Here are some images from two fo the most famous Surrelist artists – Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte.
Pay particular attention to the characteristics of Surrealism in each artwork – dislocation, substitution,
levitation, transformation, and scale changes. You will be using dislocation and prmarily substitution
in your artwork. Please be sure to read the Introductory Notes on your assigment and Surrealism! They will make
these images a little more understandable!

The translation of the French title is This is Not a Pipe. Well it is obviously a pipie, but Magritte wanted to call attention to the fact that even tpough it is an expertly painted realistic and three-dimensional looking object, it is an optical illusion, for it is still a two-dimensioanl painting on a flat canvas.
