    Introduction

    An alarm history page is used to log the status of alarms that have occurred during a process.

    The purpose of this document is to allow the user to set up an Alarm History page on the GOT1155. The same procedure can be applied to other terminals in the GOT 1000 range. Thealarm history object can then be altered according to the customers requirements.

    Equipment

    For the purpose of this example we will be using the following:GT1155QSBD with OS version: 03.10.00FX3U PLC with Communication driver version: 03.10.00GT Designer Version 2.73GT01-C10R4-HP Communications cable between FX and GOT

    Hardware Layout

    Method

    The page will log basic information regarding active an inactive alarms. The alarms will begenerated using M coils in the PLC.

    RS422 connection using between programmingport of FX3U and 442 port of GOT

    We will start by creating project on the GT1155. Details of building a project and screencreation and connection can be found in the GT Designer 2 Version 2 User and ScreenDesign Manuals.

    1. Creating Alarm Messages

    Follow the procedure below in order

    a. Within the Project Manager window, select and highlight Comment.

    b. By right-clicking, select New Comment Group

    This can also be done by selecting the following icon on the tool-bar:

    c. Give the group a name and click OK

    d. Another window will appear with the cursor already flashing in the comment naming area.Enter the comment (alarm) name.

    Enter more comments by selecting the New Comment button.

    When finished close the window

    Note:The comments can be re-edited by clicking on the Group name of the Comment folder. E.g. If

    we were to edit we would simply click on Alarrm Tests

    The alarm messages have now been saved.

    a. From the tool bar select the Alarm History object.

    b. Place the object on the screen

    The edit screen will look as the screen below. Alterations of the alarm page can be made herefor example the size or number of rows that are to be displayed. Details can be found in theScreen Design Manual. It can be noted that the fields correspond to the alarm screen on theprevious page. These can be selected and unselected simply by ticking the tick-boxesassigned to them.

    To organise the screen in a way that is easier to understand tow of the default values havebeen altered, highlighted by the red circles.

    1. Sort Setting has been changed from Oldest to Latest; therefore having the very latestalarm on the top of the alarm list.2. Date format under the Occurred column to the UK format of dd/mm/yy

    3. To Assign Alarm Messages to Alarm Activation Devices

    a. Select the Device (Common) tab

    The window above will appear.

    b. From this window select: Historical; 4 for Number of alarms to monitor; Using thedrop down list select Base Screen.

    c. The devices can then be entered as shown below

    The devices are matched up to internal bits in the PLC, M coils. They can also beassigned to Xs or Ys etc.

    The individual devices can be altered by clicking in the entry box and changing the device.

    d. On the Comment section, on the option for Comment Type select Comment Group.Our comments will automatically be assigned to the devices that will drive the alarmmessage.

    e. The Comment selection can be altered to suit the driving device by clicking in theentry box and using the drop-down list to select the correct alarm message.

    Once the correct devices have been assigned to the correct alarm messages click OK.

    4. Navigation Keypad

    To navigate through the alarm list, to delete from the list, and to acknowledge the alarms arefunctions that are commonly used when working with the alarms. As this is alarm page isshowing historical alarms it is also necessary for the user to be able to scroll and look at thehistorical alarms. This requires a set of dedicated functions keys to allow the user to operatethe alarm page. A keypad such as the one below can be used for this purpose.

    The keypad is a readymade function keypad found in the following area. In GT Designerselect the Library Tab of the Project Manager (Usually found in the left hand side of thescreen).

    From the list of folders select the AV folder. Then select the AV Alarm Key subfolder. This willexpand even further into a set of keypads which can be used. This above keypad is the16ALM02_B keypad. This keypad can then be copied and pasted onto the alarm page.

    Tip: The keypad can be ungrouped and altered to suit application

    Explanations of some of the functions are below:- Cursor On /Cursor Off: Allows navigation and selection of the individual historical alarms,only then can we use the rest of the function.- Up/ Down: Scrolls up and down.- Check/Check All: Acknowledges the alarms- Delete/ Delete All: Deletes the alarms.

    Download into the GOT.

    Restart GOT

    Test by forcing the M coils on from with in the PLC and the corresponding alarm message withtime and date stamps will appear will be displayed.

    Test the keypad to acknowledge or delete alarms
