Newsletter Date 12th November 2020 Principal - Geoff Saunders Airdale Primary School Phone: 86 323748 Fax: 86 325096 [email protected] PUPIL FREE DAY Our last Pupil Free Day for this year will be held next MONDAY 16 th NOVEMBER. On this day staff will be reviewing our Site Improvement Plan and seng new targets for 2021. We will also establish our classes for 2021 and allocate teachers and students to these classes. In the aſternoon, Eden Williamson- Cameron from the Australian Childhood Foundaon will return to work with staff on developing a whole school approach to working with students who have experienced/are experiencing trauma in their lives. Mr. Daniel Seidel, our new Principal, will also be joining us on this day. CONCERT Leers will go home next Monday which will explain the token system we will be using for Parents/Carers to aend the Concert this year. While the performance will be held over 2 nights, we are only allowed to have 120 adults in the Gym at one me. Therefore Parents/Carers will have to choose which night they wish to aend. Once you have read the instrucons in the leer, if you have any queries, please contact me at the school. OSHC/VACATION CARE Unfortunately, due to ill health, Maxine Armit has tendered her resignaon from the posion of Director of this service. Maxine has been running this programme for some 24 years and has provided outstanding service to the general community in Port Pirie during this me and her loss will certainly be felt by everyone. Our teachers have come to the fore and volunteered to supervise the programme in order to keep the service open as we search for a suitable replacement. I hope we will be able to announce Maxines replacement in the coming days. PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE Each year our students are encouraged to parcipate in the Premiers Reading Challenge encouraging students right across the school to read both at school and at home. Mrs. P. (Cheryn Pasculli) has really pushed this programme by talking to staff and students about the benefits of the Challenge as well as revamping the whole Library to make it a welcoming place for students to spend me in. We have just been informed that Airdale is one of the top 55 Outstanding Premiers Reading Challenge Schools in the State in this years challenge. Congratulaons to all the students involved and thank you Mrs. P. for your commitment and dedicaon to this event! MATERIALS & SERVICES CHARGES We sll have a few Materials & Services Fees outstanding at this me. Could I ask Parents to please pay these overdue fees as soon as possible? If you have any issues with the fees, please contact Brenda in the Front Office. PUPIL FREE DAY

Our last Pupil Free Day for this year will be held next MONDAY 16th NOVEMBER.

On the 11th of November, Upper Primary Students held a Remembrance Day Service for the school. Poppies were made by

each student and our class captains placed wreaths at the front of the stage. It was

fantastic to see complete respect during the Last Post and minute silence.
