Pakistan, agricultural land is primarily owned and operated by private farmers
• By using the instruments of agricultural policy. government can influence the various decisions taken by the farmers in order to ensure that their outcome is also in accordance with the national objectives.
Agricultural policies generally used in
Pakistan consists of the following two
categories:
• First: This category covers fixing prices of agricultural output and inputs, measures relating to their domestic as well as international purchase and sale, import and export duties, foreign EXCHANGE RATE etc.
• Second: This category involves redistribution of land ownership as well as the condition's of tenancy and inheritance.
Agricultural price policy
Agricultural price policy is a method of influencing the price of agricultural goods so that it acts as an incentive to produce certain goods in desired quantities.
The main objectives of agricultural policy are
Better distribution of agricultural assets
To improve farmers incomes
To accelerate agricultural growth
To ensure balanced growth in production to fulfill domestic requirements.
