Experience : Oil well drilling/directional drilling with following experience

August 2012 to 31 January 2015

Executive Director- Coal Bed Methane Development Project of ONGC at Bokaro from 7th August 2012 to 31st January 2015, a project manager’s job for CBM development in India for 2 ½ years.

June 2010 - July 2012: (ONGC, Mumbai)

Executive Director-Chief Deep Water drilling Group- Looked after Deep Water Exploratory drilling operations of ONGC. Job involved hiring, operations monitoring & supervision of Deep Water drilling rigs of rigs DDKG1, DSS, Platinum Explorer, MG Hume Jr and ONGC departmental rigs Sagar Bhushan and Sagar Vijay. It also involved hiring of integrated services to run the operations and contract management for rigs and services.

April 2007 – May 2010: (ONGC, Mumbai & ONGC Assam)

1

GGM-Head-Corporate Drilling Services- worked as Technical Expert of Drilling Services for all over ONGC. Worked as Head of Drilling Services, Assam (ONGC Onshore Field) and managed operations of 18 rigs. Introduced Horizontal Drilling and completed drilling of 16 Deep wells in the area including 6 Horizontal wells. Managed operations of rigs Hercules 258 & Hercules 260 at Mumbai.

August 2002 – March 2007 : ( ONGC Mumbai)

General Manager Drilling - I/c High Tech Wells -- Headed directional drilling section and Looked after Directional, Horizontal, Multilateral, Extended Reach Drilling operations of ONGC Mumbai , 10-14 rigs operations at a time and 80-90 wells in an year involving all methods of Horizontal Drilling (short, medium & long radius). Introduced Multilateral drilling in ONGC for better productivity. Introduced whip stock and short radius drilling for sick well revivals. Introduced Rotary steerable systems for enhancing performance of drilling of ERD wells. Due to new inductions of whipstocks, short radius tools and Rotary Steerable System, there was a technological revolution in Mumbai Offshore and all wells ( new or sidetracks) were transformed from directional to horizontal. ERD wells of more than 3.5 to 4 Km departures drilled which were not possible earlier. Drilling Time of wells reduced to 50% with the use of Rotary Steerables. Whipstocks with short radius tools emerged as new technology for sick well revivals. Drilling of horizontal laterals were made possible in all layers of Mumbai High (a technology breakthrough) enabling increased production and improving recovery factor.

Hired services of MWD, Steerable motors, Whipstocks, Rotary Steerables, Slim hole tools required for operations. Prepared technical specifications, evaluated bids, participated in committee for award of contracts, managed contracts & work execution.

November 1999 – July 2002 : (ONGC Mumbai )

Study of technology of under balanced drilling, coil tubing drilling and multilateral drilling in onshore ONGC. Operations In-charge for 5 offshore rigs, namely, Sagar Kiran, Sagar Uday, Hitdrill, Trident-2 and Pride Pensilvaniya. Carried out drilling of new wells, sidetrack wells and workover in old wells. Officiated Location Manager position.

May 1996 – October 2000 : (ONGC Mumbai)

2

Directional Drilling Operations Manager of ONGC- Responsible for managing directional / horizontal / multilateral drilling operations on 6-8 offshore rigs throughout the year (35-40 wells). Drain holes lengths increased from 400 m to 1000 m. Horizontal departure of 2 Km achieved . Complications in old ERD wells liquidated. Multilateral drilling introduced in Heera Field, by drilling 2 laterals in wells HR-11 & HR-12, first time in ONGC. Horizontal drilling introduced in A-1 layer of L3 reservoir of Mumbai high. Co-ordinated drilling of 2 relief wells for extinguishing fire on 2 blowing wells (B-121 C&D) of Mumbai Offshore, an example of directional excellence & team work.

June 1990 – April 1996 : (IDT, Dehradun)

Institute of Drilling Technology, Dehradun, : worked as Project leader on 7 R&D Projects pertaining to directional and horizontal drilling. Delivered lectures to trainees. Provided technical back-up services to rigs as and when required. Associated with drilling of horizontal wells of Mehsana and ERD wells of Mumbai.

July 1987 – May 1990 : (Tripura Project, Agartala)

Tripura Project, Agartala : Driller In-charge of rig 3DM-2. : Drilled 5 exploratory high pressure wells. Sidetracked one well in 10 M gap in Agartala dome area and saved well from abandonment. Sidetracked one well in Bengal Offshore on rig Hakuria 9.

Sept 1980 – June 1987 : (ONGC Mumbai)

Joined on 3rd Sept 1980 as a Driller(D) --- Job involved Directional Drilling Operation on offshore rigs. Received on the job training from directional drillers of ONGC & M/s. Eastman Whipstocks. Drilled independently 50 directional wells. Problem solving, difficult directional drilling operations. Worked in team of Directional Drillers and introduced horizontal drilling in ONGC in association of M/sHorwell, France. Completed first 2 horizontal wells, NR1-H & NS-H in Mumbai Offshore to increase production from the field.
