why leadership team agilit y ? There was a time when a focus on production and planning was enough to dominate the market. But we live in a turbulent world. Increasing complexity, drastically shortened production cycles and lack of resources is forcing us to come up with new answers.

We know that teams outperform individuals, and that a focus on control limits an organisation’s capacity to be agile. In these turbulent times we need to transform our individual management focus to a leadership team agility focus.

The leadership agility program is built up of various elements: profiles, workshops, coaching and key learning assignments.

1. Discovery: Team and individual mapping Before we embark on the program, we help you to measure where you’re at in relation to market requirements and your competitors.

For team mapping we use the Team Agility Profile (TAP). This is a questionnaire focused on measuring the agility of the leadership team under normal

circumstances and under stress. These scores are later used in the team development session to identify the gaps in the team to realise the strategy.

For individual mapping we use the online Process Communication questionnaire. The Process Communication Model® (PCM) provides a reliable and validated method to understand individual differences and preferences in communication and stress patterns, enabling better cooperation between team members.

2. Debriefing: Individual and team development plans

The purpose of individual debriefings is to provide targeted information and feedback on the outcomes of the PCM profile.

This includes:• Your unique personality structure and character strengths• Your interactive preferences - keys to effective communication• Your psychological needs - keys to personal and professional

success• Your unique distress patterns that could sabotage your

personal and professional success• Your plan of action to a healthy, happy, quality lifestyle.

The Team kick-off is to define the team development plan, based on the PCM team score and team agility profiles. We present the outcomes and conduct exercises to explore the team’s capability to develop. Based on the gaps between the team scores and the requirements we then formulate a development plan, which will guide the team development.

3. Development: Coaching, Workshops, Key Learning Assignments

The heart of the program are the leadership coaching, workshops and key learning assigments.

The key learning assigments help apply and anchor the learning for the good of the organisational development. Though essential they are not mandatory.

Leadership coaching 2Coaching offers a safe environment to reflect on personal and professional performance and options. The aim of coaching is to optimize individual and team performance to more effectively engage with key stakeholders to jointly transform the wider business.

We normally offer three individual leadership-coaching sessions per leader during the leadership team agility process– the intake to create a development plan, a development coaching session after the second workshop, and a final coaching to evaluate the learning. This can be extended to five or ten coaching sessions per participant.

In order for coaching to be most effective, the leaders must make a commitment to take an active part in the process, which may include identifying own goals and desired outcomes, or doing “homework” assignments and follow-up activities between sessions.

Leadership WorkshopsDuring the workshops we work systematically on improving the leadership team agility. Over a six-month period we propose the following sessions: Leading Change, Leading Others, Leading Team.

The themes of the workshop will be further specified after the assessments.

Workshop 1: Leading changeThe change workshop is a two-day action-learning program based on case studies and a structured process to develop an agile strategy for the organisation.

By attending this workshop you will be able to:• Identify the factors that will make you thrive in a turbulent

environment• Understand which must win battles you have• Apply Kotter’s eight steps of change management• Understand what creates immunity to change.

Workshop 2: Leading othersTransactional analysis (TA) is a practical theory of personality, communication and change. It is a powerful tool for professional and personal growth. The goal of transactional analysis is to increase awareness, spontaneity and the capacity for partnership.

During the training you will learn about: • How did you become the leader you are• Being masterful in communication• Miscommunication and getting out of games• Managing performance and underperformance• Recognition and feedback as a motor for change.

Workshop 3: Leading teamEach organisation develops through a series of stages, determined by the complexity of the environment. We will simulate five stages of team development, each characterized by a specific leadership style, structure and possible organisational issues.

By attending this workshop you will be able to:• Understand the three levels of team leadership• Improve the structure and cohesion in your teams• Experience the influence of personalities on team culture.

Optional: Key learning assignments The key learning assignments are meant to provide a forum for application and anchoring of the learning. They are based on the identification of strategic change priorities which will provide innovation, revenue or savings or customer satisfaction.

Assignments should always include multidisciplinary elements, provide a balance of challenge and do-ability, should have a visible behavioral outcome in a period of maximum 6 months.

Each assignment is sponsored by one of the top executives, and each KLA team is coached monthly to guarantee success. The executive sponsors will also be given extra coaching on how to sponsor the assignments in a way that encourages, inspires and provides developmental feedback.

4. Dreaming the future: Team evaluation and future steps

During this team session we evaluate the progress made based on the initial team development plans and the team-coaching contract.

Using various techniques the team will create their own development plan for the next six-month period.
