USER MANUAL Air Conditioner Reference Manual 1 Introduction The Development Board is intended to aid the user in the rapid evaluation and development of a wide variety of dual or single motor control applications. This development system is targeted to control Brushless DC (BLDC) motors, Permanent Magnet Syn- chronous Motors (PMSM) in sensor-less operation. The system has Front end Interleaved Boost convertor for the Power factor correction. The boost convertor also helps to regu- late the DC Bus over a wide input range. Two motor loads can be controlled simultaneously with the demo board. three-phase IPM inverter that can drive high powered motor and separate discrete gate driver’s & IGBT circuitry intended to drive ODU. The circuit drives a BLDC, PMSM or ACIM motor using different control techniques independent of additional hardware. It also has Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuitry in order to provide efficient performance at light loads. This development board is designed to target the Air-conditioner application primarily where control of Compressor & ODU is possible simultaneously along with power factor control Stage to meet the regulations. The board is intended for approximately 1.8KW output when running from a 160V to 265V single-phase input voltage range. The Demo board supports 1.34KW compressor and up to 120W ODU Condenser Fan. Additional Features like Sensors for temperature monitoring, Stepper motor control for EEV, and relays for ac loads have been implemented in the demo board to support Air-conditioner design requirements. The demo board can also be considered for other high-power applications like HVAC, Textile machines, water pumps, indus- trial motors with slight modifications. Air Conditioner Reference Manual

1 Introduction The Development Board is intended to aid the user in the rapid evaluation and development of a wide variety of dual or single

Winding Sequence

Primary Winding. (34SWG)

Start on pin3 and wind 120 turns in 2 layers from left to right. At the end of 1st layer, continue to wind the next layer from right to left.

On the final layer, spread the winding evenly across entire bobbin. Finish this winding on pin 1.

Add 1 layer of tape, for insulation.

Bias winding. (34SWG)

Start on pin4 and wind 21 turns bifilar. Wind in same rotational direction as primary winding. Spread the winding evenly across entire

bobbin. Finish this winding on pin 5.

Add 1 layer of tape, for insulation.

PFC IGBT switching waveforms

The IGBT Collector-Emitter voltage and inductor current waveforms are captured to verify the designed parameters. The maxi-mum

Bus voltage is 380V at full load. The RMS inductor current is found to be 3.56A at full load.
