Guilin airport is the nearest airport from Yangshuo city,

there is no airplanes that you can fly from Canada to the

airport the choice is that you must fly to Beijing or

shanghai first and transition to the Guilin airport.

TrainsChina has really developed train system, you can just go to

Guilin and then go to Yangshuo city by train easily and cost

less than 200 RMB. There will be a yangshuo tarin station.

BusBy far the easiest way to get from Guilin airport to

Yangshuo is by taxi. Expect to pay between ¥300-490

depending on the vehicle, and depending on whether you

take the G65 highway (additional ¥30 for toll fees but

saves about 20 minutes) or the main road

through Guilin center. Note that taking the highway is

faster, more scenic, less bumpy and better for your blood

pressure as you will not have to watch as your driver plays

chicken with oncoming traffic while passing all the

transport trucks moving at 40km/h on the regular road.

Li river

Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbishan) is the landmark of Guilin. Located in Elephant Hill Scenic Area (Xiangshan Park) at the confluence of Taohua River and Li River, it has been a famous tourism destination since the Tang Dynasty(618 – 907). The hill looks like a giant elephant drinking water from the river. There are not only many spectacular natural scenes around

the hill, but also some ancient constructions, such as Puxian Pagoda, Yunfeng Temple, and Sarira Dagoba.

Transition in Yangshuo

There is no airport in this town. But the high speed trains have connected it with Guilin, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Besides, buses to Guilin, Guangzhou, Nanning, Shenzhen, and Xingping Town are available at the local bus station. Those traveling by air can transfer from Guilin, where you can choose a Li River cruise or

take a train or bus to Yangshuo. City-bus and motor tricycles operate within the county. Cycling and hiking are good choices to view the idyllic countryside scenery. Compared to public buses in other cities, those in the county are mainly battery cars. It is easy to flag down it along the street, and the ticket is CNY1-3 according to the distance. Beer Fish (Pijiu Yu)This dish is probably the most symbolic dish of Yangshuo. Live carp from the Li River is fried with its scales and is then stewed after several seasonings such as local beer, chili, agarics and tomatoes are added. The dish not only looks attractive, but also tastes fresh and tender with a hint of spiciness, yet remains a little sweet.

Niang DishesNiang is a traditional yet unique cooking method of combining various ingredients for stuffing (usually consisting of meat or egg) into a type of carrier (made of vegetables or bean products), then braising, boiling or frying them together. There are 32 varieties of Niang dishes, among which the most delicious is the Tianluo Niang. Select some river snails, cut the tails and take out the meat. Then put the meat into the shells together with other seasonings such as ginger, mint and pork. Finally stir-fry them together. This dish smells savory and tastes smooth, refreshing and satisfying.

Lipu KourouThis dish is made using the taros from Lipu (a small county of Guangxi Province, streaky pork and other spices. Fry the taros and streaky pork in the oil separately and place them alternately in a bowl, then braise them

together. After both the taros and pork are cooked, reverse the bowls and leave them lying on a plate. In Chinese, Kou just means 'reverse', hence the name of the dish. The dish always has a golden color and tastes fluffy and tender but not greasy.

Green Lotus Hotel-585 CNY per dayCheck-in and out was quick. Room and bed were comfortable enough. No hair dryer provided. Good breakfast options, both Asian and western. The hotel is about a ten-minute walk from West Street, a pedestrian shopping area with many stores and restaurants catering both to Chinese and Western tourists. The hotel has its own restaurant as well, which provided an excellent meal to our group of twelve.
