AT THE BEACH

On Tuesday for Year 5 camp we went to the beach We all were split up into three groups to play some games I was in group two There were three games Blindfolded Relays Howzat and A to B

The first game group two played was Blindfolded Relays It was where two people would go out onto the track and one person was blindfolded and the other was a guide The person who was blindfolded had a baton and had to run to the cone (blindfolded) and back They had to hand it to the next blindfolded person The first team to go out twice and sit down was the winner The tricky thing was that the guide could not touch the blindfolded person only give verbal directions

Game two was called Howzat It was similar to cricket except you just had to throw a ball at the stumps If you hit the wicket you had to yell out lsquoHowzatrsquo

The last game we played was my favourite game It was called A to B There was a stick placed horizontally on the sand You had to dig a hole under it but you could only dig from one side ndash Point A Your whole team had to crawl under the stick to get to Point B If you touched the stick everyone in the team had to run down to the water then back and start again

I had a really enjoyable time at camp and I am looking forward to Year 6 camp next year Nick 5PH

Wednesday 29 November is our annual swim carnival being held at the Albany Creek leisure centre Permission forms with all of the details were sent home last week and are due tomorrow (22 November) It is important that these permission forms are returned by this date so the PE department can organise the program If you have misplaced the permission form a copy is available on our school website

RUNNING CLUB

This Wednesday will be our final running club for the year due to swim carnival and end of year procedures I want to thank all of the wonderful children and parents that have shown up to make our mornings so much fun I know that I have made you work hard but we have seen some excellent results and a lot of personal bests as a result of your great attitude

I strongly encourage you all to continue doing your running through the holidays and if you are super keen maybe participate in one of the free ParkRuns around your community We will be back on the track very early in Term 1 as we need to select our final team for representative cross country in 2018 Mr Gason PE Teacher

LIBRARY BAGS

All students need to bring a library bag to protect the books If you donrsquot already have one the school library bag is available from the PampC Uniform shop No matter what age your child is water bottles still leak items are jammed in bags quickly and it will invariably rain at 300 pm as theyrsquore heading home Please make sure your child has a bag to protect the books Itrsquos a great idea to put an easily identifiable key ring tag or ribbon on their bag as they are so similar they are often mixed up

SEEKING DONATIONS

As there will be no more plastic bags next year we would like to get a collection of second hand bags at the library so we can lend them out on a temporary basis instead of the plastic bags that we currently reuse now So if you are leaving the school and donrsquot have plans for your childrsquos library bag when they finish please ask them to bring it to the library after this week when borrowing is finished for the year

I was walking down the street

Minding my own business as the birds give a tweet

The loud echo goes bouncing down the street

As I walk with the beat

The cars give a hoot and the cows give a moo

As I walk on the highway

Past the farm
