BEST OF BREED COMPETITION

Non-Regular Classes . . . Involving Multiple Dog Entries Stud Dog Class Brood Bitch Class Brace Class

Note . . . As the judge's decisions in the Non-Regular Classes involving Multiple Entries are based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in these classes will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won these classes.

Stud Dog Class: For a Stud Dog and two of his get. It is not necessary that the Get be under the same ownership as that of the Stud Dog. The Get must be entered in one of the Regular or Non-Regular Classes (other than Stud Dog). The Stud Dog is to be shown in the ring with the Get, but the class is to be judged based on the merits of the Get; while the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy, or the standard for the breed.

Brood Bitch Class: Same as above except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog & Produce for Get.

Brace Class: Two dogs, not necessarily of the same sex, with identical ownership. The dogs comprising a Brace must be named at time of entry. If a dog which is to be part of a Brace is not entered in another class, it must be entered for 'Brace class Only'. In making entries for 'Brace Only', full particulars must be given for each dog on individual regular entry forms. An entry for a dog entered in another class and entered as part of a Brace MUST be marked accordingly in the space for Additional Classes 'Brace Class'. If more than one Brace is entered by the same owner, the dogs comprising each brace must be so designated, 'Brace f 1'. "Brace #2', etc.

Award of Merit: Capital Keeshond Club, Inc. offers Light Blue & Silver Rosettes for Award of Merit, up to 10% (rounded up) of entrants in Best of Breed Competition, at the judge’s discretion to recognize special merit… excluding the Best of Breed winner and Best of Opposite Sex winner.

Select Awards: Keeshond Club of America, Inc. Offers up to ten Dark Blue & Light Blue Rosettes to those dogs in Best of Breed Competition; at the judge’s discretion, to recognize special merit ….. excluding the Best of Breed winner and Best of Opposite Sex winner.

KCA MATURITY STAKES Keeshond Club of America National Specialty . . . Only

THESE MATURITY STAKES ARE SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING RULES:

1. The Maturity will be held in conjunction with, but separate from, the Annual Specialty. 2. a. The Maturity Stakes will be open only to dogs and bitches that were entered in the prior year's

Futurity Stakes held in conjunction with the Annual Specialty. The dogs/bitches did not necessarily have to be shown, but must have been entered in the Futurity Stakes at the show. Example: To be eligible to compete in the 1996 Maturity, a dog must have been eligible for the 1995 Futurity and actually entered in the 1995 Futurity competition, but need not have been exhibited there.

b. The judge of the current year’s Futurity may maintain eligibility in next year’s Maturity for dogs otherwise eligible for the Futurity by making a written request to the Futurity Chairperson and paying all applicable fees in lieu of entering a dog in the show they are scheduled to judge. Example: The ’95 Futurity judge is Susie Jones. Susie has a litter futurity nominated for that year, but will not show the puppies because she is judging. If you don’t say you are with the shows, the hotel will appear booked as we have all the rooms on hold for this event. Reservations must be made by March 17, 2002 in order to receive this special room rate. Check-in is 3 pm.

Special Considerations . . .

• All reservations will be held after 6:00 PM and guaranteed for late arrival only if accompanied by a first night room deposit or guaranteed to a major credit card. Check in time is 3pm. Reservations must be cancelled 5 days prior to arrival date to avoid being charged a cancellation penalty.

• No more than four (4) dogs per room.

• Grooming of dogs IS allowed in the rooms. Bathing of dogs is NOT allowed in the rooms. If you wish to groom in a general area, reserved, tented grooming outside will be available for you to reserve. While this space is free if you reserve by March 27, 2002, you will need to make sure you reserve space if you intend to groom under the tents. There is NO general crating area.

• Dogs must be crated at all times when in the sleeping rooms.

• Plastic must be placed under each crate for the duration of the stay. This will be provided in the hospitality bags, so please stop by & pick up your bag prior to setting up your crates.

• The CKC/KCA Show Committee reserves the right to inspect any guest room at any time. If you should have any problems or questions when making your hotel reservations,
