6. CRB Transportation Needs Assessment 2015
6.1 Final Report Presentation
Motion: That the Transit Committee recommend the Capital Region Board receive the Capital Region Board Transportation Needs Assessment 2015 Report for information. Moved by: Councillor Michael Walters, City of Edmonton Decision: Carried unanimously
7. CRB/CRP Transit Policy Workshop – March 26, 2015
7.1 Workshop Meeting Notes
Motion: That the Transit Committee receive the March 26, 2015 CRB/CRP Transit Policy Workshop meeting notes for information and direct CRB Administration to work on scheduling a joint Fall 2015 Workshop. Moved by: Councillor Dana Smith, City of Leduc Decision: Carried unanimously
Mayor Katchur left the meeting at 11:10pm.

8.1 Proposed cancellation of July 30, 2015 meeting and rescheduling of September 24, 2015 meeting
Motion: That the Transit Committee cancel the July 30, 2015 Committee meeting and reschedule the September 24, 2015 meeting to September 3, 2015. Moved by: Councillor Michael Walters, City of Edmonton Decision: Carried unanimously

9.1 GreenTRIP Funding
It was approved by unanimous consensus that the Transit Committee accept the GreenTRIP Funding update as information.
9.2 Growth Plan Update Task Force
It was approved by unanimous consensus that the Transit Committee accept the Growth Plan Update Task Force update as information.

It was approved by unanimous consensus that the Transit Committee meeting be adjourned.

Current 2015/16 Transit Work Plan Update

Household
Travel Survey
This City of Edmonton led survey includes participation by
the CRB and Alberta Transportation. The survey collects
comprehensive travel pattern data and information for
the region. The survey provides data used by city
administration, developers and consultants to forecast
future travel and infrastructure needs critical to planning
for the future of Edmonton and the region.

This assessment determines the demand for transit services
in the region for persons with disabilities and to determine
the CRB’s role in enabling specialized transit service across
the region.

HOV Study
As identified in Transportation Prioritization Report, this
study identifies where HOV lanes may be considered in
the region to improve mobility. This study will include public
transit and HOVs and consider Transit Priority and Queue
Jumping within municipalities. This study requires
collaboration with Alberta Transportation.

Strategy
The purpose of the project is to develop an Advocacy
Strategy and Implementation Plan in establishing

2016/17 Transit Work Plan Motion
That the Transit Committee approve the proposed 2016/17 Transit Work Plan and that the Work Plan be forwarded to the Governance, Priorities & Finance Committee for consideration in the preparation of the Board’s Budget.
Background
The proposed work plan for 2016/17 aligns with the Capital Region Board 2014-2018 Strategic Plan approved on October 9, 2014 and the 2015/2019 Business Plan approved by the Board on August 13, 2015.

Regional Transit Policy Workshop

Proposed Agenda Items
1. Regional Transit Update
CRB / CRP Administrations will report on recent transit related activities and initiatives.
2. Joint Transit Initiatives
Building on the results of the spring workshop breakout session, Members will discuss opportunities for joint transit initiatives between the two organizations such as the economic impact of transit, integration of transit and land use planning, rural transit, etc.
3. Transit Advocacy
At the spring workshop members were asked ‘What should be the priorities pursued with Provincial and Federal Governments?’ Members will review the results and discuss further actions to be taken in advocating to Provincial and Federal Governments for transit funding and support.
4. Transportation Strategy for Alberta
This session will be an update on the progress of the Transportation Strategy for Alberta originally presented at the spring workshop by the Alberta Transportation. The members will have the opportunity to provide input into the action areas and milestones of the Strategy.
