from a local retailer and threatened loss prevention staff with a knife as they attempted to stop her. A photo of the individual was broadcast on the news. Detective Neil obtained several tips and positively identified the individual. She was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

• In late August, the neighborhood watch ad hoc committee, which was formed from the Northeast Community Policing Council meetings, held their first Neighborhood Watch Symposium. The initiative was to encourage more interest in neighborhood watch within the area command. There were 68 community members in attendance along with the ad hoc committee and Lieutenant Burke. The steps to

create a neighborhood watch were discussed as well as input from existing block captains.

• On August 23, Officer Cook responded to a stolen golf cart at a car dealership. Officer Cook took the male into custody without incident and returned the golf cart undamaged to the dealership.

• On August 26, Officer Radosevich and Recruit Officer Dalton observed a vehicle listed as embezzled in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. With the assistance of other officers, a felony stop was conducted and two subjects were taken into custody. The vehicle was returned to its owner.

• On August 28, Officer Hurtado noticed a vehicle traveling at a slow rate of speed. He ran an inquiry of the license plate and found the vehicle had been reported stolen. Officer Hurtado followed the vehicle into a parking lot where assisting units arrived and conducted a felony stop. The driver was booked for receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle.

• On August 31, officers responded to an auto burglary in progress. Two offenders were taken into custody.

Foothills Area Command...• In August, the Foothills Area Command had

7,075 calls for service, wrote 1,321 reports and issued 707 citations. There were 147 felony arrests, 88 misdemeanor arrests and seven driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrests. Twenty-two community meetings were attended.

• On August 7, officers were dispatched to a nightclub where a male was pointing a handgun at a female. When officers arrived, two security guards had the male detained in handcuffs. As officers were running a check on the male, he kicked a sergeant twice. The male was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and battery on a police officer.

• On August 7, Officer Shultz was dispatched to a suicide call where a male subject was holding a knife to his chest. After about thirty minutes of speaking to the male subject, he threw the knife down. The male was transported to the hospital by ambulance for evaluation.

• On August 8, officers were dispatched on a domestic dispute call between a female and male. A check on the male revealed an outstanding warrant. As officers attempted to arrest him, he pushed the female into an officer, fled and eluded officers. Officers were dispatched to the residence less than a week later

on another domestic dispute call. The female allowed the male back in the residence and he physically attacked her and threatened to murder her and her kids. Officers found the male hiding behind a nearby dumpster and he was arrested.

• On August 9, officers were dispatched to a disturbance at an apartment complex. Remarks on the call stated a male was banging on doors and refusing to leave. As officers were arriving, dispatch informed officers the disturbance had escalated and the male that was banging on doors had been shot. The male did not survive and the Homicide Unit took over the investigation. It was determined the decedent was highly intoxicated, causing a disturbance with multiple residences at the complex, and threatened a male prior to being shot one time in the chest. The male shooter was determined to be a victim and released.

• On August 9, officers responded to a male subject who was shoplifting and threatened an employee with a knife while he was exiting the store. Officers located the male subject nearby and took him into custody. Officers also located a backpack containing the stolen items in a public parking lot. The items were returned to the store. The suspect was arrested for felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor larceny.

• On August 17, Officer Higgs and Sergeant Schroeder responded to a call where a child was abandoned on a street by a male subject. While Officer Higgs stayed with the young child, Sergeant Schroeder and Officer Lambert located the male subject as he was trying to leave an apartment building nearby. The male subject was arrested for child abuse.

• On August 22, officers were dispatched to an auto burglary in progress. The subjects had burglarized a vehicle and found a garage door opener. When they opened the garage, the homeowner awoke. As the homeowner opened the door to his garage, three young male subjects fled. The homeowner witnessed their vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, striking his neighbor’s parked vehicle and flipping on its side. The occupants crawled out of the vehicle and fled. The homeowner called police. Upon arrival, officers found an additional vehicle in the neighborhood had been burglarized by the same individuals. The case was forwarded to the Burglary Unit. Four offenders were identified and arrested through surveillance footage provided by the homeowner.

• On August 26, Recruit Officer Ortiz and Officer White observed a vehicle high centered on a concrete parking block. Recruit Officer Ortiz contacted the driver who was intoxicated. Recruit Officer Ortiz completed an investigation and determined from statements made by the driver and passenger that the driver drove onto private property from a public roadway and crashed into the parking block. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

• On August 27, officers were dispatched to a shooting. The caller advised he was attacked by his friend before shooting him to protect himself. Officers arrived and found a deceased subject in the backyard. The Violent Crimes Unit was called to the scene. The caller was transported to the hospital for his injuries. Violent Crimes determined the caller was acting in self-defense.

• On August 30, officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence. Officers arrived and found a male unconscious in the living room and another male attempting CPR. Officers took over first aid and interviewed the homeowner. The homeowner stated his female cousin was at his house with her boyfriend. After drinking, the boyfriend started arguing with everyone and was told to leave. The boyfriend broke a window and cut a screen door with a knife as they were leaving. The younger brother walked to the end of the driveway to make sure the cousin and her boyfriend didn’t return. Suddenly, the vehicle returned at a high rate of speed and struck the male pushing him into another vehicle in the driveway. The vehicle then fled the scene. The male was pronounced dead at the scene and a Homicide call-out was initiated. Due to the information gathered by the initial responding officers, the offender was located the following day and arrested.

• In August, Team 9 responded to 720 calls for service, made 11 felony arrests, recovered three firearms, issued 12 criminal summonses and wrote 118 reports. They were also the primary responders for two homicides.

FIELD SERVICES BUREAU-WESTValley Area Command...• In August, the Valley Area Command had

8,093 calls for service, wrote 1,569 reports and issued 341 citations. There were 117 felony arrests, 113 misdemeanor arrests and 14 driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrests. Twenty-one community meetings were attended.

stabbing call. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject with multiple stab wounds and he was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital by the Albuquerque Fire Department. The victim was stabbed by his girlfriend’s father who fled the scene before officers arrived. The next day officers were called by a witness and advised that the suspect had returned to the scene, caused a disturbance and was trying to leave the area. Officers responded and took the suspect into custody. The suspect was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center for multiple felony charges including attempted murder.

• On August 4, Officer Molina stopped a vehicle for running a red light. It was determined the female driver was under the influence and she had a three-year-old child in the vehicle with her. She was arrested for felony child abuse and for driving while intoxicated. The child was released to a family member.

• On August 4, officers were dispatched to a commercial burglary in progress. Dispatch advised officers that the alarm company had live video of the offender inside the building. At that point officers established a perimeter. Officers saw the offender stepping out and then back into the business. A K-9 Unit was called, but before they arrived, the subject surrendered. He was taken into custody and charged with commercial burglary.

• On August 11, Officers Molina, Jones and Chafin were on their way in to start their shift when an electronic tracking system activation occurred. Officers Molina and Jones are trained on tracking devices placed in automobiles and bait items. When detectives arrived on scene, the officers already had the offender stopped. The offender was taken into custody and Auto Theft detectives and their sergeant expressed their gratitude for the assistance.

• On August 11, detectives assisted Northwest Impact detectives with a search warrant. Detectives recovered a travel trailer that had been stolen worth approximately $40,000. The travel trailer was returned to its owner.

• On August 12, officers were dispatched to a commercial burglary in progress. While officers were in route, they were given a description of the suspects and were advised they had exited the business and left the area. Officer Willsey located three suspects who matched the description of the offenders. They were taken into custody and a witness positively identified

them. The items taken from the victim were recovered and the suspects were booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.

• On August 14, officers were dispatched to a carjacking. The caller reported that two men robbed her at gun point and fled with her vehicle and her money. The victim was able to provide officers with a good description of her vehicle, the offenders and their vehicle. The victim also had her cellphone taken. Officer Molina gathered information on the cellphone and electronically tracked it. The tracking led officers to an apartment complex in the Northeast Area Command. Officers took the two subjects into custody along with two other accomplices. All subjects were confirmed to be involved and arrested and charged with armed robbery/carjacking and tampering with evidence.

• On August 17, officers were called to a residence where three stolen vehicles were recovered. Subjects were identified and arrested for several outstanding felony warrants and detectives from the Auto Theft Unit were contacted for follow-up investigation.

• On August 19, Sergeant Sanchez observed a stolen vehicle traveling in the wrong direction of traffic. He lost visual of the vehicle, but other officers arrived and began saturating the area where the vehicle was last seen. The vehicle was located unoccupied. Officers established a perimeter and Sergeant Sanchez provided a description of the vehicle’s occupants which was broadcasted over the air. Officer Jones located two subjects matching the description and they were detained. Officers found several inconsistencies with their stories and confirmed they were the subjects in the stolen vehicle. When Officer Jones searched one subject, he located approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine, various prescription drugs, marijuana, a digital scale and plastic bags. The subjects were taken into custody and booked. On subject was charged with receiving/transferring a stolen motor vehicle, trafficking a controlled substance and an outstanding felony warrant for auto theft.

• On August 20, officers were dispatched to a domestic violence call. The caller, a 14-year-old, stated his adult brother had kicked in his bedroom door and threatened him with a large kitchen knife. The caller also stated his brother had an outstanding felony warrant. The Real Time Crime Center advised the brother had a violent past. Officers established a perimeter

and took the brother into custody as he exited the rear door of the residence.

• On August 26, officers were dispatched to an auto burglary in progress at a car dealership. A security officer watching from an offsite station observed two males breaking into vehicles on the grounds. Officers arrived on scene and a perimeter was established around the business. Along with K-9 assistance, a search team comprised of Team 7 and Team 8 officers located and arrested the offenders.

• On August 27, detectives responded to a road rage call. The offenders, a male and female, fired shots at another couple and then fled the scene in a vehicle. Air support followed the vehicle, which eventually resulted in a foot chase with the male. He was taken into custody and a gun was recovered. The offenders were found to be in a stolen vehicle. Charges included aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence, conspiracy, aggravated eluding of law enforcement. The male was also charged with felon in possession of a firearm.

• On August 30, Officers Stuyvesant and Lucero were dispatched on a battery call where several subjects with skateboards had battered two victims. Upon arrival, Officer Stuyvesant observed two individuals matching the offender descriptions running northbound. After a short foot pursuit, both subjects were taken into custody. A third offender was later located in the area and also arrested. The offenders had jumped and battered the victims by hitting them in the head with their skateboards. All three offenders were arrested and booked for aggravated battery.

Southwest Area Command...• In August, the Southwest Area Command had

6,320 calls for service, wrote 1,204 reports and issued 284 citations. There were 81 felony arrests, 97 misdemeanor arrests, and 25 driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrests. Two community meetings were attended.

• On August 4, Officer Luchetti was alerted of an electronic tracking system (ETS) activation. Using his vehicle mounted equipment, Officer Luchetti successfully located the vehicle. One subject was taken into custody for auto theft and auto burglary.

• On August 7, officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle’s license plate was listed as stolen and it was occupied by two

subjects who were asleep. Officers made contact with the occupants and detained them. The license plate did not belong to the vehicle and after checking the vehicle identification number, it was discovered the vehicle was reported stolen. The two subjects were arrested for receiving and transferring stolen property.

• On August 8, Officer Garcia observed a vehicle matching the description of a reported stolen vehicle. The Texas plate on the vehicle was listed as stolen and officers conducted a felony traffic stop. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen and the male and female were arrested. The male had burglary tools and numerous credit cards and identifications in his possession. He also had equipment which appeared to be used to create counterfeit bills and print checks. The female was in possession of methamphetamine.

• On August 11, officers were dispatched to shots fired from a vehicle. Officer Navarro located the vehicle in the area and three suspects were taken into custody. Three weapons were also seized. The occupants were charged with shooting at/or from a motor vehicle.

• On August 13, Officers Alba and Romero stopped to assist a stranded motorist. After observing the damaged ignition switch, officers checked the vehicle identification number through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). The vehicle had been reported stolen. The driver was arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

• On August 14, Officer Arndt assisted Sergeant Napoleone with a suspicious vehicle in a convenience store parking lot. Contact was made with two occupants of the vehicle who had narcotics in plain sight. Both subjects were arrested on drug charges, two felony warrants and three misdemeanor warrants.

• On August 17, Sergeant Armijo and Officer Young were dispatched to a truck destroying the grounds at a local park. The offender caused more than $1,000 of damage to the park and surrounding area including driving from the scene and hitting more than one vehicle. The suspect fled the scene on foot but was apprehended a short time later.

• On August 19, Officers Bailey and Gabaldon were on a call at a local grocery store when they observed a juvenile walk into the store with no adult supervision and begin shopping. Officers asked the juvenile if he was alone. He replied that he was and his mother had sent him to the store because his uncle was having a medical

emergency. Officer Gabaldon stepped in and paid for the groceries and then transported the juvenile home. While at the house, officers discovered the family had no food or basic necessities. The Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) was called and they created a Crisis Safety Plan. Officer Bailey and CYFD went to the store and bought the family approximately $90 worth of cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products, pillows and food.

• On August 25, as part of an ongoing tactical plan, Officer Abbatantuono was patrolling a businesses and observed a male subject attempting to remove tires from a vehicle at a tire store. The male was arrested for tampering with a motor vehicle.

• On August 25, Officer Bailey was dispatched to a possible road rage incident. When she arrived, witnesses stated the vehicle was driving aggressively and motorists were in fear for their safety. Witnesses also stated, it appeared the driver attempted to run over a motorist that confronted him and sprayed the occupants of the motorist’s vehicle with mace. The driver was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

• On August 28, Officer Vallejos received an electronic tracking system activation. Officer Vallejos located the vehicle parked in a driveway. Officers Bailey and Madrid arrived to assist. As officers approached the vehicle, a male and female exited and were taken into custody. The pair was charged with receiving and transferring a stolen vehicle.

• On August 28, Officer Zwicky was dispatched on a suspicious vehicle call. Officer Zwicky approached the vehicle and observed a male walking away from it. The male was detained and it was determined the vehicle was stolen. Auto Theft detectives were contacted and took over case responsibility. Numerous stolen items were located in the vehicle.

• On August 30, members of Team 1 assisted in a protective sweep and an inspection of an apartment complex. This was a collaborated effort with all three shifts of the area command, the Safe City Strike Force, the Fire Marshal’s Office and other city entities to shut down the complex. Prior to the sweep, Officer Chavez patrolled the parking lot between calls. As a result of his patrols, Officer Chavez recovered two stolen vehicles.

• On August 30, Officer Romero assisted the Homicide Unit in taking a male and female

involved in a hit-and-run fatality into custody.• On August 31, Officer Hernandez and a driving

while intoxicated (DWI) officer contacted a male subject regarding a hit-and-run traffic accident. While arresting the male for DWI and leaving the scene of an accident, the male battered the DWI officer and was detained by Officer Hernandez. The male was charged with battery on a peace officer.

• In August, officers were dispatched to shots fired near a park. One officer observed a known gang member throw a firearm underneath a truck. A perimeter was established and with the help of K-9 officers, two males were taken into custody and a firearm matching the caliber and description from several shootings was recovered. The supposed leader of the gang was arrested on a felony warrant.

Northwest Area Command...• In August, the Northwest Area Command had

5,778 calls for service, wrote 897 reports and issued 585 citations. There were 50 felony arrests, 88 misdemeanor arrests, 23 driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrests and 28 felony and misdemeanor warrants issued. Seven community meetings were attended.

• On August 1, Sergeant Sanchez was on patrol when he conducted a check on a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was found to be stolen and a male driver and female passenger were placed under arrest. The driver was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle and the female for being in possession of narcotics. The subjects were also found to be involved in a series of armed robberies.

• On August 1, officers responded to a family fight where the son pointed a firearm at his mother. Officers took the male into custody and he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

• On August 1, Officer Brown responded to an auto burglary where the subject was detained by the alleged victims. The subject had committed the burglary the night before and was recorded by a cellphone. The offender was charged and booked for auto burglary.

• On August 5, officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute between a son and father. The son broke multiple items inside the residence with a baseball bat as well as the windows to his father’s car. The subject attacked a police officer before he was taken into custody. He was charged with battery on a police officer,

aggravated assault against a household member and criminal damage.

• On August 9, Recruit Officers Nakamura and Gomez responded to a crash where the offender left the scene of the accident. Officers located the vehicle and driver and a driving while under the influence investigation was conducted. Officer Nakamura found narcotics on the offender and he was booked for being in possession of heroin.

• On August 14, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex where a male subject was holding a rifle to his wife’s head. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim’s sister who stated she received a call from her sister that her husband was pointing a gun to her head and to call for police. Officers witnessed the male leave the apartment and begin driving from the scene. Officers stopped the vehicle and placed the driver in custody. Warrants were obtained and a rifle and several rounds of ammunition were recovered.

• On August 14, Officers Carr and Canales were dispatched to a priority one disturbance call. Several callers advised that a female who was not wearing pants was in a vehicle waving a gun in the air. When officers arrived, the female admitted to drinking and driving. Rescue arrived on scene and evaluated her and she was transported to the hospital. A criminal summons was issued for charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated, negligent use of a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, assault, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.

• On August 17, officers were conducting a tactical plan to address the issue of stolen vehicles in the area. Officers observed a stolen vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was arrested for being in possession of the stolen vehicle. The passenger fled on foot but was captured in a nearby retail store and arrested on a felony DWI warrant.

• On August 18, Officer McCormick was dispatched to a forgery in progress. Dispatch advised a female subject used a fraudulent check the day before and was in the process of using another fraudulent check. Officer McCormick arrived and placed her in custody. The female was arrested for fraud, forgery and possession of methamphetamine.

• On August 20, Officers Wharton and Ibarra responded to a subject in the backyard of an ex-girlfriend’s residence. This subject was

threatening suicide and causing disturbances. Officer Wharton coordinated the response and requested the assistance of the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC). With the help of the RTCC, the subject was identified and found to often fight with officers. Officers Wharton and Ibarra confronted the subject, de-escalated the situation and got the subject a mental health evaluation.

• On August 21, a call of vandalism to a vehicle at an apartment complex was received. A subject was seen vandalizing a vehicle in the parking lot and then damaging windows at a nearby commercial building. The suspect was booked on felony criminal damage to property charges.

• On August 27 and 28, Officers Aragon and Cerros conducted two tactical plans related to speeding and unsafe driving. Twenty-nine citations were issued in these two tactical plans.

• On August 28, officers took a driving while intoxicated (DWI) suspect into custody. He was transported to the Northwest substation for processing. While at the substation, the suspect head-butted an officer causing minor injuries. The suspect was also charged with battery on a police officer.

• In August, Officers Franklin and Jones conducted two traffic enforcement tactical plans. The first plan resulted in 32 moving citations and the second plan was conducted in the area of an elementary school with three citations issued.

• In the last week of August, officers from the Northwest Area Command responded to two separate high-profile and tragic homicide scenes involving children.

SPECIAL SERVICES BUREAUAPD Academy...• In August, the Recruiting and Selection Unit

received the following: 461 interest cards including 357 cadets, 64 public service aides (PSAs), 33 laterals and seven military certification by waiver.

• The August 5 - 8 testing consisted of 108 individuals scheduled to test; 20 attended city entrance; 19 attended Saturday testing and 18 were passed to background.

• The August 19-21 testing consisted of 161 individuals scheduled to test; 39 attended city entrance; 22 attended Saturday testing and 18 were passed to background.

• In August, 14 cadets were seated for the 117th Cadet class.

Special Operations Division... Tactical• In August, the K-9 Unit responded to 352 calls

for service and were called out 97 times. The K-9 Unit conducted 81 building searches and six area searches. The K-9 Unit responded to four SWAT activations and three other calls for assistance by department units.

• On August 2, K-9 officers assisted the Field Service Bureau with the apprehension of a male subject who stole multiple vehicles. The male subject was apprehended by a police service dog when his vehicle became disabled and he fled on foot.

• On August 3 and 4, the K-9 Unit conducted testing for one opening. Officer Lambert was selected to fill the opening and will transfer to the unit on September 3.

• On August 13, K-9 officers were called to search for a male subject who had committed a residential burglary. The subject fled on foot when officers attempted to apprehend him. The subject was located in the back yard of a residence and apprehended without injury.

• On August 19, K-9 officers responded to a male subject firing a handgun at a community center. Upon arrival, officers were advised multiple subjects related to the incident were hiding inside a residence. K-9 officers ensured a perimeter was established and began making public announcements. Four subjects exited the residence and were taken into custody.

• In August, SWAT had two activations and provided tactical assistance for three special events.

• On August 2, SWAT provided support for National Night Out. SWAT officers were made aware of the event locations and were strategically placed in parts of the city to respond for assistance if needed. The events went smoothly and no coordinated tactical response was needed.

• On August 6, SWAT officers were assigned to assist with the Summerfest event.

• On August 11, SWAT officers assisted in serving a search and arrest warrant for Narcotics detectives. SWAT assistance was requested due the history of the subject possessing a firearm and other individuals, including children, being in the residence. SWAT cleared and secured the residence. The suspect was taken into custody and the apartment was turned over to detectives.

• On August 16, the SWAT team was used for the vice presidential candidate’s visit to

Albuquerque. The Bomb Squad also provided pre-event sweeps and stand-by during the visit. The visit ran smoothly with the dignitary arriving and departing as scheduled.

• In August, the Bomb Squad responded to nine call-outs.

Office of Emergency Management... (OEM)...• In August, OEM attended public safety meetings

in preparation for the 2016 International Balloon Fiesta.

• On August 18, OEM provided a tour of the City’s Emergency Operations Center for representatives of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

• In August, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) had 20 volunteers donating 73 hours of service for the Department of Game and Fish Outdoor Expo and the Care-Net Women’s Walk for Life.

Open Space...• On August 1, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s

Office Deputies requested the assistance of Open Space officers in retrieving a body from a pond. This was a joint effort involving Open Space, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Albuquerque Fire Department’s Swift Water Team.

• On August 8, Search and Rescue (SAR) assisted the Bernalillo County Fire Department in the recovery of a body of a female victim who had fallen off a cliff in the Sandia Mountains. SAR rappelled down the cliff and recovered the victim. The Team utilized a Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) camera to document the scene and recovery for BCSO investigators.

• On August 14, SAR was requested to assist in the rescue of two climbers in the Sandia Mountains. One climber fell, striking a ledge which possibly broke his pelvis. The climbers were perched 350 feet above the ground and 600 feet from the top. SAR had just finished a week’s training on highly technical equipment which was needed for this rescue. This was a large scale operation that involved APD SAR, Albuquerque Mountain Rescue Council (AMRC), the Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Fire Departments, the State Police SAR coordinator and Cibola SAR. After approximately ten hours, the injured climber and his companion were recovered from the cliff ledge. The injured climber was airlifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital.

• On August 16, SAR assisted in the rescue of

two climbers trapped on a 600 foot cliff. One climber was hanging approximately 150 feet above the ground and the other on a cliff ledge approximately 350 feet above the ground. Due to the lightning in the area, two AMRC personnel quickly rappelled down utilizing two 600 foot ropes. A second team was sent to the bottom of the cliff in preparation for the two climbers being lowered to the ground below. The two rescue personnel and the two climbers safely rappelled to the ground. The one climber who was suspended for approximately three hours was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Horse Mounted Unit (HMU)... • On August 2, HMU participated in the National

Night Out at Quintessence Park. There were 50 to 60 citizens that interacted with the unit and gave appreciation cards.

• On August 6, HMU participated in the First Impressions Rodeo. There were several hundred citizens in attendance and the unit participated in the Grand Entry.

• On August 7, HMU participated in the Kutz 4 Kidz event located at the New Mexico State Fair Grounds. This was a large gathering of approximately 10,000 citizens.

• In August, HMU participated in other events including a news conference at the Northwest substation for a new multigenerational complex that will be located next to the substation, the Taylor Ranch Back to School event located at Mariposa Park and Special Olympics.

Homeland Security...• In August, Homeland Security officers assisted

with the planning of the 2016 Homeland Security and Emergency Management Conference. Homeland Security representatives attended the conference and facilitated a presentation by Lieutenant Altman titled “Officer and First Responder Safety during Mass Gathering/Protests – Lessons Learned”

• In August, Homeland Security officers continued to attend meetings and table top exercises with the Director of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in preparing the Incident Action Plan (IAP) for the 2016 International Balloon Fiesta.

• In August, Homeland Security officers continued to work with Army National Guard representatives in preparing for the Vigilant Guard operation scheduled for August 2017.

• In August, Homeland Security personnel facilitated and coordinated numerous Active Shooter Presentations to various organizations.

Metro Traffic Division...• In August, the Traffic Division responded to 455

calls for service.• In August, the division issued 1,214 moving

citations.• In August, the division wrote 259 reports, had

80 driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrests, 12 felony arrests, 24 misdemeanor arrests/warrants and issued two felony warrants.

• In August, the division investigated 216 crashes and investigated seven hit and run cases.

• In August, the DWI Seizure Unit checked in 80 vehicles, returned 13 vehicles, booted 23 vehicles and removed 12 boots.

• In August, 383 vehicles were on the seizure lot.• In August, 45 vehicles were auctioned bringing

in proceeds of $36,075.

Prisoner Transport Unit (PTU)...• In August, PTU processed 1,201 prisoners

through the Prisoner Transport Center. The Albuquerque Police Department arrested 893 prisoners and other outside law enforcement agencies arrested 308 prisoners.

• In August, PTU made 206 trips to the Metropoli-tan Detention Center and accepted eight walk-in prisoners at the Metropolitan Detention Center.

• In August, PTU worked four hospital guard duty assignments for a total of 26 days.

• In August, the Public Inebriation Intervention Program (PIIP) worked 22 days in the Valley and Southeast Area Commands generating 383 computer-aided dispatch (CAD) calls.

• In August, the PTU worked two tactical plans assisting Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explo-sives (ATF) and the New Mexico State Police. PTU transported 43 prisoners for these tactical plans.

Metro Court Protection Detail (MCPD)...• In August, 70 individuals were remanded by the

court and booked and one was remanded but bonded out on site.

• In August, 55 individuals were booked with arrest warrants. An additional 43 were booked with arrest warrants but bonded out on site.

• In August, 98 misdemeanors and 15 felony warrants were cleared.

• In August, 171 individuals were in police custody.

INVESTIGATIVE BUREAUScientific Evidence Division...• In August, the Major Crime Scene team

responded to seven call-outs. • In August, the Evidence, Identification and

Disposition Unit supported the following backgrounds: 57 case dispositions, 76 employment, 49 firearms, 74 FBI and 15 CODIS requests. The unit distributed 68 RAP’s and photos, finger printed 18 new APD applicants, classified 1,252 fingerprints in AFIS and processed 1,111 new and old arrests into APD’s criminal history records.

• In August, the Evidence, Identification and Disposition Unit received 11,740 evidence items, duplicated 6,901 audio/video recordings and supported 28 pretrial viewings. Efforts to reduce inventory resulted in 474 items returned to owners, 7,759 items disposed of and $1,052 received from auction proceeds. The Evidence Disposition Team coded 2,177 case disposition transactions into evidence history.

• The New Mexico DNA Identification System (NMDIS) received 671 new convicted offender/arrestee DNA samples for August with a cumulative total of over 113,370 collected. 470 samples were analyzed, uploaded and searched in CODIS with a cumulative total of over 106,470 searchable DNA profiles. As a result of these convicted offender/arrestee samples, 37 unsolved cases were matched to convicted offenders/arrestees and 15 case-to-case matches were made, with a resulting total of 64 investigations being aided.

• In August, the Controlled Substances Unit completed 77 drug cases (53 were APD and 24 were Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office).

• In August, the Biology Unit completed 15 APD cases and one BCSO case.

• In August, the Latent Fingerprint Unit completed eight APD cases.

• In August, the New Mexico DNA Identification System completed 671 new offender samples; the APD Crime Laboratory completed 11 forensic samples; and the Department of Public Safety Laboratory completed 78 forensic samples.

• In August, Major Crime Scene Investigations had six primary call-outs; eight secondary call-outs; completed six cases; and had 13 pending cases.

• In August, the Photography Unit had 469 requests for service resulting in 9,818 prints produced and 455 CDs duplicated.

• In August, the Evidence Unit received 10,596 APD and 1,144 BCSO items.

Property Crimes Division...Auto/NITe Unit ...• In August, the Auto Theft Unit had 32 cases

assigned to them; cleared 26 cases; completed six self-initiated felony arrests; completed 20 in-custody felony arrests; and completed two search/arrest warrants.

• In August, the Auto Theft Unit referred 21 cases to the District Attorney’s Office and has 22 active cases.

• In August, the Auto Theft Unit had 43 long-term and 13 scenario-based bait car deployments. There were four bait car arrests for the month.

• In August, the Auto Theft Unit recovered 23 stolen vehicles worth approximately $185,000.

• In August, the Auto Theft Unit conducted 140 free vehicle identification numbers (VIN) inspections and 26 free Level III VIN inspections to citizens who had been referred for a higher level of inspection than the State MVD could provide.

Burglary and Organized Crime Unit ...• In August, the Burglary Unit had 22 new cases

assigned to them; cleared 23 cases; sent 15 cases to the District Attorney’s Office; cleared 17 cases by arrest; completed 12 felony arrests; and recovered items valued at $16,000.

• In August, Detective Jojola investigated a commercial burglary in which over $9,000 worth of furniture and artwork was stolen. Surveillance video led to the identification of the suspect and detectives observed the artwork hanging in plain view along the suspect’s front porch. A search warrant was completed and all the stolen property was recovered and returned. The suspect was booked.

• In August, Detective Jojola investigated a suspect for a string of commercial, residential and auto burglaries in the Southeast and Southwest Area Commands. The suspect was identified through surveillance video and blood evidence found on scene. The suspect was taken into custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center and subsequently released. After his release, he once again burglarized the same commercial business for which he was

taken into custody. Detective Jojola wrote an additional warrant for his arrest.

• In August, Detective Moore arrested two subjects for a residential burglary and obtained an arrest warrant for a third subject. The vehicle that was used during the burglary was sealed and towed to a secured facility pending a search warrant. Detective Moore obtained and executed a search warrant and recovered a jewelry box which was returned to the rightful owner.

• In August, Detective Santistevan arrested a suspect for a residential burglary and obtained a search warrant for his vehicle. While conducting the search warrant, several stolen items were located along with a stolen firearm. The items were returned to the rightful owners and the suspect was booked into Metropolitan Detention Center.

• In August, Detective Candelaria arrested a subject who had recently stolen the identities of multiple victims and used the stolen identities to embezzle motor vehicles and tractors. The suspect embezzled a tractor valued at over $25,000. The tractor was returned to its rightful owner and the subject was arrested and his probation was revoked from Sandoval County.

• In August, Detective Candelaria worked with outside organizations involving a subject who fraudulently deposited $15,200 into various bank accounts using forged checks and then would withdraw the funds. An arrest warrant was obtained for the subject and the case was sent to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

• In August, the Pawn Shop and Metal Theft Unit had four felony and one misdemeanor arrests; cleared 13 cases and recovered 34 pawn items and three firearms totaling $17,500.

• On August 4, Pawn Shop and Metal Theft Unit worked a joint operation with Central Narcotics regarding numerous complaints of illegal activity in downtown hot spots. In addition, the units sought the assistance of the Community and Outreach Support Team (COAST) to provide resources for subjects who could benefit from their assistance. There were five felony arrests and four warrants cleared during the operation. COAST provided assistance to three subjects during the operation.

• In August, Detective Santistevan completed an investigation into a group of individuals stealing items and selling them at local pawn shops. In all, four subjects were arrested and over $15,000 worth of stolen items returned. This particular ring now appears disabled and their theft and

fencing activities have ceased.• On August 30, the Pawn Unit met with City

Legal on the City ordinance regarding the pawn process. At this time, new notices of violations have been created and a new process for conducting pawn inspections has been established. This will reduce confusion and allow for tougher violation penalties regarding pawnshops found non-compliant. The city ordinance is almost complete and will allow detectives to issue citations for pawn revocation hearings.

Criminal Investigations Division...• The total number of Uniform Crime Reporting

(UCR) homicides in Albuquerque through the end of August are 48.

• In August, the Homicide Unit responded to six call-outs and has 46 active cases.

• In August, the Armed Robbery Unit responded to 12 call-outs and cleared 35 cases. Thirty of these cases were submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

• In August, the Armed Robbery Unit made seven in-custody arrests and wrote seven arrest warrants.

• In August, the Armed Robbery Unit had 48 new cases for a total of 151 active cases.

• In August, the Sex Crimes Unit responded to two sex crime call-outs They also cleared 27 cases with ten of those going to the District Attorney’s Office. The unit also wrote 12 search warrants. There were 29 new cases assigned for investigation in August. The unit currently has 113 active cases.

• In August, Family Abuse Stalking/Training Team (FASST) had 13 new cases assigned to them. All 13 cases were cleared. They currently have two open cases.

• In August, FASTT reviewed 128 domestic violence reports.

• In August, FASTT assisted the Homicide Unit with two call-outs.

• In August, the Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU) provided 133 hours of training and conducted 67.5 meeting hours. The unit contacted 215 individuals and assisted 38 mental health consumers with services. They provided 126 referrals for services and received 58 referrals.

• In August, the Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST) took 41 calls for service and was assigned 16 cases. The unit completed 56 home visits with mental health clinicians and wrote seven pick up orders.

• As of August, there are 459 officers in the field, including sergeants and lieutenants that are certified in Crisis Intervention Training (CIT). This represents 98% of the officers in the field.

• CIU continues to work on developing curriculum and policy for enhanced crisis intervention training. The unit has met with the Mental Health Response Advisory Committee (MHRAC) to review and provide input for curriculum development, police training and policy. The curriculum has been submitted to MHRAC and the federal monitor for approval. Training dates in October and November have been scheduled.

• On August 14, Detective Sullivan received a call regarding an individual in crisis and making threats of “taking cops out” to avoid going to jail. The individual fled the scene prior to officer arrival. With the help of the family and Crisis Outreach Clinician Oberman, telephone contact was made with the individual and he was convinced to voluntarily go to the hospital for an emergency psychiatric evaluation. The individual’s father and step mother contacted Detective Sullivan expressing their gratitude for her assistance.

• In August, CIU received a referral on a 91-year-old individual who fired a weapon at his health caregiver. The CIU unit went to the residence and found the individual sitting in a chair unarmed. The individual stated he believed he saw an intruder inside his residence and, after yelling at him and getting no response, fired several shots into the air to scare him off. Bullet holes in the roof and stove were observed. The individual was interviewed by a crisis outreach clinician and then transported to the Veterans Administration hospital for an evaluation. Prior to leaving, detectives also secured five firearms.

• In August, the unit assisted a working single mother of three small children in getting rental assistance. The mother had fallen ill and was hospitalized and unable to work her full time job. Through a service provider, the family’s rent got paid for August. The mother was also approved for Section 8 housing assistance.

• The Crimes Against Children Unit (CACU)/Child Exploitation Detail (CED) received 1,000 referrals from the Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) for review.

• CACU/CED responded to 50 call-outs and executed five search warrants.

• The Sex Offender Registry Detail (SORD) conducted 86 address verifications on offenders

including photographs of their vehicles and residences to add to the database.

Special Investigations Division (SID)...• In August, SID had 16 felony and three

misdemeanor arrests.• In August, SID made ten controlled buys and 28

buy busts.• In August, SID had 14 call-outs for APD.• In August, SID submitted nine cases to the

District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. • In August, SID seized 11 pounds of marijuana;

eight grams of methamphetamine; 371 grams of cocaine; 13 grams of heroin; and 32 grams of prescription drugs.

• On August 8, Air5 was dispatched to a vehicle that was taken by gun point. Air5 was advised that the owner had activated a GPS on a device inside the vehicle before it was taken. Air5 received GPS updates and located a vehicle matching the description in southeast Albuquerque. Air5 followed the vehicle and directed the K-9 Unit to its location once it stopped. The K-9 Unit took the offender into custody and a gun was located a short distance from the vehicle.

• On August 10, Air5 assisted federal agents with the execution of a search/arrest warrant. Upon arrival, Air5 observed activity in the backyard. It appeared subjects were working on a vehicle partially covered by a tarp. Once the execution of the warrant began, Air5 observed a male subject running from the location. Air5 directed ground units to a roof where the subject was laying down in an attempt to conceal himself. The subject was identified as the target offender and taken into custody.

• On August 27, the Air Support Unit hosted three Federal Aviation Administration sponsored classes at the Double Eagle Airport. The classes allowed for personal contact with approximately 150 citizens and pilots. The classes included Flying in Remote Areas of New Mexico, The Aging Pilot (Medical Issues) and an update on new requirements in the approaching months.

• On August 31, Air5 assisted field units in locating a stolen vehicle. Once field units arrived, the stolen vehicle fled through residential side streets. Air5 conducted a tactical follow until the vehicle parked at an apartment complex. Once parked, a subject ran from the vehicle. Air5 called out his direction of travel which allowed field units to take the subject into custody. The stolen vehicle was recovered.

• In August, the Central Narcotics Unit served three search warrants, recovered two firearms and conducted four undercover buy bust operations. The Central Narcotics Unit conducted operations with the Organized Crime Unit, the Community Outreach and Support Team (COAST) and oversaw the CONNECT HOSPITALITY partnership meeting.

• On August 4, the Central Narcotics and Organized Crime Units, after receiving numerous complaints of street level drug dealing, conducted multiple undercover operations in the downtown area with the assistance of COAST. The results of the operation were five felony arrests for drug trafficking and four felony warrants cleared. COAST provided services to three individuals contacted in the operations.

• On August 23, the Central Narcotics Unit, with the assistance of Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Task Force officers served a search warrant. Two subjects were arrested for felony narcotics charges and two outstanding arrest warrants were cleared. Methamphetamine was seized during the service of the warrant.

• On August 30, Central Narcotics detectives located a known heroin and methamphetamine dealer. Detectives observed the subject conduct a hand-to-hand drug transaction in the Southeast Area Command. Detectives followed the subject to the South Valley where he was apprehended without incident. Detectives located a handgun and drugs which included methamphetamine, heroin and Xanax. The subject was arrested for several counts of drug trafficking. He has a criminal history of narcotics trafficking and aggravated battery.

Real Time Crime Center (RTCC)...• In August, RTCC Bridge Live Operations

assisted in providing information and creating workups on individuals involved in two SWAT call-outs. Live Operations was able to identify subjects, their criminal histories, possible associated subjects, cautions needed for field personnel and the subject’s possible mental states. They also assisted field personnel with additional social media reviews.

• Bridge personnel provided assistance for “National Night Out” and Vice-Presidential candidate Pence’s visit. Live Operations provided video assistance in order to observe and identify any suspicious activity.

• Live operations worked in partnership with a

local hospital which granted RTCC access to their video network.

• In August, the Crime Analysis Unit responded to 36 requests from officers and detectives for analysis on cases.

PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY BUREAUCommunications Division...• In August, the APD Emergency Communications

Center staff answered 86,983 incoming calls. There were 36,170 calls answered for 911 and 50,813 calls answered for 242-COPS. 911 Operators answered 86.93% of the 911 calls within 10 seconds (national standard is 90%, APD’s standard is 92.0%); operators also answered 90.55% of the 242-COPS calls within 90 seconds (APD’s goal is 90% answered within 90 seconds).

• In comparison to last year for August, 911 call volume decreased by 4.9% and 242-COPS call volume increased by .9%. This represents an overall decrease of 1.6%.

• In August, the communications manager, three supervisors and a dispatcher attended the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials convention. The convention offered specialized training on upcoming technologies, the latest management and workforce techniques, best practices and introduced attendees to other professionals facing similar challenges in the industry.

• On August 12, a tour was conducted for field inspectors from the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission). The Emergency Operations Center and the Albuquerque Fire Department participated in a presentation and the respective tours of their areas of responsibility.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT BUREAUPlanning Division...• In August, the Grants Management Unit began

the year-end process which included closing out expired grants and preparing grants for reporting of expenditures for the annual City audit.

• The new management analyst in the Grants Management Unit completed training with the City’s Purchasing Division on procedures and contract tracking system.

• In August, the Planning Manager sat in an interview committee to hire a quality assurance

auditor.• In August, the Planning Manager continued

to work with the Municipal Development Department in procuring police vehicles, renovations and improvements to existing APD facilities and site options for the Southeast Area Command and the DWI Seizure Unit.

Central Records Division...• In August, the Public Information Unit received

1,242 requests totaling $9,161 in revenue generated from citizen requests/registers.

• In August, the Report Review Unit completed the following: 2,325 Automated Reporting System (ARS) transfers, 1,084 ARS supplements, 1,569 National Crime Information Center entries, 1,676 accidents, 2,834 officer calls and 817 Unified Crime Reports (UCR).

• In August, Court Services completed the following: 69 pretrial hearings scheduled, 362 arraignments processed, 392 felony cases submitted to the District Attorney’s Office and 557 summonses submitted to the Metropolitan

Court.• In August, the False Alarm Reduction Unit

collected $129,700 in fees and fines for a total of $233,583 for the fiscal year. The unit entered 697 new accounts and mailed 14,466 pieces of correspondence. There were 1,448 false alarms which was a decrease of 6.8% from this same month last year which was 1,553.

• In August, the Telephone Report Unit generated 765 original reports and 170 supplemental reports for a total of 935. This resulted in a savings of 2,431 hours of field services time and a savings of $37,400.

• In August, the Telephone Report Unit processed 668 on-line (Cop Logic) reports resulting in a savings of 1,737 hours of field services time and a savings of $26,720.

• In August, the Inspection of Public Records (IPRA) received 152 requests, completed 133 requests, and collected $2,934 in revenue.

• In August, the Inspection of Public Records (IPRA) billed 26 IPRA requests for a total of $349.
