" WHILE SOME DERMATOLOGISTS maintain that people with oily skin do not need moisturizers at all, others say they
do . Amy Newburger, M.D ., a New York dennatologist, advises, "People with oily skin do benefit from a moisturizer. It enhances the barrier function of the skin , it makes makeup easier to apply, and it acts as a vehicle for sunscreen ." New York City dennatologist Alan Kling, M.D., suggests that if you want to use a moisturizer , use a water-based or oilfree preparation.
When choosing a moisturizer for oily skin , look for prod-. ucts labeled noncomedogenic to prevent blackheads . Select a lightweight formulation, and make sure oil doesn't appear as one of the first few ingredients . Here are lists of ingredients to avoid and ones that are acceptable .
