The EUWA*-K(A)X are available in several capacities over a wideoperation range. These chillers are produced in Ostend, Belgium anddistributed via an extensive network of highly experienced specialists.
The careful development of closely matched compressor/refrigerantcombinations, has enabled Daikin to produce complete ranges ofwater chillers – genuinely optimised for use with ozone friendly R-134arefrigerants – that possess the same quality and performance levels asour renowned R-22 models.

OPTIMISED FOR R-134aAll components – compressor, evaporator, condenser, dryer, oil etc. have been specially selectedby Daikin for use with R-134a refrigerant, making Daikin one of the only manufacturers ofR-134a optimised chillers. Piping sizes and diameters have also been modified to ensurecomplete compatibility.
LOW SOUND LEVELSThe use of specially designed components such as propellers, single screw compressor, etc.enables Daikin R-134a chillers to achieve low operating sound levels. For specialapplications, a “low sound” version is available.
HIGH ENERGY EFFICIENCY RATIOLarge Daikin R-134a air cooled water chillers are of the most energy efficient chiller units onthe market.
OPERATION RANGEThe Daikin air cooled chillers with R-134a are ideal for use in severe weather conditionswithin the -15°C to 43°C ambient temperature range. This major benefit results from the incorporation of an auto adaptive control system with built-in functions that include:• head pressure control: fan control for low ambient operation down to -15°C• head pressure setback for high ambient operation:
on hot days, when cooling is most needed, some chillers tend to trip out on high pressure protection. Daikin chillers will stay on line and prevent this situation by adjusting the capacity control.EUWA*-K(A)X series chillers can be operated withan exceptionally wide range of leaving watertemperatures (down to 4°C (standard) or –10°C(glycol)) which makes them suitable for use incomfort cooling as well as process coolingapplications from plastic factories to wine coolingand storage areas.

VICTAULIC JOINTSThe air cooled chillers are standard fitted with victaulic joints on evaporator and condenser pipes. Victaulic joints absorb vibrations, reduce operating soundand thermal deflection and simplify chiller piping and installation. They can accommodate 8° angles and guarantee stress free, leak tightwater piping connection.
CHILLER AND COMPRESSOR SAFETYDaikin chillers are equipped with functions to ensure safe and reliable operation under all loads and in all applications.
On the EUWA*-K(A)X units these include:• double TüV approved high pressure
switches• low pressure protection• double freeze up protection• compressor safety• compressor motor thermal protection• compressor motor over current relay• reverse phase protector
• pressure relief valve on compressor• discharge temperature controller• anti recycling and guard timers• liquid and discharge stop valve• service port on insulated suction pipe

HEAT EXCHANGERSCondenser coils are constructed from especially designed header distribution pipes, in combination with internally grooved Hi-X tubing and aluminium waffle louvre pressed fins.This unique combination of increased contact surfaces and reduced overall coil size, results in optimum heat transfer efficiency. All condenser coils are anti corrosion treated asstandard against effects from severe weather conditions – large chillers are fitted with chromate coated waffle louvre fins. Moreover, condenser protection grilles are availablethroughout the whole range (see page 9).
REFRIGERANT CIRCUITThe refrigerant circuit is equipped as standard with discharge stop valve, sight glass withmoisture indicator, thermal expansion valve with maximum operating pressure, solenoid valveand filter dryer with charging valve. A service port is provided on the insulated suction pipeand on the liquid dryer.

DDC (DIGITAL DISPLAY CONTROL)
The air-cooled chillers are equipped with a DDC control (digitaldisplay control). This auto adaptive control system providesdetailed information on and accurate control of all functionalparameters by easy menu screen scrolling.
The DDC control is self diagnostic and can be set up in several languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian).Lead lag function is standard, as well as voltage free contactsfor remote start/stop and double set point switch. The control isstandard equipped for night setback and peak load limitation.The DDC control is removable – once programmed, the chiller can runwithout remote control or with the control located up to 1,000 meters from the unit !
BMS CONNECTION KIT (BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM)
Any Daikin chiller with a DDC control can be equipped with a connection to a buildingmanagement system. This system monitors and controls lighting, alarms, ventilation – and also Daikin chillers. The Daikin BMS connection supports popular standard protocols such as MODBUS, J-BUS and BACNET and consists of built in address cards for each chillerand a single gateway that can link as many as 16 chillers to the BMS.The BMS supports the complete operation of the chiller and can also monitor and control more than 130 individual parameters including the monitoring of chiller settings, status, temperatures, pressures, alarms and the control of setpoints and on/off operation.

DICN (DAIKIN INTEGRATED CHILLER NETWORK)Daikin chillers with DDC can be equipped with DICNwhich allows the simultaneous operation of up to 4chillers as if they were a single unit, in order to deliverthe required cooling capacity. This results in precise andefficient capacity control and is also useful for back uppurposes, ensuring that the necessary amount of coolingis available and guaranteeing reliable operation of thechiller plant. This function enables a Daikin 2MW chillerplant to be operated via a single controller.
