ThewatersofSanurareprotectedbyalongstringofoffshorereefs,creatinglarge,warmshallow,safelagoonsthatareperfectlyclearandexcellentforswimming,snorkelingandawholearrayofwater sports. Surferswill bepleased to know that the reefs aroundSanurproduce someof thebestwaves in theworld in the right conditionswhere there are reasonable breaks about 1 kmoffshoreduringthenorthwestwindseason(aboutOctober-March).Inthatperiodyouwillhavenoproblemlocatingthebreaks-justfollowthelocals.
Sanur is also the launching pad for visitorswhowant to dive and explore the splendors of thenearbyislandofNusaLembongan,themuchthelargerNusaPenidaandtinyNusaCeningan.
Manyareasaroundthe islandaregoodfordivingandsnorkeling,withabundantmarine lifeandhealthycorals.Surfingcangetabitcrowded,butthewavesaregood.Thereareseveralwhitesandbeachesawayfromthemaincentreswhicharevirtuallynevercrowded.
AsaplacewheretourismfirstflourishedinBali,SanurhassomeofBalis’historichotels.Therearealsonumerousrestaurantsandcafesalongitssandycoastline.
Sanur's splendidpavedbeachfront cycle-path stretches some5 km from JalanMertasari area insouthSanur,northtothemainbeachatJalanHangtuah.Thismakesforalovelyscenicbikeride,especiallyintheearlymorning.ThemoreactivecouldtryoneormoreofthemanywatersportsonofferatSanurBeachlikekitesurfing,windsurfing,wakeboarding,surfingorparagliding.Forthoselessactive,hireabananaboatandhitthecalmwaters.
GettingAround
JalanDanauTamblingan,themainstreetinSanur,hasanumberofoutletsforcar,motorbikeandbicyclerental.Alargenumberofmeteredtaxispatrolthestreetslookingforpassengerstogetherwithlocalbemosrunregularityupanddownthemainstreetareas.Sanurisalsoagreatplacetowalk.Distancesarenotfar,thestreetsarerelativelyquiet,comparedtothehustleandbustleofKutaandthereisasplendid,pavedbeachfrontpathwhichrunsthewholelengthofthedistrict.
BaliMandaraTollRoadwhichisjustsouthofSanuristheofficialnameofthefirsttollroadinBali,anditisalsothefirsttollroadinIndonesiabuiltacrossanocean.ItisuniquecomparedtoothertollroadsinIndonesiaasitalsoaccommodatesmotorbikeswithadedicatedlane.The12,7kmroadconnectsBenoaHarbour/NusaDua,NgurahRaiairportandJimbaranBaytoSanurmakingtravellingtotheseplacesveryquickandeasy.Themotorvehiclefareforusingthetollroadis11,000rupiah(US$0.84)

ProjectAirGrandParadiseStatus:
Thelandparcelhasbeenalreadynegotiatedonaleaseagreementof20millionRupiahperAREperyearfor32years(Firsttwoyearsfreeofchargewhilstunderconstruction)withanoptionofafurther20moreyears.Thepurchasepriceofthelandparcelis4,000millionRupiahperARE.
Includedintheleaseagreementforthelandparcelisitsclearancewhichisexpectedtotakeonemonthtocomplete,oncethelandparcelhasbeen“locked”
Tosecure(lock)thisrareanduniqueparcelofland:
• A10%depositoftheprojectedtotalcostisrequired.Atwhichpointallzoninganddevelopmentapplicationswillbesubmittedforapproval.Thisapprovalprocessisexpectedtotake3months.Thisshortperiodisachievedbyhavingtheappropriatecontactswithpeopleinthenecessarygovernmentdepartments.Ifforwhateverreason,unlikelyasitmaybe,theapplicationisrejectedallmoneyswithberefunded.
• Theclearingofthelandwilltakeplaceduringthisperiodandshallbeatthecostofthelandowner.
