IN THE BEGINNING....The journey to produce “A:HC - The Audio Series” was truly a labor of love. Thank God I wasn’t on this trek alone!
To be honest, the idea to
p ro d u c e m y d e b u t n o v e l ,
“Address: House of Corrections,”
as an audio series was birthed
many moons ago when I was a
grad student in Chicago writing
for a radio soap opera.
I never forgot the charge I got
working with our cast. That’s why
no sooner then when I finished my
novel I knew I was going to
produce it as an audio series.
How? Well, I had no money to
speak of. But my cup did runneth
over with one thing - Comrades.
Not spy comrades, but true
artists like me who have paid their
dues and honed their crafts in this
strange land we call Hollywood.
My first cal l was to Joy
DeMichelle Moore. Next Toby
Smith came on board and soon
Toby Ambrose, Taji Coleman,
Cheryl Francis Harrington, Quincy
Lenear Gossfield and Carl Gilliard
joined our determined team.
Next, I needed music. So, I
reached out to Jazzy Rita and my
girl, Shanie Evans. And when I
needed a studio, the only person I
thought to ask was my old boss,
Tavis Smiley and his engineer
Johnny Morris.
Scr ip t unseen , everyone
answered my call! How humbling
it was to call on folks - some of
whom I’ve known 15-20 years -
and have them show up simply
because they trusted my work.
Fast forward five years later
and we’re broadcasting the series
every Tuesday and Thursday
through April 26th @ http://
flowergirlpub.podbean.com/Here
you can catch up on archived
episodes. The series is also going
to be syndicated on Itunes soon,
so stay tuned for that.
In the meantime, get to know
my wonderful cast. Read their
bios and watch their amazing
processes in “The Making of
Address: House of Corrections -
The Audio Series.”
They. Are. Phenomenal! And
you are, too, for supporting me!
