Aim: Did FDR’s New Deal help America recover from the Great Depression?

• A lesson modeling the use of “Ink Splatter” in American History
The Great Depression begins in 1929
Causes:•Unequal distribution of wealth•Over production in industry and agriculture•Stock market crash and financial panic
Effects:•Widespread hunger and poverty•25% unemployment•FDR's New Deal: “Relief, Recovery, Reform”
• Arrange students in circle(s)• Each student receives a different document• Add annotations directly to the mounting of the
document. Annotations can be questions, comments, definitions, reflections, argumentation, criticisms…
• After some time has elapsed, swap documents. For all subsequent annotations, students can comment not only on the document, but also on the other comments.
• After several swaps, class reconvenes for summary activity
