Progress of Southwest Monsoon

North West India (Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh,

Jammu& Kashmir, Uttaranchal)

Punjab, Haryana

Rain occurred at isolated on 5th. Weather remained mainly dry during the rest days of the period.

Mainly dry weather is likely over the State.

Advisories

• As Rewari district in Haryana and Amritsar, Gurudaspur, and Ropar districts in Punjab received excess rainfall during last week and weather will be mainly dry over the State for next three days, apply irrigation to sugarcane and early sown cotton in these districts depending on soil stored moisture. As the remaining districts of these States received no significant rainfall during last week, apply irrigation to the crops in these districts to bring soil to its field capacity.

• Complete sowing using recommended BT cotton varieties RCH 134, RCH 317, RCH 6301, and

MRC 6304 for reducing spray and getting economic returns.

• Continue sowing rice nursery using recommended varieties. Avoid Pusa-44 and Sathi paddy as it is suscepetible to Bacterial leaf blight. Prefer varieties i.e. PR-118, 111, 116, 114, 106, 108, 113 and 115 etc. for raising rice nursery in Punjab. In Haryana, emphasis may be given on cultivation of medium duration of high yielding varieties JAYA, HKR-120, PR106, HKR-126 and IR-64. For basmati rice use Basmati 370, Pusa Basmati No 1 and Taraori Basmati. Prepare paddy nursery on raised bed system.

• Low incidence of top shoot borer, termite and black bug is reported below ETL in sugarcane in Haryana. Spray Endosulfan 35EC @ 500 ml / acre in 400 litres of water for controlling black bug. Check attack of top shoot borer if attack exceeds ETL by applying 12 kg carbofuran 36 or phorote 10G / acre.

Rajasthan

Duststorm / thunderstorm / light rainfall recorded at isolated places in Ajmer, Jaipur, Kota & Bikaner divisions.

Day temperatures were below normal by 20C to 30C in Jaipur, Kota & Udaipur divisions, 10C to 20C in Jodhpur & Bikaner divisions and nearly normal in Ajmer division of the state.

Mainly dry weather is likely over the State. Day temperatures are likely to increase by 2-3 ºC.

Advisories

• Apply required irrigation to bring the soil moisture to field capacity to zaide moong and zaide fodder crops in Karauli, Sikar, Rajsamand, Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh, Jalore, Jodhpur, Nagaur, and Sri Ganganagar districts as there was no significant rainfall during last week and mainly dry weather is likely to prevail for the next three days. Apply irrigation in the above mentioned districts depending on the rainfall situation.

• Continue sowing of cotton crop. Select varieties from RG-8, RG-18 and Bikaneri.

Uttar Pradesh

Rain / thundershower occurred at a few places in Gorakhpur division and at isolated places in remaining divisions on 5th June. Rain / thundershower occurred at many places in Gorakhpur division and at isolated places in Varanasi, Faizabad and Allahabad divisions, weather was mainly dry in remaining divisions on 6th June. Rain / thundershower occurred at isolated places in Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Allahabad divisions. Weather has been mainly dry in remaining divisions of the State on 7th June.

Rain / thundershowers are likely at a few places in East U.P. Significant decrease in rainfall activity is likely after 24 hours. Isolated squall are likely over East Uttar Pradesh. Mainly dry weather is likely over the West U.P. Day temperatures over West Uttar Pradesh are likely to remain around 40-420C.

Advisories

• There was no significant rainfall in East U.P except in Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Bahraich, Ballia, Balrampur, Banda, Barabanki, Basti, Faizabad, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Kanpur City,Kanpur Dehat, Kheri, Lucknow, Maharajganj, Rae Barelly, Sidharthnagar, Shrawasti, Sitapur, Sultanpur, Unnao, and Varanasi districts and rain / thundershowers are likely at a few places with isolated heavy rainfall over the region for next three days. Under the circumstances, postpone irrigation to the summer sugarcane, rabi oilseeds, pulses and mango crops. Apply irrigation in the above mentioned districts depending on rainfall situation.

• As there was no significant rain except in Agra, Aligarh, Baghpat, Bijnor, Etah, Firozabad, Hamirpur, Jhansi, Pilibhit, Moradabad, Muzzaffarnagar, Mahamaya Nagar, and Shahjahanpur districts in West U.P and mainly dry weather is likely to prevail for the next three days, apply required irrigation to bring the soil moisture to field capacity and apply irrigation in the above mentioned districts depending on the soil profile stored moisture.

Himachal Pradesh

There was no significant rainfall in Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Lahaul and Spiti districts during last week whereas the remaining districts of the State received excess / normal rain.

Advisories

• This is proper time for sowing of bhindi in middle hills (var. Prabhani Kranti, Arka Anamika), frenchbean (var. Conender) and sowing of nursery of cucumber, summer squash, bitter gourd and ridge gourd in poly houses. It is time for transplanting of brinjal (Arka Nidhi, PPC), Capsicum (California wonder) and tomato.

• As the recent rain has occurred in the State, conserve moisture by mulching the tree basin areas of apple.

Uttaranchal

Light to moderate rain was recorded at most places on 4th June, at many places on 3rd June, at a few places on 5th June and at isolated places on 1st June. Sky remained partly cloudy to overcast.

Mainly dry weather is likely over the State.

Advisories

• As there was excess rain in Alomra, Champawat, Nainital, Garhwal Pauri and Udham Sing Nagar and mainly dry weather is likely over the State for next three days, apply irrigation to mango, litchi, apple, sugarcane and vegetables crops depending on the soil profile stored moisture. As there was no significant rainfall in the remaining districts of the State, apply required irrigation to the crops to bring the soil moisture to field capacity.

• Continue field preparation and nursery sowing of rice & cauliflower.

Jammu & Kashmir

Light to moderate rain / thundershowers occurred at a few places on 5th and 6th June and at isolated places on 7th June in State.

Isolated rain / thundershowers are likely over the State.

Advisories

• There was excess rainfall in the State during last week and rain / thundershowers are likely to occur only at isolated places in the State. Under the circumstances, apply required irrigation to summer vegetables, pulses, rice and maize crops depending on soil stored moisture.

• Continue land preparation and nursery sowing of rice, pulses, maize, fodder crops wherever irrigation facilities available.

Delhi

Weather remained dry. Sky remained partly cloudy with surface wind ranging between 3-5 Kts.

Mainly dry weather is likely over the State.

Advisories

• As there was excess rain during last week and weather will be mainly dry over the State for next three days, apply irrigation, if required, to summer vegetable crops, green gram, black gram, fodder crops and early sown arhar depending on soil stored moisture.

• Continue sowing of arhar, Pusa Chetki variety of radish and maize with irrigation facilities. Select arhar varieties like Upas – 120, Manak and T21 and maize varieties like Ganga, Vikram and Kissan for sowing.

• Prepare nursery of rice and early varieties of cauliflower and cabbage.

Southern Region (AP, Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Kerala)

Kerala

Southwest monsoon was weak over Kerala on 5th & 7th June. Rain occurred at most places on 6th, at many places on 5th and at isolated places on 7th June.

Rain / thundershowers are likely at isolated places over the State.

Advisories

• Attack of mahali disease is reported in arecanut, spray Boardeaux mixture 1% to control the disease.

• Attack of Red palm weevil, rhinoceros beetle and bud rot, leaf rot, Mahali disease is reported in coconut. Hook out the beetles from the affected palms and fill the leaf axil with sevidol 8 G, 25 gm. and fine sand 200 gm and to prevent leaf rot disease in coconut spray 1% Bordeaux mixture or 0.5% copper oxy-chloride preparation on the crowns of the palm.

• Quick wilt disease is reported in pepper. Apply mixture of cow dung and Trichoderma culture @ 200 gm. per plant.

• Continue new planting or intercultural operations in coconut, arecanut and rubber.

• Excess rainfall occurred in Kannur, Malappuram, and Palakkad districts in the State and rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places for the next three days. Under the circumstances, apply irrigation to plantation crops and pepper depending on the soil profile stored moisture.

• Continue fertilizer application in pepper, rubber and banana.

Tamilnadu

Rainfall occurred at isolated places over the state on 5th, 6th and 7th June.

Rain / thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places over the state. Advisories

• There was no significant rainfall in all the districts during last week except in Chennai, Pudukottai, Salem, Nilgiris, Theni, Thirivallur districts and rainfall is likely to occur only at isolated places over the State for the next three days. Under the circumstances, apply required irrigation to cotton, early / mid sugarcane and millets to bring the soil moisture to its field capacity. Apply irrigation in the above mentioned districts depending on the soil profile stored moisture.

• Complete harvesting matured crop of pulses.

• Maintain 3 – 5 cm water in the Navarai rice field.

• Farmers are advised to prepare the field and take up sowing of kharif crops with the help of monsoon rain.

Karnataka

Monsoon was weak over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka on all the days. Rainfall occurred at most places on 5th & 6th and at a few places on 7th over Coastal Karnataka. Over North interior Karnataka, rainfall occurred at many places on 6th, a few places on 5th and at isolated places on 7th June. Over South interior Karnataka, rainfall occurred at a few places on 5th & 6th and at isolated places on 7th June.

Rain / thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places over the State. Mainly dry weather is likely in North Interior Karnataka.

Advisories

• As there was no significant rainfall in the State during last week except in Dakshin Kannada, Udupi, Uttar Kannada, Bijapur, Dharwad, Haveri, Bangalore Urban, Hassan, Kodagu and Shimoga districts

and rain / thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places only in the next three days, apply irrigation to summer groundnut, summer sunflower and sugarcane crops. Apply irrigation in the above mentioned districts depending on the soil profile stored moisture.

• Farmers are advised to continue the field preparation and take up sowing of kharif crops viz. jowar, maize, groundnut and cotton with the help of monsoon rain.

• Wooly aphid incidence is reported in sugarcane at Mysore, Mandya, Hassan, Bidar & Bagalkote districts. Release predators like Dipha sp, adopt wider spacing and inter-cropping with soyabean and pulses of short duration for ratoon crop to control wooly aphids.

Andhra Pradesh

Southwest monsoon has further advanced in to some parts of Telangana and remaining parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on 6th June. Southwest monsoon has been active over Rayalaseema on 6th June. Rain occurred at few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 5th and 6th June, over Telangana on 4th and 6th June and isolated over coastal Andhra Pradesh on 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 7th June over Telangana on 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th June and over Rayalaseema on 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th June.

Weather was mainly dry elsewhere over the State during the week.

Rain / thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places over the State. Mainly dry weather is likely in Interior Andhra Pradesh.

Advisories

• Sowing of rice in nursery bed and other kharif crops in may be started with the help of monsoon rain.

• Preparatory tillage may be completed in parts of Telangana to take up sowing after receipt of adequate rain.

Eastern Region (Assam, Bihar, Sikkim, West Bengal)

Assam

All the districts of the State received excess or normal rainfall during last week except Cachar, East Khasi Hills, Goalpara, Hailakandi, Karbj Analog, Kamrup, Karimganj, Nalbari, Sibsagar and Sonitpur districts where deficient, scanty or no rain occurred.

Rain / thundershowers are likely at a few places over Assam during next 24 hours. Subsequently rainfall activity is likely to increase substantially with isolated heavy to very heavy falls.

Advisories

• As there was no significant rainfall in Cachar, East Khasi Hills, Goalpara, Hailakandi, Karbj Analog, Kamrup, Karimganj, Nalbari, Sibsagar and Sonitpur districts during last week and rain is likely to occur at a few places over the State for next 24 hours and subsequently rainfall activity is likely to increase substantially with isolated heavy to very heavy falls, apply irrigation to sugarcane, summer vegetables, jute and maize in these districts depending on rainfall situation. As the remaining districts of the State received excess or normal rain during last week, postpone irrigation in these districts.

• Maintain 3 – 5 cm water in early ahu rice and regular ahu rice fields.

• Since maize crop is highly susceptible to water logging, provision of surface drainage should be made in the field under prevailing weather condition.

• As rain is likely to occur at a few places over the State for next 24 hours and subsequently rainfall activity is likely to increase substantially with isolated heavy to very heavy falls, postpone application of fertilizer to early ahu rice, maize and regular ahu rice.

West Bengal

All the districits received excess or normal rainfall, during last week except South 24 Pargana and South Dinajpur districts where the rain was deficient / no rain.

Rain / thundershowers are likely at many places over the State. Significant decrease in rainfall activity is likely after 24 hrs.

Advisories

• Continue sowing of kharif crops in the State with the help of advanced monsoon rain after current spell of rain. The farmers are also advised to keep fertilizers ready for kharif crops and also advised to collect & store plant protection measures to use for pest control.

• As most of the districts of the State received excess or normal rain during last week and rain / thundershowers are likely at many places over the State, postpone intercultural operation, irrigation and application of fertilizer and plant protection measures to sugarcane, green gram and early sown jute.

• Postpone harvesting of groundnut and sesame under prevailing weather condition & harvesting may be completed after current spell of rain on bright sunny days within this week.

• Continue sowing of aus rice and jute after current spell of rain. Select varieties of aus rice from IET – 826, CR – 126-42-1, IR – 36, IET – 2233, IET – 1444 (Rasi), Culture – 1 etc.

Bihar

Rain occurred at many places over the state. Monsoon set in Bihar on 6th June.

Rain / thundershower likely to occur at a few places over the State.

Advisories

• There was no significant rainfall in the State during last week except in Bhagalpur, East Champaran, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Patna and Samastipur districts and rain / thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over the State for the next three days. Under the circumstances, apply irrigation to summer vegetables, maize, moong, and fodder and fruit crops depending on rainfall situation. As rain occurred in above mentioned districts, postpone irrigation in these districts under prevailing weather condition.

• Start preparatory cultivation for nursery raising of kharif rice and other kharif crops, and take up sowing of pulses, oilseed (til , groundnut), fodder and vegetable crops wherever adequate rainfall received in parts of Bihar after current spells of rain.

Sikkim

Sky remained generally cloudy during the period.

Moderate to light rain occurred at many places on 6th and 7th June. Light rain occurred at a few places on 5th June over Gangtok. No rain occurred over Tadong on 5th June. Rainfall was deficient during the period.

Rain/ thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over the State. Significant decrease in rainfall activity is likely after 24 hrs.

Advisories

• There was excess rainfall in the state during last week and rain/ thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over the State for the next three days. Under the circumstances, postpone irrigation to orange, maize, potato and large cardamom crops.

• Rouge out chirke and foorkey affected large cardamom plants and destroy them by burning.

• Prepare nursery for sowing of Kharif rice after current spells of rain.

Arunachal Pradesh

Rain/Thundershower occurred at most places on 1st, 2nd and 7th June, at many places on 6th, at a few places on 4th and 5th and at one or two places on 3rd June.

Sky remained mainly cloudy over the State during the week.

Rain/thundershowers are likely at a few places over the region during next 24 hours. Subsequently rainfall activity is likely to increase substantially with isolated heavy to very heavy falls.

Apply irrigation in the above mentioned districts depending upon the rainfall situation and soil profile stored moisture..

• Continue harvesting of matured summer vegetable and ginger crops.

Central Region (Gujarat, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, MP & Orissa)

Gujarat

Excess rain occurred in all the districts of Gujarat except Jamnagar and Kutch during last week.

Mainly dry weather is likely over the State. Day temperatures are likely to increase by 2 – 30C.

Advisories

• As excess rain occurred in all the districts of Gujarat except Jamnagar and Kutch during last week, postpone irrigation to sugarcane in these districts. As there was no significant rain in the above mentioned districts during last week and weather will be mainly dry over the State for next three days, apply irrigation to the crops in these districts.

• Start land preparation and sowing of Kharif groundnut, Kharif bajra, Kharif maize and Kharif cotton and nursery preparation of Kharif rice with the help of monsoon rain.

• Select high yielding varieties of Kharif groundnut like GG_11, 12, 13, 20 and GAU-10, resistant against downey mildew & high yielding varieties of Kharif bajra like GHB-15, 27, 235, 316 and MH_169, high yielding varieties of Kharif maize like Maize-1, 2, 4, 6 and Ganga safed – 2, Ganga – 11 and Pusa Hybrid – 1and high yielding varieties of Kharif cotton like H_4, 6, 8, 10 and local varieties like Guj. Cotton-16, 17, 23 & Digvijay for South Gujarat, V-797, Guj. Cotton-13, 21 for North Gujarat and cottons local hybrid-7 for entire State.

Chattisgarh

All the districts of the State received excess rain except Bilaspur, Dantewara, Durg, Janjgir, Jashpurnagar, Kowardna, Korba and Koriya where deficient, scanty or no rain occurred.

Rain / thundershower likely to occur at a few places over the State.

Advisories

• As there was no significant rainfall in Bilaspur, Dantewara, Durg, Janjgir, Jashpurnagar, Kowardna, Korba and Koriya districts during last week and rain is likely to occur at a few places over the State for next three days, apply irrigation to sugarcane, green gram and summer vegetables in these districts depending on rainfall situation. As the remaining districts of the State received excess rain during last week, apply irrigation in these districts, if required, depending on soil stored moisture and rainfall situation.

• Complete harvesting of matured crops of sunflower, groundnut and sesame on bright sunny days within this week.

• Preparatory tillage may be completed with the help of pre-monsoon rain so that sowing of kharif crops may be done as soon as monsoon rain starts in the State. The farmers are also advised to keep seeds & fertilizers ready for kharif sowing and also advised to collect & store plant protection measures to use as a pest control of kharif crops.

Maharashtra

Rainfall occurred at all places over South Madhya Maharashtra, at many places over South Konkan, at few places over North Konkan and East Vidarbha and light rainfall occurred at isolated places over North Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and West Vidarbha.

Isolated rain / thundershowers are likely over Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra. Mainly dry weather is likely over the rest region.

Advisories

• As there was no significant rain in Marathwada and Vidarbha region of the State during last week and weather will be mainly dry over these regions, apply irrigation to Sugarcane and Cotton (irrigated) in these districts to bring soil to its field capacity. As there was excess rain in the districts of Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra during last couple of weeks and rain / thundershowers are likely at isolated places over these regions during next three days, postpone irrigation to the crops in these districts.

• Mild incidence of White wooly aphids in the Division of Kolhapur, Nashik, Pune & Dhule is reported. For the control of White Wooly Aphids in sugarcane release 2500 eggs or larvae of Chrysoperla Carnea or Konobatra aphidivora parasite on the leaves or spray Endosulphan @ 1 ml. plus Metasistox @ 1 ml mixed in 1 liter water.

• Apply final dose of 100 kg Nitrogen and 55 kg Sphurad / ha mixed with Neem cake to sugarcane and first dose of Nitrogen @ 40 kg / ha to irrigated cotton.

• This is the time for sowing of Kharif rice, jowar, Kharif groundnut, bajra, soybean and sunflower. Select varieties from Karjat 1, 2, 3, 184, Ratnagiri 3, 73, 711, Sahyadri, Bhogabvati, Phule Radha and Phule Maval for Kharif rice in Konkan and Indrayani, Pavna Ambemhor 157, Pusa Basmati, Karjat Hybrid, Sahaydri 2, Ratnagiri 24, 73, 711 for Madhya Maharashtra and SKL 6, SYE 1 or 4, PKV, HMV for Vidarbha.

• Select the hybrid varieties of jowar from CSH 1, 5, 6, 9, 14, 17, 18, 23, CSH 8 R, SPV 86, 462, 946, PKV 801, 809 and SPH 388 and varieties of kharif groundnut from SB 11, Phule Pragati, TMV 10, TAG 26, JL 24, JL 2620 and TPG 41.

• Select the varieties of bajra from Saburi, BJ 104, BK 560, BD 763, WCC 75 and ICTP 8203, varieties of soybean from PKV 1, TAMS 38, MAUS 47, 61, 71 or 81, Phule Kalyani and Samruddhi and varieties of sunflower from EC 68414, Morden, SS 56, KBSH 11, Surya, PKV SF 9, or 27, SCH 35.

• Farmers are advised to be ready with the inputs in Marathwada & Vidarbha so that sowing can be started immediately with the start of monsoon rain.

Madhya Pradesh Chhatarpur, Narsingpur, Panna, Sagar, Satna, Bhind, Guna, Gwalior, Indore, Jhabua, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Shivpuri, Hosangabad, Sehore, Shajapur and Sheopur Kalani districts received excess / normal rainfall whereas remaining districts received deficient or scanty or no rain during last week.

Rain / thundershowers likely to occur at a few places over North East M.P. and at isolated places over rest of the State.

Advisories

• As Chhatarpur, Narsingpur, Panna, Sagar, Satna, Bhind, Guna, Gwalior, Indore, Jhabua, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Shivpuri and Sheopur Kalani districts received excess rainfall during last week and rain / thundershowers are likely at a few places over the North east M.P. and isolated over rest of the State for next three days, apply irrigation to sugarcane and moong in these districts, if required, depending on soil stored moisture and rainfall situation. As the remaining districts received no significant rainfall during last week, apply irrigation to the crops in these districts depending on rainfall situation.

• Preparatory tillage may be completed with the help of pre-monsoon rain so that sowing of kharif crops may be done as soon as monsoon rain starts in the State. The farmers are also advised to keep seeds & fertilizers ready for kharif sowing and also advised to collect & store plant protection measures to use as a pest control of kharif crop.

Orissa

South west monsoon has advanced and covered most parts of Orissa on 6th June. Rain occurred at most places over Orissa on 5th, 6th and at many places on 7th June. Heavy to very heavy rain fall occurred at isolated places over Interior Orissa on 5th & over Orissa on 6th June.

Rain / thundershowers are likely at a few places over the State.

Advisories

• As there was no significant rain in Gajapati and Malkangiri districts and rain or thunder shower likely to occur at a few places over the State for next three days, apply irrigation to vegetables, pulses, sugarcane and jute crops in these districts depending on rainfall situation. As excess rainfall occurred in remaining districts of the State during last week, postpone irrigation in these districts under prevailing weather condition.

• At five months stage of sugarcane crop, perform propping by combining plants of two rows so that the crops do not lodge by wind.

TEMPERATURES: Heat wave conditions prevailed on 1 day each in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan. Day temperatures were appreciably above normal on 1 to 2 days in Uttaranchal and Kashmir. They were below normal on 2 to 6 days in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Chattisgarh and Telangana. WEATHER AND ASSOCIATED SYNOPTIC FEATURES: (1)The trough at sea level extended from Rajasthan to north Bay through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal during 1st to 6th and became less marked on 7th. (2) The off-shore trough at sea level extended from: Maharashtra to Kerala coasts on 1st; south Gujarat to Kerala coast during 2nd to 4th; north Karnataka to Kerala coasts on 5th & 6 th and south Maharashtra to Karnataka coasts on 7th. (3) The upper air cyclonic circulation over Maharashtra coast lay over: north Maharashtra and adjoining Gujarat region on 1st; Gujarat and adjoining Maharashtra on 2nd; northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining east Rajasthan on 3rd and became less marked on 4th. (4) An upper air cyclonic circulation extending upto mid tropospheric levels lay over north Bay on 4th & 5 th. Under its influence, a low pressure area formed over north Bay and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal on 6th. Rapidly moving inland, it lay over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand on 7th. (5) An upper air cyclonic circulation extending upto 4.5 km a.s.l. lay over: north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir on 2nd; Jammu & Kashmir and adjoining north Pakistan on 3rd; Jammu & Kashmir and adjoining Punjab on 4th & 5 th and moved away northeastwards on 6th. (6) Another upper air cyclonic circulation extending upto 4.5 km a.s.l. lay over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir on 6th & 7 th. (7) The upper air cyclonic circulation over Punjab and adjoining northwest Rajasthan lay over Haryana and neighbourhood on 1st, west Uttar Pradesh and neighborhood on 2nd and became less marked on 3rd.

The southwest monsoon has been vigorous on 4 days in Konkan & Goa and on 1 to 2 days in Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Gujarat State, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka and Kerala and active on 1 to 3 days in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura, West Bengal & Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Maharashtra, Rayalaseema and coastal & south interior Karnataka.

Very heavy rain occurred at isolated places on 1 to 3 days in Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura, West Bengal & Sikkim, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Gujarat State, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal & south interior Karnataka and Kerala.
